Wynn(e) as a first name?

Would love to hear thoughts on [name]Wynne[/name] (or [name]Wynn[/name]) as a first name for a girl. Also your thoughts on the first-middle combo we’re considering:

[name]Wynne[/name] [name]Audrey[/name]

Most people I think would go the other way around – [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Wynne[/name] – but we are leaning toward the former.

So, wise berries: is [name]Wynne[/name] strong enough to be a first name? (We don’t love [name]Winifred[/name] or any other longer versions of [name]Wynne[/name] that we can think of, but we really love [name]Winnie[/name] or [name]Wynnie[/name] as a nn.)

[name]Do[/name] you like the first name/middle name combo of [name]Wynne[/name] [name]Audrey[/name]?

Any preference on [name]Wynne[/name] or [name]Wynn[/name] spelling?

Thank you in advance!

It’s not my favorite, but if you like it, go for it. I personally like [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Wynne[/name] much better. It flows better, and goes with sibling [name]Beatrix[/name]. She’ll have less difficulty with spelling, and [name]Wynne[/name] on a page without a middle can be confusing as to which gender.
I’d definitely opt for the [name]Wynne[/name] spelling, because [name]Wynn[/name] looks decidedly masculine to me.
If you don’t like [name]Winifred[/name], you could also get [name]Wynne[/name]/[name]Winn[/name]/[name]Winnie[/name] from [name]Winona[/name], [name]Winter[/name], [name]Winola[/name], but also names that end with -win or -wyn like [name]Anwyn[/name], [name]Blodwyn[/name], [name]Bronwyn[/name], Carwyn, [name]Dwynwen[/name], [name]Eowyn[/name], [name]Gwyneth[/name], Maewyn, Mairwyn, [name]Olwyn[/name], etc.

If you do go with [name]Wynne[/name], I’d probably change [name]Audrey[/name] as a middle, and opt for something more feminine and soft-sounding, like [name]Wynne[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Wynne[/name] [name]Elise[/name], [name]Wynne[/name] Castelle or [name]Wynne[/name] [name]Elisabet[/name].

[name]Wynne[/name] [name]Elise[/name] is quite lovely! Thank you so much for the suggestions and feedback. [name]Wynne[/name] has some personal significance for my husband, and (this sounds kind of silly, but) we tried it out on [name]Bea[/name] and she LOVES saying “sister [name]Winnie[/name]” so we may have to go with it after all.

So glad I could be of assistance!

I like it! Especially the suggestion of [name]Wynne[/name] [name]Elise[/name]. I think the shorter version looks funny next to [name]Beatrix[/name], so I much prefer the longer spelling!

I’d go with the likely spelling of [name]Wynn[/name] since it’ll save your daughter a lifetime of saying “that’s [name]Wynne[/name] with an E”. The simplest way is often the easiest and most likely way.

[name]How[/name] many syllables are in the surname and what’s the last initial? Since the first name is one syllable, I’d go more more syllables in the middle name but have it differing than the surname. Differing syllables for each part just sounds better and less monotone so like 1-3-2 or 1-2-3. You also don’t want initials that spell anything like [name]Wynn[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Smith[/name] (WAS).

Also with such a unique sex last name for a first, I like the fact that you went with an obvious girl name? [name]Wynn[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] (blank) is better than [name]Wynn[/name] [name]Brooks[/name] (blank) since you wouldn’t know what sex the person is.
