XP: Roosevelt

It’s been on and off our short list since we started talking about names, I love it but hate that he may be teased and called [name]Rose[/name]. WDYT? nn would probably be [name]Ro[/name].

Really sorry to say that my initial reaction was “are you serious?!”. I think a kid with this name would be teased mercilessly. Sorry but have to be honest.

If you like it so much, why don’t you use it for a middle name? Personally, I wouldn’t use it for a first name for a boy or a girl.

It’s not at the top of our list just yet, we’re still just talking about it. Middle names are reserved for family names. I think it fits with our style (long, clunky, kinda vintage; [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Wilhelmina[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Alistair[/name]-which we’re still unsure of)

[name]Alistair[/name] is a lovely name highly underused. What others have you been considering then maybe we can make some suggestions?

My top are [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Dominic[/name] (both vetoed) and his top are [name]Alexander[/name] (too popular) and [name]Alistair[/name] (on our list, but afraid of being called [name]Ali[/name]/[name]Alice[/name]), also like [name]Atticus[/name] (vetoed), [name]Roosevelt[/name] (obv), [name]Montgomery[/name] (vetoed), [name]Anderson[/name] (family name, will be used as a middle name option)

I really like [name]Dominic[/name], [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Alistair[/name]! I wouldn’t worry about the nickname [name]Ali[/name] - I grew up with 2 boys named [name]Ali[/name] (one was his full name and the other was a nickname for [name]Alexander[/name]) and they were never teased and I think kids will find a way to feminise any name if they want to. Maybe the [name]Alastair[/name] spelling would help with avoiding [name]Alice[/name]?

Anyway… what about:

Let me know if you like any or if I’m completely going in the wrong direction!

One of my cousins has the middle name [name]Roosevelt[/name]. I have never liked the name, especially not as a first name. Sorry!
