Yolonda Blue

[name]Hi[/name] there. I’m new around here and would love your advice on my daughters name.
I have 3 children already.
[name]Roman[/name] [name]Alexzander[/name] ([name]Romy[/name]) 5 years old
[name]Alana[/name] [name]Cole[/name] 5 years old
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]True[/name] (usually called E-vee) 5 years old

I’m not a big fan of how popular my childrens names are becoming, and definately do not want a popular for my 4th child.
My favorite names so far are…

[name]Elliot[/name] [name]Kae[/name] ( I used to love the nn [name]Ellie[/name] for this name but now it is everywhere! Plus, Im not sure if I like how close [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name] are.)
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Dae[/name] (love this name but am trying so hard to stay away from names that sound similar or start with the same letter)
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]May[/name]
[name]Mara[/name] [name]Paige[/name] ([name]Mar[/name]-UH)
[name]Petra[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Emery[/name]

It’s a lot of “favorite” names…I know. But I am having such a difficult time! With [name]Romy[/name], [name]Alana[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] I was on bedrest for 3 months so I had plenty of time to think! My husband, [name]Jason[/name], is neutral when it comes to names. As long as it isn’t too out there, he goes with what I love. I also like names that have nicknames. [name]Alana[/name] doesn’t really have a nn, but is sometimes called [name]Lanny[/name] [name]Cole[/name].
Hmmmm… I suppose that sums things up. The three are pestering me to name her [name]Yolonda[/name] [name]Blue[/name], after their favorite book and [name]Romy[/name] and Evies favorite color. I definately will not use [name]Yolonda[/name], but would consider using [name]Blue[/name] as a mn if it sounded okay.
Oh, one more thing. My full name is [name]Rory[/name] [name]Ann[/name] [name]Paisley[/name] (yes. I’m aware of the fact that my first name and middle names spell rap. I’m not the biggest fan of this fact) Anyways, I would love to try and incorperate my name in somehow.

Tall order. I know. Any suggestions?

[name]Elliot[/name] [name]Kae[/name]: For me, this issue isn’t whether [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name] sound alike, but the fact that they’re very, very different stylistically. [name]Evelyn[/name] is quite classic and feminine, while [name]Elliot[/name] is a masculine boy’s name. (While [name]Alana[/name] isn’t classic, it’s still very feminine and beautiful, similarly putting it at odds with the masculine [name]Elliot[/name].) When you’ve got two sisters with feminine names, a child with a boys’ name will be confused for a boy.

[name]Cora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: I absolutely love [name]Cora[/name] (and [name]Cordelia[/name], nickname [name]Cora[/name]), but [name]Cora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] doesn’t flow very well for me. When a first name ends in “A,” I have to pause before saying a middle name beginning with a vowel. (I do love [name]Elizabeth[/name], though!)

(I think I’d avoid [name]Cora[/name], though, because it’s really close to your name, unless you’re into rhyming [name]Cory[/name] with [name]Rory[/name].)

[name]Cora[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]

[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Dae[/name] (love this name but am trying so hard to stay away from names that sound similar or start with the same letter): I love [name]Amelia[/name], too, but I’d avoid it due to [name]Alana[/name].

[name]Wren[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]: I think this name is fantastic. I grew up with a [name]Wren[/name], and she loved her name. I think [name]Wren[/name] is great with [name]Evelyn[/name] and [name]Alana[/name].

[name]Natalie[/name] [name]May[/name]: I’m not a fan of [name]Natalie[/name], but I do think it works nicely with your kids’ names.

[name]Mara[/name] [name]Paige[/name] ([name]Mar[/name]-UH): I’m not a fan of [name]Mara[/name], either, but do like a lot of the “[name]Mar[/name]” names:

[name]Marielle[/name]
[name]Maria[/name]
[name]Marisol[/name]
[name]Marissa[/name] (well, not so much [name]Marissa[/name])
[name]Miranda[/name] (not a [name]Mar[/name] name, but it’s close!)

[name]Petra[/name] [name]Jane[/name]: I love [name]Jane[/name], and while I do think [name]Petra[/name] is pretty, I’d be worried about people mispronouncing it.

[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]: I [name]LOVE[/name], [name]LOVE[/name], [name]LOVE[/name] this! I think [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] is fabulous!

Others:
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]/[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Simone[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]

[name]Violet[/name] [name]Emery[/name]: I love [name]Violet[/name], too.

From your list, [name]Juliet[/name] is my favorite, with [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] close behind.

I think [name]Romy[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] are pretty close to [name]Rory[/name], but other names are:

[name]Aurora[/name] (Perhaps you could use it as a middle name?)
[name]Isadora[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] (the first two letters)
[name]Romilly[/name] (but too close to [name]Roman[/name])
[name]Ruby[/name] (beginning and ending the same)

Good luck!

Oh my goodness, thank you for taking the time to write all that! After I posted that, I realized that it sounded like iwanted rory somewhere in her name, instead of my mns. But I talked it over with my husband & he said he wasn’t too sure about using my mns, & since I took the reins on the threes names, imgoing to let him have more input…yikes! I brought up [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name] (because after saying it a couple hundred times & thinking about it, I sorta became stuck on it :P) Sadly, he brought up a good point. [name]Even[/name] though [name]Roman[/name] goes by [name]Romy[/name], it sounds like [name]Romeo[/name]. [name]Roman[/name] & [name]Juliet[/name]. Grrr! So, I guess it is back to the drawing board! What do you guys think of:
[name]Adalaide[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Adaline[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Adella[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
But I am still weary of the whole same letter similarities.

I would [name]LOVE[/name] to use the middle name [name]Vivianne[/name] ([name]VIV[/name]-E-[name]ANN[/name]…not vivenne)…but probably not as a fn, seeing how it could be so easy to mispronounce it.

Then again [name]Violet[/name] is so beautiful too! Geez, I go in circles!

I feel the pressure now though…I was scheduled for my c section today for may 13th… ! Let the choas begin.

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Rory[/name]! Whoa! I totally missed the [name]Romeo[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] issue! Sorry about misreading [name]Vivianne[/name], too, but at least it shows that the name will be misspelled and mispronounced! (I think [name]Vivianne[/name] is pretty, by the way.)

I think [name]Adelaide[/name] (I’d spell it with the authentic e, lest she spend her life having to correct people’s spelling) and [name]Adeline[/name] (same thing with the e) are really pretty, but my personal issue, is that if I had an [name]Adelaide[/name] or [name]Adeline[/name] and called her “[name]Addie[/name],” it would make my skin crawl if people thought her full name was the trendy [name]Addison[/name].

[name]Addison[/name] is #11, I think, and shooting higher, so there are a lot of Addies walking around!

I think [name]Adella[/name] is pretty, too, but with [name]Alana[/name]… I just think it’s too close, and you don’t want to have their names become a tongue-twister when calling them to dinner (Adonna, Alalla, dinner’s ready!).

I think [name]Violet[/name] is great, but I wouldn’t use it with the last name [name]Paisley[/name]. (With [name]Paisley[/name] being a noun, “[name]Violet[/name] [name]Paisley[/name]” sounds like you’re talking about a purple paisley.) What about [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Anne[/name] [name]Paisley[/name]?

Other names:

[name]Roman[/name], [name]Alana[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name] and…

[name]Annabelle[/name]/[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Celia[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Dinah[/name]
[name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Diana[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name] (but it doesn’t really work with [name]Paisley[/name])
[name]Flora[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Francesca[/name]/[name]Frances[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name]/[name]Georgia[/name] ([name]Georgia[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name])
[name]Gemma[/name] (jem-ma) [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] (instead of [name]Juliet[/name], although it still may be too close)
[name]Simone[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Tess[/name]/[name]Tessa[/name] ([name]Tessa[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name])
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]

Good luck!

Why not have a few combos ready, and see which one fits your baby when she’s born? It will all work out…

I have 3 children already.
[name]Roman[/name] [name]Alexzander[/name] ([name]Romy[/name]) 5 years old
[name]Alana[/name] [name]Cole[/name] 5 years old
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]True[/name] (usually called E-vee) 5 years old

I love your children’s names!

I’m not a big fan of how popular my childrens names are becoming, and definately do not want a popular for my 4th child.
My favorite names so far are…

[name]Elliot[/name] [name]Kae[/name] - too similar to [name]Evelyn[/name].
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - I’m in love with this combo!
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Dae[/name] - pretty, but maybe [name]Amelia[/name] will get too popular.
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] - sorry, but this disturbs me greatly. Sounds like her poor little bones are going to break and she’ll be too skinny. [name]Sophia[/name] is a gorgeous name, but too popular.
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]May[/name] - I am a big fan of [name]Natalie[/name]. [name]Love[/name] [name]May[/name], too - my grandmother’s name.
[name]Mara[/name] [name]Paige[/name] ([name]Mar[/name]-UH) - I personally don’t like [name]Mara[/name]. I prefer [name]Marin[/name].
[name]Petra[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - I like [name]Pippa[/name] a lot better than [name]Petra[/name]. [name]Don[/name]'t know why.
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name] - Wow, I think I love this even more than [name]Cora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] if that’s possible. Great combo. But I think [name]Cora[/name] would be less likely to become super popular than [name]Juliet[/name].
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Emery[/name]

[name]Blue[/name] is a darling middle name. I don’t care for [name]Yolanda[/name].

[name]Cora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Paisley[/name]! - so cute!

I like [name]Cora[/name] & [name]Wren[/name]

[name]Roman[/name],[name]Alana[/name],[name]Evelyn[/name] & Jorah

[name]Roman[/name],[name]Alana[/name],[name]Evelyn[/name] & [name]Vera[/name]

[name]Roman[/name],[name]Alana[/name],[name]Evelyn[/name] & [name]Vienna[/name]

[name]Roman[/name],[name]Alana[/name],[name]Evelyn[/name] & [name]Isobel[/name]

[name]Roman[/name],[name]Alana[/name],[name]Evelyn[/name] & [name]Zara[/name]

[name]Roman[/name],[name]Alana[/name],[name]Evelyn[/name] & [name]Jasmine[/name]

[name]Roman[/name],[name]Alana[/name],[name]Evelyn[/name] & [name]Ophelie[/name]

My favorites are [name]Natalie[/name] [name]May[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Vivianne[/name]/[name]Vivienne[/name]! Also [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Grace[/name] are gorgeous!

Oh my goodness! I feel sooooo terribly and guilty. I just wasted your time. I can’t believe how dumb I am. You see, I failed to mention that I had two middle names, and [name]Paisley[/name] is one of them…not my last name. I am so incredibly sorry! Our last name is the spanish word for God (e-------). I hope no one is upset…I wrote that post in between feeding kids, and school drop off and seemed to not have been thinking! I still think the suggestions are marvelous though! I haven’t thought about her name today, but am cursing not being able to use [name]Juliet[/name] as a first name  . I really like [name]Vivianne[/name] [name]Juliet[/name], but am cautious of the high chance it has to be mispronounce. I would go with [name]Vivienne[/name], but something about that smith diference just doesn’t sit well with me.

Sorry again!!! From now on, I think I’m going to make sure I am understood and make sense. Oh! I wanted to tell you sorry jill, I came across as rude when I said the pronounciation of Vivanne…I didn’t even realize you spelled it different, I just wanted to make it clear (which I stink at ;] )

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Rory[/name]! I didn’t think you came off as rude at all, and I’m glad you clarified [name]Vivianne[/name] for me. (I would have pronounced it correctly, but simply read it quickly and mistook it for [name]Vivienne[/name].) [name]Don[/name]'t worry about the last name thing, either! No time was wasted, because this is a lot of fun!

I think it’s great that your last name isn’t [name]Paisley[/name], because it eliminated names ending in the “ey” sound, but maybe those can be considered now?

[name]Roman[/name], [name]Alana[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name] and:

[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] (I didn’t add it because [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Paisley[/name] sounded like a red paisley!)

Of your choices, I love [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Vivianne[/name]/[name]Vivienne[/name]. (Too bad about the [name]Romy[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] thing and [name]Cora[/name] and [name]Rory[/name] sounding so alike!) What about [name]Vivianne[/name] [name]Violet[/name]? The double Vs give a unique spin on the nickname [name]Vivi[/name]!

Keep us posted, [name]Rory[/name]!

I think [name]Vivianne[/name] [name]Blue[/name] would be a beautiful name.

I also like [name]Paisley[/name] [name]Blue[/name].

I totally agree with the [name]Roman[/name]/[name]Juliet[/name] thing, tho it’s a shame…
Never really liked [name]Cora[/name] but I’m clearly in the minority here.

I like the name [name]Wren[/name] but also think that letting your older children have some say in the name (ie mn [name]Blue[/name]) is a wonderful idea and [name]Wren[/name] [name]Blue[/name] doesn’t work.

I like [name]Petra[/name] [name]Jane[/name]! [name]Jill[/name] suggestions of [name]Audrey[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are also very cute. [name]Love[/name] [name]Violet[/name]!

[name]Rory[/name] had her baby girl! Check it out in the “Tell us what you named your baby” thread!
