[name_m]Just[/name_m] a little question:
If someone would ask you to write it down, would you instinctively spell it with one L ([name_f]Lilian[/name_f]) or with 2 ([name_f]Lillian[/name_f])?
[name_m]Just[/name_m] a little question:
If someone would ask you to write it down, would you instinctively spell it with one L ([name_f]Lilian[/name_f]) or with 2 ([name_f]Lillian[/name_f])?
I’d spell [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] with 2 L’s.
I prefer [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. I think it’s a beautiful name.
It’s a gorgeous name, but my first thought was ‘Where’s the other L?’. Instinctively I’d spell it [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], unless [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] is an honour name and even then probably only if it’s in the middle.
My thoughts.
Since [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is the more common spelling I’d assume that unless I knew otherwise.
my great grandma is [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f], shes 98, been married for almost 76 years and is the cutest little old lady ever.
I would automatically think it was spelled [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] witg two L’s, but how I would prefer it spelled would depend on if I used the nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or not. If I used it I would spell it [name_f]Lilian[/name_f]. If I was just going to call her [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], that’s how I would spell it.
I’ve never seen [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] spelled [name_f]Lilian[/name_f]. I would think it was misspelled unless otherwise informed.
I’ve never encountered the [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] spelling before. It looks incomplete to me.
I like the spelling [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] better
I worked at a daycare where we would write the child’s name on a name tag when they arrived and it never would have occurred to me to ask “how many L’s”, I would automatically assume [name_f]Lillian[/name_f].
I would write it with just one L, the way I would write the flower-name [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I think that in a way, the second L is unecessary frill. I also spell [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] with just one L.
I prefer the more streamlined and feminine spelling [name_f]Lilian[/name_f], but instinctively I would spell it [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], if that makes sense?
It’s a beautiful name.
I’d probably ask how many l’s, since I’ve seen both spellings used. I think [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is more commonly found, though, and personally I prefer it with two l’s.
I would automatically spell [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] with 2 Ls
I think [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] is incomplete. I much prefer the more popular spelling of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. From [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] the nicknames [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] would be ok, but I prefer [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] because of the two L’s in [name_f]Lillian[/name_f].
Thanks, guys!
I’m personally not sure which spelling I prefer, but I would personally spell it [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] as well. And although I might slightly prefer [name_f]Lilian[/name_f] it might cause some spelling inconveniences, seen as how many of you instinctively fo with [name_f]Lillian[/name_f].
I instinctively spell it [name_f]Lillian[/name_f].
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is how I instinctively spell it, too.
