Your favourite 'S' names for boys?

I’m trying to come up with some great boys’ names for a friend who would like to honour her grandmother, [name_f]Susan[/name_f]. She’s Jewish, and although not particularly religious (so they don’t have to be Hebrew names or anything, in fact she seems to quite like European-feeling names) it’s apparently traditional to honour deceased relatives by choosing a name beginning with the same letter. So far she sort of likes [name_u]Sam[/name_u] (but isn’t sure about [name_u]Sam[/name_u] by itself, and doesn’t like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] because of the “mule” sound, she says).

So, what are your favourite boys’ names which begin with S? She’d also be willing to consider names with the same meaning, but I haven’t found any boys’ names which share [name_f]Susan[/name_f]'s meaning (lily).

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_u]Sidney[/name_u]. If she wants to go for a similar ‘[name_f]Su[/name_f]’ sound there’s [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]/[name_u]Sonny[/name_u] (I prefer the latter spelling).

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], and [name_u]Spencer[/name_u].

Some others ideas: [name_m]Soren[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_m]Seamus[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]. [name_m]Stellan[/name_m] and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] both share some sounds in common with [name_f]Susan[/name_f].

The only S names that I have on my list are [name_m]Siegfried[/name_m] and Sverre. If she likes [name_u]Sam[/name_u], maybe she’ll like [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Sean[/name_m], [name_m]Scott[/name_m], [name_u]Seth[/name_u] or [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]?

I am seconding other berry suggestions of

[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]
[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite S boys’ name is [name_m]Struan[/name_m]! I also like [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_m]Stuart[/name_m].

[name_u]Salem[/name_u]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]

[name_m]Samson[/name_m] was my first thought.

[name_u]Seth[/name_u] is another nice one.

[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u] ( only spelled like this )
[name_m]Santos[/name_m]
[name_m]Santiago[/name_m]
[name_m]Silvan[/name_m]

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m].

I like [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_u]Spencer[/name_u].

Thanks for the help, everyone! She’s added [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], and [name_m]Soren[/name_m] to her list

[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_m]Stephen[/name_m]
[name_u]Shane[/name_u]
[name_m]Sean[/name_m]/[name_u]Shaun[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]

I like [name_m]Samson[/name_m], Samwise, [name_m]Saul[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_u]Shane[/name_u], [name_u]Sterling[/name_u], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u].

Like your friend, I like [name_u]Sam[/name_u] but do not like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m].

[name_u]Sorrel[/name_u] is interesting because like [name_f]Susan[/name_f] it’s a botanical name? [name_m]Silas[/name_m] could work in that sense too.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_m]Seamus[/name_m]

I forgot Shadrach, which is odd because I actually like it more than a couple of the other names I remembered!

[name_m]Silas[/name_m] is also my favorite boys name. (It worries me how popular it is on Nameberry and the SSA list, but I don’t know any little [name_m]Silas[/name_m]'s…yet!)

I also really like [name_m]Stellan[/name_m], [name_u]Shaw[/name_u], [name_m]Sayer[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Sully[/name_u]). I like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], but mostly for the nn [name_m]Baz[/name_m]. I have a couple of Guilty Pleasure S names too. [name_u]Storm[/name_u], [name_m]Slade[/name_m], and [name_u]Sage[/name_u].

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u] (Which I think has a similar sound to [name_f]Susan[/name_f], and could be a great choice!)
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Sander[/name_u]
[name_u]Shawn[/name_u]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
Syler
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] or [name_m]Samson[/name_m]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_u]Sal[/name_u]
[name_m]Saul[/name_m]
[name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] nn [name_m]Sly[/name_m]
