I [name_m]WILL[/name_m] START: [name_u]Perry[/name_u]/[name_m]Parry[/name_m] what do you think about it as a boy or girl name? Which spelling do you think is better? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any ideas of names that this could be a nickname for?

[name_u]Perry[/name_u]. Out of those spellings. I would only use it for a girl. And I’d spell it [name_u]Peri[/name_u]. I have no nicknames.

[name_f]Summer[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]?

[name_f]Summer[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] - As a fn/mn combo I couldn’t really say, it would depend upon the surname, but without that information I think swapping it to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] sounds better. The names on their own are both beautiful. [name_f]Summer[/name_f] is pretty, and unique. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is the only form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I like. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is on my list of favorite girl names. I have never met anyone with the name [name_f]Summer[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].

[name_u]Perry[/name_u] - I think [name_f]Katy[/name_f] [name_m]Parry[/name_m] when I first read this, and then my mind goes to my seventh grade SS teacher Mrs. [name_u]Perry[/name_u] who was a terrible witch that had it out for me. God I hate that woman, worst teacher in my entire life. I also think of the platypus in the cartoon ‘[name_m]Phineas[/name_m] and Ferb’. The [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation? of [name_u]Paris[/name_u]. Not a name I would ever use. It sounds like a surname if anything. Overall blah name.

[name_f]Marceline[/name_f]

@elizabethchappell15: I much prefer the [name_u]Perry[/name_u] spelling. [name_m]Parry[/name_m] looks like it’s supposed to be a verb, to me. [name_u]Perry[/name_u] is cute but not too cutesy and it’s pretty masculine. I think the [name_f]Perri[/name_f]/[name_f]Perrie[/name_f] spellings are becoming more acceptable for a girl lately, however. I’m not sure how I feel about it on a girl. On a boy… I don’t know any nicknames? On a girl… [name_f]Perla[/name_f]? [name_f]Perlita[/name_f]? [name_f]Perpetua[/name_f]? [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]? Maybe even something like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

@treesarecool57: I love [name_f]Summer[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]! [name_f]Summer[/name_f] is so nice and refreshing, and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is paired nicely with it, giving it a touch of classical elegance. It flows really nicely as well.

@emmatarin: I like the look and feel of [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] but it feels a tad too Brangelina… which I know is “[name_f]Marcheline[/name_f]” but still.

My question: [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about the name [name_f]Coral[/name_f]? Really think about it and say it out loud. Is it soft? Does it come out easily? I love the imagery it evokes and how it looks on paper but I’m not sure if it’s choppy or not when said out loud. Lastly- do the combos [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Erika[/name_f] and [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] sound too mismatched, in terms of flow and/or name style?

@treesarecool57 I like [name_f]Summer[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], the middle name especially. I think it works well as a combo, and I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] would work just as well. I think [name_f]Summer[/name_f] is underused but super timely right now with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and other flower names reemerging, and I think it’s an excellent alternative to [name_u]Winter[/name_u], which I hate for some reason I can’t put my finger on. I’ve always loved [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], it sounds so smart.

@emmatarin I looove the name [name_f]Marceline[/name_f], and it frustrates me how little attention it gets and that no one even really considers it a name – [name_f]Marcheline[/name_f] looks much less like a name than [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] does to me. I have to admit though that I first came into contact with it through Adventure Time, haha… [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] the Vampire [name_f]Queen[/name_f].

@youssarian I don’t think [name_f]Coral[/name_f] is offensive to the senses in any way, though I’d personally prefer [name_f]Cora[/name_f] or [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. Something about the “l” ending maybe? (I’m also not a huge fan of [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]) It does sound way less mumbled/muddied with the ‘al’ as opposed to [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]'s awful ‘el.’ [name_f]Coral[/name_f] is definitely two-syllables, while [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] sounds almost like one (I know you didn’t ask about the name [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], I’m on a tangent). I like [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], but I do think it’d work better as [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], with [name_f]Coral[/name_f] or [name_f]Cora[/name_f] as a nn, but that’s just my personal taste. Not a fan of [name_f]Erika[/name_f], especially with a “k,” I think it’s kind of outdated. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], on the other hand, is on-trend in the UK which as we all know means it’s super cool. It’s a favorite of mine, at least.

Are we just doing girls or can I say [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]?
(If we are just doing girls, then [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f])

@emmatarin [name_f]Marceline[/name_f]. Hmmmm personally, I don’t like it that much. It sounds a little dated for some reason. I don’t know if it is pronounce [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-cel-line or [name_m]Marc[/name_m]-el-een. Either way, it reminds me of an old lady from [name_f]France[/name_f]. If I had to use it, I’d stick it in the middle name slot, it sounds good there. Or I’d call her [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] for short. I prefer [name_f]Marcy[/name_f].

@youssarian [name_f]Coral[/name_f], [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Erika[/name_f], [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I like the name [name_f]Coral[/name_f] a lot, actually :slight_smile: It rolls off the tongue nicely and it does indeed remind me of coral from the ocean. As for [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Erika[/name_f], it doesn’t sound terrible, but it doesn’t sound amazing either. I think [name_f]Erika[/name_f] [name_f]Coral[/name_f] sounds/flows better. I love the name [name_f]Coral[/name_f], and I love the name [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], but not together. It does sound a bit mismatched. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] always reminds me of [name_f]May[/name_f]. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] sounds better.

@languageisbeauty [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] (btw, this forum is boys or girls names:). I’ve never given this name much thought until now. I kind of overlook it I guess; neither liking it nor disliking it. It reminds me of [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], which then reminds me of [name_m]Robert[/name_m], which I adore because it is my dad’s name. It also reminds me of a Rubik’s Cube. Because of the latter connotation, I picture a nerdy guy solving a Rubik’s Cube. Also, it reminds me of [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], which leans it more towards the feminine side. The first syllable rhymes with boob. However, it’s one of those names that I’m at a stalemate with but I could definitely see me liking it someday. Overall, I don’t particularly hate it, but I definitely wouldn’t use it as of right now.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about the name [name_u]True[/name_u] for a girl?

@youssarian [name_f]Coral[/name_f] is a great name. It’s very cheerful. Pretty colours, pretty jewelry, a wonderful meaning. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] red is so cheerful and flattering to wear on most people. It’s a common summertime colour. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Erika[/name_f] has too many vowels with only ‘l’ ‘k’ and ‘r’ sounds to break them up - but the ‘k’ and ‘r’ happen twice! A real mouthful, I consider it unusable even as [name_f]Erika[/name_f] [name_f]Coral[/name_f]. Many people don’t like to have ‘k’ sounds represented by both 'c’s and 'k’s in a name. It isn’t neat and tidy. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]… now that’s lovely and cheerful. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] comes from [name_f]Maize[/name_f], which is also a colour. I don’t mind that, but I’m not convinced there isn’t a name just as good as [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] that would flow better. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] seems more upright, and it “jumps” (for lack of a better word) better on the tongue. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is also very cute and friendly, although poppy can be a colour, too. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f] has some similarities to [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], and although it seems more calm, it also looks classic. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] has a lot of the vowels you like, too.

@languageisbeauty I really like this name, it’s meaning, sound, and look. It reminds me [name_u]Robin[/name_u], the bird. It also does remind me of the sandwich (who cares, that sandwich is amazing!) and also of something clerical, ecclesiastical. There is something serene and peaceful about [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], but it’s also very strong. I would use it, and give him the option early on of being called [name_m]Ben[/name_m]. There is an insult where someone can be called a “rube” and I don’t know what it means, but I know it isn’t nice. The name also has an unfortunate association with [name_m]Paul[/name_m] Reubens, better known as Pee Wee [name_m]Herman[/name_m]. That wouldn’t stop me from using it, but maybe that would feel strange to you.

@elizabethchappell15
It reminds me of the film [name_u]True[/name_u] Grit, and I think that’s wonderful! You know, [name_u]True[/name_u] could be a shortform of [name_f]Trudy[/name_f], which is itself a shortform for [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f]. I would go ahead and use [name_u]True[/name_u] as long the middle name was something very simple, grounded, and Western-sounding. Probably a place name like [name_u]True[/name_u] [name_f]Alabama[/name_f], [name_u]True[/name_u] [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_u]True[/name_u] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], [name_u]True[/name_u] [name_u]Montana[/name_u], etc. [name_u]Bird[/name_u] names would also be nice. [name_u]True[/name_u] [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f], [name_u]True[/name_u] [name_f]Starling[/name_f], [name_u]True[/name_u] [name_u]Gannet[/name_u], etc. If you tend to have an abundance of frilly, soft and romantic names like [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] on your list, though, rather than birds and places, I’d stick to using [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] as the official name to fit your overall style.

[name_f]Maribel[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]?

@languageisbeauty: My first thought with this name is [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] Studdard. I have never met anyone in real life with this name, but I think its a nice name.

@elizabethchappell15: I do not like [name_u]True[/name_u] as a name. Maybe as a nickname for something, or possibly a middle name. I don’t like words as names in general.

@anyagreenwhich: [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is beautiful! I love [name_f]Maribel[/name_f]. I have never heard [name_u]Dove[/name_u] used as a name, but I think it is nice as a middle name.

[name_m]Zenon[/name_m]/Cenon for a boy? (Pronounced [name_m]Say[/name_m]-NOHN)

@elizabethchappell15 I would love it in the middle or as a nickname, but I don’t think it stands on it’s own as well as other word names. Great meaning, though!

@anyagreenwhich [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is beautiful! It’s a very magical combo!

@jenni_lynn91 I’ve never heard of Cenon ( I would use this spelling). Pronunciation would be difficult, so I would leave it in the middle.

Thoughts on [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]?

@anyagreenwheich [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. I adore the name [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] but would drop [name_u]Dove[/name_u] because it reminds me of the brand and of the past tense of the word dive.

@jenni_lynn91 [name_m]Zenon[/name_m]/Cenon. I also have never heard of this rarity before but it does have a mysterious charm.

@gmdx [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. Ok, first of all, let me talk about each individual name by itself. I don’t like [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] for a boy at all. I love the name [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. And I’m ok with [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. They all flow well but I’m not a fan of 3 names.

[name_u]Ashby[/name_u] ([name_u]Ash[/name_u]-bee) for a boy or girl

@anyagreenwich [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is fantastic!

@jenni_lynn91 [name_m]Zenon[/name_m] would definitely be pronounced like “[name_f]ZEE[/name_f] non” like the movie for me. Cenon would be closer to the pronunciation you’re looking for, but it still seems like a fairly difficult first name to live with regarding spelling and pronunciation. I agree that I would leave it in the middle.

@gmdx I’m starting to like [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] in the first name spot for a boy. [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] flows very nicely and sounds handsome.

Okay, going crazy trying to find a middle for Maryelle. Last name is 3 syllables so ideally a shorter middle name is preferred.
Maryelle [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
Maryelle Kimarie (pronounced almost like [name_u]Emery[/name_u] but with a [name_f]Ki[/name_f]- instead of E-)
Maryelle [name_f]Promise[/name_f]
Maryelle [name_f]Saba[/name_f] (SAH-buh)
Maryelle [name_u]Sky[/name_u]/[name_u]Skye[/name_u]
Maryelle [name_u]Kiah[/name_u]/[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]/[name_f]Kaya[/name_f]
Maryelle [name_f]Carina[/name_f]
Maryelle Ruthie
Maryelle Cynthie
Maryelle Saffron

Normally I’m super picky with the names I use on my combos and I have to really love a name to consider it but I just can’t find the right fit with Maryelle so I’m considering any and all suggestions and opinions, lol.

EDIT: Oops, posted at the same time! Honestly Ashby is feminine to me.
