Lately I’ve just been loving names ending in -ette. It’s such a classic feminine ending but with a very different vibe from names ending in -ia, -ela, or -ana. I see them as a bit quirkier and more high energy, but just as sweet.
My favourites lately:
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] - [name_m]The[/name_m] swan imagery is so swoonworthy and [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is operatic yet approachable in this totally unique way. [name_m]The[/name_m] many [name_f]Swan[/name_f] [name_m]Lake[/name_m] retellings has given [name_f]Odette[/name_f] the feminissima ballerina vibes but Odette’s sound isn’t decadent or frilly. Nicknames [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_m]Teddy[/name_m], or [name_m]Odie[/name_m] really bring it down to earth.
[name_f]Yvette[/name_f] - I can’t get over how much I’m loving [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] right now. I used to picture bingo cards and polyester, but now I picture winning bingo cards and stylish polyester. In all seriousness, [name_f]Yvette[/name_f] has a seriously gorgeous sound, and it combines a ton of modern trends - high Scrabble value, unique initial, and a totally unique way to get to the nickname Yvy (and how cute is that spelling?)
[name_f]Georgette[/name_f] - I can’t get over how cute nickname [name_f]Georgie[/name_f] is on a girl and while [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is a modern classic, [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] takes all that warm and sunny energy and fits it into a gingham dress. [name_f]Georgette[/name_f] is just so quirky and fun.
Honourable mentions: [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] (is the daughter of a close friend, or it would definitely be on my list), [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Reinette[/name_f], and [name_f]Olivette[/name_f].

Odette is one (Odette “Dottie” is great! I never thought of that!), I also like Arlette, Valette, Rosette, Robinette, and Lunette.
My favorite is probably [name_f]Colette[/name_f]!

I prefer the -et ending over -ette but [name_f]Odette[/name_f] is one I will always adore
