[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Anais[/name]. While I do like [name]Elodie[/name] and [name]Emilie[/name], I think it’d be much harder to get those pronunciations in [name]America[/name]. Besides, I just love [name]Anne[/name] names with [name]Violet[/name]!
Thanks for the input everyone! I should have probably mentioned that I am from little ol’ New Zealand, and there aren’t too many people here who speak French haha. My husband and I both love [name]Anais[/name], however I’m not sure ANYONE in this country will know how to pronounce/spell it, I had never even heard of the name until I went to [name]France[/name]. While this isn’t a huge deal as it’s only a middle name, I’m not sure I see the point in having such a beautiful middle name when it will just get butchered! While most people won’t acknowledge the accent above the ‘E’ in Élodie and Émilie, at least they will still sound similar, even when pronounced wrong (I just like to have the accent there as they are both traditional French names - keeping it real!)
So to cut a long story short, we have decided on [name]Violet[/name] Élodie. After all the discussion about pronunciation etc, it was my darling husband who made the decision by saying “Élodie means ‘[name]Marsh[/name] flower’ - which is something beautiful grown out of something ugly”. [name]Don[/name]'t get me wrong, my husband thinks I’m the most beautiful thing in the world, but we always joke about how our little girl is going to be so beautiful even though we are both pretty average looking haha. It seems to fit her!
Now I just have to get through the next 8 weeks until we can finally meet her!
[name]Violet[/name] Élodie (pronounced ay-lo-[name]DEE[/name]) - My [name]Favorite[/name], I’m french canadian and I feel this has the best flow.
[name]Violet[/name] Émilie (pronounced ay-mi-[name]LEE[/name]) - she’ll just get emily
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Ana[/name]ïs (pronounced ah-na-EES) - I’m sorry, but even being french I see Anus, and with violet I see “violent Anus”
“Violent Anus” made me laugh!
