List all the current possibilities for names in your ideal family…pending approval from your partner :slight_smile:

My ideal family (as of right now), would include 2-3 children. I know it’s not really possible to control the sex of your children (unless using the shuttles method which isn’t exactly sound science), so list every possible birth order!

If I have a boy first, I’d like him to be called [name_m]William[/name_m] “[name_m]Wills[/name_m]” [name_u]Francis[/name_u], after my maternal grandparents. If the next is a girl, she’ll be called [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] “[name_f]Ginny[/name_f]” [name_u]James[/name_u], and then I’ll stop. If the second is a boy, he’d be names [name_m]Henry[/name_m] “[name_m]Harry[/name_m]” [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], and I’d try for another. If the third after [name_m]Harry[/name_m] was a girl, she’d be [name_f]Ginny[/name_f]. If the third were a boy, he’d be [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Eugene[/name_m], after my father’s parents.

If my eldest is a girl, she’d be called [name_f]Julia[/name_f] “[name_u]Jules[/name_u]” [name_f]Kate[/name_f], after my two best friends (both names [name_f]Julia[/name_f]) and my sister, [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]. I’d stop after the second, if that were a boy, he’d be [name_m]Harry[/name_m], and a girl would be [name_f]Ginny[/name_f].

If any of these get shut down, I also like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] “Bash” [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] “[name_f]Lilibet[/name_f]” [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

So what do you guys think about these? What possibilities do you foresee for your own families?

For me it depends whether or not I have an SO, so I’ll do both possibilities.

Without an SO, I’d have 2 kids, ideally a girl and a boy.

The first I’d like to be biological (mainly so I could experience pregnancy/birth) and the second I’d consider adopting. Of course that might mean being unable to choose their name, but imagining I could.
Ignoring order (I like the idea of a girl then a boy) they’d be:

The first two would probably have a one or two year gap, then maybe a slightly larger 3-5 year gap between 2 and 3, then a one or two year gap between 3 and 4. My ideal sibset order would be girl, boy, girl, boy.

I want 3, preferably a boy and two girls. I’d want the boy first because I think I’ll be more relaxed with a boy, and I’d want him to be able to protect his sisters as they grow up. I’ll list my (current) top 3 combos for each possibility, though, and order won’t affect their names.

I want two boys and a girl - currently - and have two sibling sets for that situation. One is more mythological/historical Çağrı Aslan, [name_f]Tu[/name_f]ğrul Eretne and Konrul Tuluhan. The other is more geeky Kayra Meriyem, Solin Minay and Talu Masal. (The m middle names are un-intentional but I also love them because my maiden name starts with m too - and I don’t want to change it that much. )

I’ve imagined two girls and a boy. [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m], and [name_u]Everly[/name_u]. Although [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is sometimes [name_f]Clara[/name_f], I can never decide!

As for middles, our first daughter is 100% going to be [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] was my great-grandmothers name and [name_u]Clare[/name_u] is the name my mother in law was going to call her daughter that she sadly lost.

Keeping the two middle name family thing going I’ve thought of

[name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] [name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] - [name_u]Evan[/name_u] is my SO’s grandfathers name, and a name that has been in the family for a long time, and [name_u]James[/name_u] is my mothers maiden name. IDK if we’ll actually use this combo though.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my mums middle name (I prefer it spelled with an s over a z) and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is mine. Of course, this doesn’t honour SO’s side of the family, and is purely hypothetical (for now!!)

Ideally I’d like 5, and I’d love it to be 3 girls and 2 boys, although I’d be open to more (or less!) depending on what it’s like once I’m an actual mom haha. I’m very passionate about adoption, and want to have more adopted kids than biological, and I feel very, very strongly that I want my first to be adopted. I don’t even want their to be a hint of an idea that I may not love my adopted kid anywhere near as much as the biological kid I already have. (I’d also like to have at least one foster child in the house at just about any given moment, but that’s a different story entirely!)
