I thought it would be fun to post a few of our favorite character names we’ve used in the past! I know I’m always super excited when I come across a character name that I really love, so I’m guessing you guys are too!
Some of my favorites that I’ve used/I’m using (my favorite characters tend to be the love interests… shocking, I know):

What are some of your favorite character names?
Hmm, that’s a tough question. Most names I use are because I’m in love with them at the time, but eventually they just start to feel a little lackluster, because I’ve written and thought about the character so much. Here are some names that I absolutely loved when I picked them out:

[name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] (a [name_m]French[/name_m] teacher)

I hope I’m not the only writer that feels like the characters practically name themselves!?! 
Sometimes I might not even particularly care for the name, but it is impossible to change it because it is so much part of the character from the beginning.
Some of my favorites recently in my writing: [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_m]Ishmael[/name_m], Maximilienne (Makes me laugh…She had the misfortune of being named that-- she goes by [name_f]Milly[/name_f]), [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] (she’s not written yet, just in my head still), [name_m]Grant[/name_m], (unwritten, just in basic plot), and [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] (She is not written yet either, only drawn in my sketchbook. Actually, [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] means [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] in Catalan, so its kind of a made up name.)
@bookbug I definitely agree with you- the characters name themselves. A lot of the time I don’t really have any feelings about the name, or I really dislike it, but it is just their name and to change it would feel wrong. For example, I have a character named [name_f]Carlene[/name_f]. She’s abrasive, a bit of a tart and none too classy. I dislike the name, but it is just so her. My characters often cause the name nerd in me to die a little bit inside :). Another problem I have is when awful characters insist on being called names I love. I think I dislike that the most (because I can never get past that association), but you have to let it slide :).
P.S: [name_f]Rosella[/name_f]'s are a really beautiful parrot that is native to Australia. I’ve always loved that name.

I tend to love all the names that I use in my writing. In my current novel, my favorite ones are [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m].
