Yoona

Hello everyone!

I stumbled across name Yoona somewhere a while ago and I fell in love . The problem is, I can’t find any info on it. If any of you know anything about it like the origin, meaning, etc please let me know!

Yoona is lovely!

I know [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] is a Korean name. Looking on behindthename, Yoona is listed as an alternate transcription of the original Korean Hangul.

Nameberry also lists Yuna’s origins as Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and [name_m]Breton[/name_m], so it’s truly a multicultural choice!

I’m pretty sure I saw it in the name of the day thread!

I think Yoona is derived from the Korean [name_f]Yuna[/name_f], meaning ‘kindness’ or ‘beautiful’. In Japanese, [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] is also the name of a beautiful flower, namely the sea-hibiscus, known for its pinwheel-like petals. It is also the name of a river in Dominican Republic.

They also say that among the Celts, [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] was the patron saint of the wooden shoemakers, but I have no verified source.

Overall, it’s a beautiful name. I have [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] on my never-ending list of combos, so I do like it.

I am a die hard kpop fan and there is a very popular kpop idol named Yoona so I associate the name with that. There are also many girls named [name_f]Yuna[/name_f] in the industry and as far as I know the name Yoona is of Korean origin and derived from the original spelling, [name_f]Yuna[/name_f]. I love the name, I think it’s adorable and a really cute alternative to [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
