Your MC’s Name and Why

What is your main character/characters’ name(s) and why did you pick them?

My MC is named [name_f]Aimee[/name_f]. It’s an honor name for me, and I figured that I’d like to use it on a character if I couldn’t do so on a child.

I have too many projects in progress, but here are the MCs of the main two…

  • Becca: I was liking the name when I started the project, and I think it fits the character well.
  • Sadie: One of my favorite names, and I think it fits her really well- sweet, but with a little kick to it

Lives with her parents [name_m]Jason[/name_m] [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] [name_u]Miller[/name_u] and Hilela [name_f]Paige[/name_f] [name_u]Miller[/name_u] and her sister [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] [name_u]Miller[/name_u].

For the 3 projects I’m working on (2 are related):

[name_f]Petra[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_u]Keller[/name_u]- it took me a lot longer than usual to find a first name that fit her (and by that I mean about a week… I try to name characters quickly because it becomes harder the longer I let it drag on). I decided that her character would be loosely based on [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m], which is how I got to [name_f]Petra[/name_f]. In the story, she explains that she was named after her mom’s drug dealer’s niece.
Her middle name was chosen by her best friend who decided he needed a full name to call her when she wouldn’t listen. Legally, she has like twelve middle names (by her own estimation) that were given to her when her royal uncle and aunt adopted her as a toddler. She doesn’t know any of them though so neither do I!
Her last name is actually a fun story. I looked for something with a similar meaning to [name_m]Pan[/name_m] but all I could find that might work was [name_u]Keller[/name_u], which means “cellar”. I figured it was a place/thing that holds food, like a pan, but I wasn’t sold on it so I went to my favorite place to find surnames: rosters of my favorite sports teams. Since she’s technically a princess, I decided to check the Royals’ roster. At the same time, I texted my friend who “our” favorite players are (she loves baseball, I couldn’t care less, so whoever her favorite players are, they’re mine too). And who do I find on that roster and in my friend’s text about “our” favorite players? [name_m]Brad[/name_m] [name_u]Keller[/name_u]! I think it was a sign.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Sahar[/name_f]- truthfully, I picked her first name because I liked it, I thought it sounded like a princess name, and I had a lot of M names on my list at the time so I figured I wouldn’t miss it. Then as the story developed, it got some meaning. Each name honors a different princess. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] means “strength in battle” and honors my favorite princess, [name_f]Mulan[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f], which means “lettuce” itself, who is my second favorite princess.
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] means “daughter of the sea”, which honors [name_f]Moana[/name_f] (and [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], although Matilda’s sister’s name is a more direct honor).
[name_f]Sahar[/name_f] means “dawn”, like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].

[name_f]Amara[/name_f] [name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] Acerbi- I named each of the main characters of this story after one of the seven deadly sins. [name_f]Amara[/name_f] is wrath. Her first name is a bit of a cheat; [name_f]Amara[/name_f] means “grace” in Igbo but Amaro and [name_f]Mara[/name_f] mean “bitter” so I went with it.
[name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f] is after her great-grandmother’s sister, who fled [name_f]Italy[/name_f] with her great-grandmother after killing several fascists during WWII. This started the family business of being assassins.
Acerbi means “bitter, harsh, severe”, another nod to the deadly sin. All the women in [name_f]Amara[/name_f]’s family’s names follow a similar pattern: her mom is [name_f]Alana[/name_f], her grandmother was [name_f]Adela[/name_f], and her great-grandmother was [name_u]Antonia[/name_u] “[name_f]Anita[/name_f]”.

I have four MCs, two of which are narrators as well (two ends of the story that intertwine). A lot of my character’s first names just came to me, I was sitting there and was like “oooh, I like the name ___ for this character!”
Lessy [name_f]Charlotta[/name_f] Losun- Lessy, of course, came to me. [name_f]Charlotta[/name_f] is because a) I have a friend named [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] I wanted to pay homage to and b) I had a character named [name_f]Charlotta[/name_f] in a draft of a story that never took off the ground, and I liked [name_f]Charlotta[/name_f] (the character and the name). Losun was a compound of the words ‘low’ and ‘sun’ because the name fits the character to me and I truly don’t know why .
[name_f]Ila[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] Caravago- [name_f]Ila[/name_f] came to me before I even knew [name_f]Isla[/name_f] was a name! [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is, hilariously, after my dog [name_f]Lovise[/name_f] because people always treat [name_f]Ila[/name_f] like she’s some kind of pet because she’s small in stature and cute in her own way. Caravago does not fit her at all, Caravago rolls off the tongue nicely and looks nice and [name_f]Ila[/name_f] is fiery and sometimes harsh. This was done on purpose, [name_f]Ila[/name_f] doesn’t like or use her last name because it connects her to her mom, [name_f]Mira[/name_f] Caravago, who is possessed by an evil spirit and is on a rampage burning up their town.
[name_f]Zoie[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] Ilocazie- [name_f]Zoie[/name_f], as well, came to me on its own. I originally had it spelled Zoaie, but after getting advice from some of you guys, changed it to [name_f]Zoie[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] was because [name_f]Zoie[/name_f] is moving to a “curious new place” and so I thought that [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would fit as a nod to [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland’s “curiousness” (curiosity?). I gave the name a backstory in my story as well. Ilocazie (eye-low-cah-zee) is Anacrams of [name_f]Zoie[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] with extra letters (and missing ones) somewhere. [name_f]Zoie[/name_f] doesn’t know her real last name, so that is why I created one that is so “handmade”.
[name_f]Becka[/name_f] [name_f]Natasha[/name_f] Erminegardett- [name_f]Becka[/name_f]’s first name is a nod to a girl I know, [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], who goes by [name_f]Becca[/name_f] sometimes. I like to use slightly more unique spellings on characters I want to stand out ([name_f]Ila[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Zoie[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]/Zoey) so I put the k in to replace the second ‘c’ in [name_f]Becca[/name_f]. [name_f]Natasha[/name_f] was a name that screams “goody-two-shoes” to me, which fits [name_f]Becka[/name_f]’s character perfectly (also, it means ‘birthday of the [name_m]Lord[/name_m]’, which makes no sense to me). Erminegardett is a play on Erminegarde because I wanted to give [name_f]Becka[/name_f]’s name a spin on an old-fashioned classic name.

Ivy [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u] - I chose [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] because it’s a not very common but not uncommon name and it fits the vibe I’m going for with the character.

Lydia Hastings - I chose [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] because it was a common name in the late 1800s when the character was born and one that has remained somewhat common/wouldn’t sound weird on a 40 year old today. I chose Hastings because it came up when I googled “common last names in the 1800s US” and sounds good paired with [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].

Sounds like an [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] to me. I’d say [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_f]Serenity[/name_f], but your name is [name_f]Serenity[/name_f]… [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] then I guess (I like [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] if you don’t think people’d make the connection)

Most of my characters names just feel right, but there is a story behind several of them.

Starfire: I went through a tough time naming her, especially because I was a young kid when she was named. She’s a dragon and I wanted her name to be similar to [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] Funke’s way of naming dragons in her books (since [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] Funke is the author who really got me writing in the first place and I like to throw in little tributes to her when I can). But, because this was before I discovered the full glories of the internet, I struggled to find a suitable name. Finally, while reading something one day, I saw the name Starfire. And it clicked. [name_f]My[/name_f] beautiful, kind, slightly lost dragon was named Starfire. And she has been ever since.

Nyxelio: Since Nyxelio is a very special fellow, he needed a name that reflected what he is (a Deyeonad with both the power of shadow and the power of sun, extremely rare). I couldn’t find a suitable name, so I combined [name_u]Nyx[/name_u] and [name_m]Elio[/name_m] to get Nyxelio (his name is pronounced nicks-ey-lee-oh), meaning “night sun”. I am honestly still surprised by how perfect this is. The name is soft-sounding, just like the character is soft spoken and friendly. It’s unique, but not in a crazy “look at me!” sort of way, just like him (he doesn’t go around flaunting his uniqueness).

[name_u]Hunter[/name_u]: [name_m]Frankly[/name_m], at first, this just seemed like an awesome name for a Vampire. Then I realized something. It’s a total misnomer. [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] is by no means a hunter (except for hunting adventure and the occasional bug). He’s actually very harmless and really really cute. Really, Vampires in my world aren’t much like those that you’re probably familiar with at all. They don’t usually drink blood. But, some Vampires like to joke about their reputation as monsters. The story within the story is that Hunter’s dad (who was named Robert) had a really interesting sense of humor, one that [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] himself inherited.

Anyway, I’ll add some more character name stories later.

I have several MCs of my stories. But I’ll only name a few.

[name_u]October[/name_u] Blakewell: I picked [name_u]October[/name_u] instantly. I decided on [name_u]October[/name_u] because the excerpt I ended up writing (which happens sometime in the story) when I first started the story, I had named her [name_u]October[/name_u]. I was going to change it but it just stuck. She’s a witch but it’s a secret so I figured [name_u]October[/name_u] fit her. Plus [name_u]Theo[/name_u] (the deuteragonist) tends to tease her about her name because he finds it weird that her name is [name_u]October[/name_u]. Blakewell came to me recently because [name_u]Blake[/name_u] means dark or black and Well means spring. So [name_m]Black[/name_m] Well is would be the full meaning. Idk why I decided on Blakewell honestly.

[name_f]Selkie[/name_f] [name_f]Marina[/name_f] Jøsendal: [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] is the [name_u]Pirate[/name_u] [name_f]Queen[/name_f]. I don’t know why I decided on [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] but I needed something that had some kind of meaning as far as the sea goes. [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] seemed to just work. Plus [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] is Sottish and in Celtic, [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] means seal folk. So it has some connection to the sea. Her middle name which is [name_f]Marina[/name_f] came to me because that name is a generational name in her family. Her mom’s middle name was [name_f]Marina[/name_f] and so was her grandmother and great grandmother. Jøsendal, I picked as her last name at random because she’s descended Norwegian-born [name_m]Scot[/name_m]. So her last name makes sense (kind of).

[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] Hallowes: [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] is Scottish born with descendants from all over the UK, including [name_u]Ireland[/name_u]. So [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] is the name I picked because I didn’t know what else to name her. While she is Scottish and her name is Greek, it just works? But she doesn’t go by [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] anyways. [name_u]Red[/name_u] is her chosen name. She was named [name_u]Red[/name_u] by those in her compound because red is the color of her hair. Plus [name_u]Red[/name_u] fit in with the title of the story so I went with it. [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] was the middle I picked because it’s [name_u]Irish[/name_u] and she’s a direct descendant from an [name_u]Irish[/name_u] family. Hallowes was her last name cuz i didn’t have any other ideas as far as last names go. Hallowes is an [name_f]English[/name_f] surname and its meaning is Hollow. Plus [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] is from a post-apocalyptic story so her name has a right to be all over the place since [name_u]Scotland[/name_u] is now called The Outer and Scots, [name_u]Irish[/name_u], Welsh, etc doesn’t exist anymore since the downfall of the outbreak.

But yeah! That’s three of my MCs. I love these three very much so I’m proud of their names!

[name_u]Blake[/name_u] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Scott[/name_u]

I wanted her to have a sort of edgy first name because she’s a rebellious person who doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. I gave her a super-feminine middle name because I feel it represents a softer side of her that comes out only around people she’s close to, like her best friend (my other mc)

[name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Kent[/name_m]

Everyone calls him [name_u]Cal[/name_u], except for [name_u]Blake[/name_u] on occasion. I don’t know how I got to naming him [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], I guess I just really liked the idea of him going by [name_u]Cal[/name_u] for short. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] just sort of popped into my head when I decided on his first name.

King Henrich Sophron: For years, Henrich had no name. He was just “the king”. Finally, I decided he needed a real name. I’m not sure why I chose Henrich or Sophron, they just seemed right.

Quilliam: Quilliam is from a book that is basically Romeo And Juliet retold with Equines and Griffins. He is the Romeo character here, but I wasn’t finding a name starting with R that clicked for him. So, I decided to go with a name similar to William (a nod to William Shakespeare). I searched Nameberry and found Quilliam. That name clicked and it became his name.

Fireclaw, Greytalon, Agilepaw, Ashwing, Thunderwing, and basically any other Griffin name: The majority of Griffins and Griffin hybrids have names like these. I’m not sure where I got the style from, but it works for me and is unique for Griffin culture.

ooh, so fun to see this come back! especially because im not working on any of the three projects I posted about in 2020 anymore

[name_m]Castle[/name_m] [name_u]Moon[/name_u] “Cas” - I actually saw this name recommended on nb! I was absolutely hooked by it, couldn’t get it out of my head, I just had to know the story of a girl named [name_m]Castle[/name_m] [name_u]Moon[/name_u]. in the novel, she was named by the AI/human hybrid who found her, and he gave her a very logical name: she was found outside a castle, under a full moon. he is the only one who calls her by her full name. to everyone else, she goes by [name_m]Cas[/name_m]

[name_u]Auberon[/name_u] Elor “Aubrey” - he doesn’t get a last name until the end of the first book, when he embraces his kingly nature, and the name of the ancient [name_m]King[/name_m] Elor. my original face claim for the character was actor [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u], and the name just stuck. similar to [name_m]Cas[/name_m], the only person who uses his full name is the AI/human hybrid who raised him. after writing with this character for so long, ive forgotten that most people in the US view [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] as a feminine name lol

[name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_m]Salo[/name_m] - this novel started as a short story, in which I eluded to a character with the surname [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. that character eventually morphed into this one, and when she did, [name_u]Sage[/name_u] became her first name. I don’t think there’s a story to her surname [name_m]Salo[/name_m] other than I liked how it sounded, and I liked the alliteration. I added a middle name for my own amusement. she finds it too frilly; I wouldn’t recommend calling her by it if you don’t want to make a powerful enemy

[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_m]Salo[/name_m] - another name I found on nb! as in, once I had Sage’s name set, I went through the list of names other users who like [name_u]Sage[/name_u] also like, and I found [name_f]Opal[/name_f]. got lucky that I didn’t mind how it flowed with the surname [name_m]Salo[/name_m]. she is much more neutral about her middle name than her sister. if anyone is curious, there are two more [name_m]Salo[/name_m] siblings: [name_m]Griff[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_u]Fern[/name_u] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]

[name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] “Chrissy” [name_m]Barker[/name_m]: Miss [name_m]Barker[/name_m] was always the cheerful optimistic supportive neighbor in the Ghosts In The Attic and the future perfect adoptive mother for [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_u]Joseph[/name_u] [name_u]Perry[/name_u]. But she didn’t used to have a first name. I’m not sure why exactly I chose [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f], except that it clicked for her (an added bonus is that she and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] both have flower names). [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f] is the perfect nickname, it’s bouncy and casual, just like her.

Lol I actually write random character name stories from the perspective of the character. I also have a lot of MCs for many different works-in-progress.

[name_f]Hailey[/name_f] [name_u]Madison[/name_u] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] - I started writing this story when I was about 11, and at the time [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] was simply my biggest name crush. I really had a thing for 90-2000s names back then (Emily, [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], etc), so that’s probably where that came from. Her middle name, [name_u]Madison[/name_u], came from the same place.
Her last name, [name_m]Johnson[/name_m], was something I just randomly slapped on the end because I couldn’t think of anything else. I used to be very uncreative with my last names until very recently.

[name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] Cunningham - There was a time in my life where I really looked up to this girl named [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]. She was intelligent, extremely athletic, bubbly, and kind to everyone she knew. I really aspired to be like her, but I knew that I couldn’t, so I decided to honor her by naming this character almost exactly after her.
Her first name is exact in spelling, and her last name has all of the same sounds from her real last name. Her middle name [name_f]Grace[/name_f] was the last thing I came up with. Since I was being lazy (lord I must’ve been a really lazy preteen), her middle name became [name_f]Grace[/name_f] because I thought it flowed nicely together and because my favorite middle name option was [name_f]Grace[/name_f].

Ariannah [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_u]Bell[/name_u] - Also named after people I know, sisters named [name_f]Arianna[/name_f] and [name_u]Elisa[/name_u]. I didn’t know them well, but they were awesome and super talented people, and besides I was crushing hard on their names. I wanted to name this character after them, but didn’t want it to be exact like I did for [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]. So I decided to use different forms/spellings of the names.
The last name [name_u]Bell[/name_u] is nothing like the real last name at all, and that is because I knew people reading the story would know the people I named the character after, and I wanted it to not be obvious. So I choose a short and simple last name that was very phonetically different, and somehow it worked. Sometimes I think that Ariannah [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_u]Bell[/name_u] ___ would’ve been nice, but this story has been read by people already, so I can’t exactly change it.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Shen - This is super basic, but I basically just named her my two favorite names, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. Those are classics that I’ve loved for a long time, and it just felt right with the character I was creating for her. Also, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is an honor for my late Chinese great-grandmother named [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I thought she could have a late relative with the same name, and it could be an honor, just like with my name. I based her very closely off of myself.
Her last name Shen was chosen because it’s a very generic [name_f]Asian[/name_f] last name that encompasses several cultures, and she is mixed-race [name_f]Asian[/name_f], so I thought it would work.

[name_u]Esme[/name_u] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] Thorton - [name_u]Esme[/name_u] was actually not a name I’ve always loved. In fact, I used to really despise it. But then (once again) I met a super sweet girl in my flute choir. [name_u]Amazing[/name_u] flute player, stunning girl, lovely personality. So I wanted to base this character off of her and name her after her.
Her last name, Thorton, sounds almost the same as the real girl’s, but for privacy reasons, I changed it. It now starts and ends with a different letter, though it sounds almost exactly the same.

Current story (MG ghost story): [name_f]Martha[/name_f] [name_m]Prence[/name_m]. [name_m]Set[/name_m] in the 1960s, even in the midst of all the Debbies, Lisas, Kathys, and Donnas, there’s enough old [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]England[/name_u] around to make a name like [name_f]Martha[/name_f] not too odd. Martha’s little sister is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f]. Martha’s bf is [name_f]Sara[/name_f] Dougherty; her mother named her [name_f]Sara[/name_f] after Burnett’s The [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_f]Princess[/name_f].

Still working on (2nd editing): historical fiction, setting WWII [name_u]France[/name_u]. [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and [name_u]Claude[/name_u] are hiding in the forest from the [name_m]German[/name_m] soldiers that have taken over their village. While [name_u]Claude[/name_u] does not remember, their real names are [name_u]Louise[/name_u] and [name_f]Cecile[/name_f]. Shireen [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] [name_m]Baris[/name_m] is my OC for my Heroic [name_u]Legend[/name_u] of [name_m]Arslan[/name_m] fanfiction series, X-Over Adventures in NYC, which, well, is a crossover of The Heroic [name_u]Legend[/name_u] of [name_m]Arslan[/name_m] and other anime, 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and [name_m]Young[/name_m] [name_u]Justice[/name_u], set in 21st century [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]York[/name_u] City. In this fanfic series, [name_m]Arslan[/name_m] and Shireen’s mother, Tahamine, named them after [name_m]Aslan[/name_m] from The Chronicles of [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] and Shireen Baratheon from A Song of [name_u]Ice[/name_u] and [name_u]Fire[/name_u], respectively. Also, Shireen’s name references her (usually) sweet disposition; the name means “sweet”. [name_u]Kaya[/name_u], Shireen’s middle name, came from the SSA baby names list for the year she was born. I chose [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] because I like the name and thought it went well with Shireen. And I thought the surname [name_m]Baris[/name_m] went well with both Shireen’s first and middle name.

Malort, [name_f]Ostara[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Willow[/name_u] and [name_u]Holly[/name_u]: Malort’s name actually came from the awful-tasting alcoholic drink of the same name. Given that Malort’s mother is a dark witch, I thought she’d give her kids not-so-great names, like, well, Malort. [name_f]Ostara[/name_f] was named after the goddess. Given that [name_f]Ostara[/name_f] comes from a wizarding family who are considered the medieval equivalent of hippies, and that her birthday is [name_f]April[/name_f] 20 (the goddess Ostara’s day), I thought her parents would’ve named her that. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]Willow[/name_u] and [name_u]Holly[/name_u] are named for the trees in the Celtic zodiac that correspond with their birthdays, given both Malort and [name_f]Ostara[/name_f] embrace nature and what Ostara’s family stands for (much to Malort’s mother and twin brother’s chagrin).

The [name_u]Connelly[/name_u] family, with the exception of [name_m]Othello[/name_m] and Corporal Cupcake, have names that honor my [name_u]Irish[/name_u] heritage. Corporal Cupcake, Brian’s K-9 partner, was named after a dog on the show M * A * S * H, while [name_m]Othello[/name_m] the cat got his name from the Shakespearean character. [name_f]Boudicca[/name_f], another dog, was named after the Celtic queen, while [name_f]Enya[/name_f] the guinea pig’s name was taken from the singer.

[name_f]Nelia[/name_f] V.K.S.B Elephantaye: [name_f]Nelia[/name_f] is a minor character, but one that I put a lot of thought into naming. Of course, this is just a pen name because she’s an author (her real name is [name_f]Aaliyah[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] VanOrden). I call her [name_f]Nelia[/name_f] after [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] Funke, who helped inspire me to become an author. Her four middle initials don’t stand for anything really, but it is a nod to the protagonists of Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events (Violet, [name_m]Klaus[/name_m], and [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] Baudelaire) because those kids are awesome. Finally, her last name is a tribute to a favorite childhood book of mine, But No Elephants. So, essentially Nelia’s whole existence is a little easter egg for readers.
