Your thoughts on Elliott?

Since I was about 10 I’ve loved the name [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
It’s been on my short list forever and is probably going to stay there until I used it

Now I just wanted to know what you think of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]?
Who is [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] to you? Cheeky? Smart? Funny? A little rascal or a good little boy?
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you picture an [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]?
Is [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], 2 or 3 syllables to you?
What are your favourite sibling names for [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? And your favourites from my signature?

PS: The spelling isn’t changing! [name_u]Eliot[/name_u] and [name_u]Eliott[/name_u] would sound odd in [name_m]German[/name_m]. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] looks unbalanced to me.

[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is one of my absolute favs! Had my daughter been a boy, she would have been [name_u]Elliot[/name_u].

I’ve loved [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] for ages. To me, [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] can be all of those things–cheeky, smart, funny. He can be rambunctious for a charmer. He’s sleek yet masculine. To me, it’s 3 syllables.

For my preferred sibling names, see my signature. From your sig, I think [name_u]August[/name_u] would be beautiful with [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would work well ([name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is on my list). [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is such a good fit.

I like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. Although [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is my preferred spelling, I find [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] very handsome, too. I pronounce it with three syllables.

[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] makes me picture a tall blond guy with long messy haircut and big eyes. He’s really outgoing, has great sense of humor and is really into music. He’s a bit geeky, but in a cool way. He might become an architect or an art gallery owner.

I’d pair [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] with [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. From your signature, I like [name_f]Ida[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] with it.

I have a cousin named [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], it’s quite a nice name. A rascal is what I picture. For me it is 3 syllables. I don’t know that I have favorite siblings names for it. If it helps, my cousin has two brothers named [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] and [name_m]Scott[/name_m]. From your signature I like [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].

Now I just wanted to know what you think of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? I love [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] issue is that I love [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], and [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]. Out of those four, my favorites are [name_u]Everett[/name_u] and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m].
Who is [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] to you? Cheeky? Smart? Funny? A little rascal or a good little boy? [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is a rather quiet boy. He is kind, caring, and courteous. I picture him preferring activities that do not get him too dirty.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you picture an [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]? answered above
Is [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], 2 or 3 syllables to you? 3

[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is my favorite boys name at the moment. It’s a sweet name for a little boy, yet I can see it on a grown man working in a corporate environment. I pronounce the name with three syllables. When I visualize [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], he is tall with light brown to blond hair. He’s preppy and sporty, but also has a creative side. [name_f]My[/name_f] only concern with the name is that so many people see [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] as unisex. I selfishly want it to stay a boys only name.

I generally prefer the [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] spelling, but [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is by far my second favorite spelling, and I definitely prefer it with your other favorites, for some reason! I expect a blond-haired little boy with mischievous blue eyes and tousled dirty-blond hair, a quick smile, kind, smart, responsible, helpful. He’s easily as content to sit in a corner reading a book, finding treasures in nature, or playing soccer (football?) with the neighbors. He’s well liked, but not full of himself. Very down-to-earth. I would love to meet a little [name_m]German[/name_m] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]!

I love Elliott! I immediately think of Christopher Melonis character Det. Elliot Stabler from Law and order: SVU. I think of Elliott as a rascally good boy

Edited to say…I pronounce it as three syllables. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard it said as two.

Thank you boyandgirl. I believe your children are [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]? Such wonderful names, two of my favourites as well. Especially together

Interestingly enough, I see [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] similar as you do. Some names have a very clear image for me, while [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] could be almost everybody. I’ve only ever met one [name_m]Eliott[/name_m] (he was raised bilingually in [name_m]German[/name_m] and [name_m]French[/name_m]) and his sister was [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. It’s such a sweet sibset and I’ve loved both names ever since.
(This also makes [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] together somewhat unusable for me.)

I adore [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo/name_u ([name_m]Theodore[/name_m] doesn’t work so well in [name_m]German[/name_m] but [name_u]Theo[/name_u] does).
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is one of my favourite sets, too.
I love how [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] can be paired with almost every other name, it’s such a versatile name.
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] was never a name I considered with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] but I love it now that you suggested it

Thank you so much pacifia. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] and [name_m]Scott[/name_m] make a cool sibset but are probably a bit too English for me. I love [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] with all the names you mentioned!

I love the name [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]! It’s my second favourite boy’s name of all time, and I prefer this spelling too
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] has always seemed like someone who would be both very sweet but very mischievous! A little boy who was always having sword fights to slay the imaginary dragon, and who was also very inquisitive.
I pronounce [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] as 3 syllables.
I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] from your list, very handsome.

[name_f]My[/name_f] son is named [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and we love it. After 4 years we still get tons of compliments. We are currently expecting another boy and I am worried I will never love another boy name as much as I do [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]! Our son is so funny and expressive, but sweet and kind to others. He is a bit sensitive but very smart. We picture him to be an engineer of some sort. Before he was born I thought of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] as a ‘business man’ name.

I know an [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] in his mid-thirties and he’s an entrepreneur. Looks dapper in his [name_m]Ted[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m] suits.

The other [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] I knew was at primary school. He had white blonde hair and was sporty.

Thank You!
I really love [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], too. It’s interesting that you prefer the other names with two "t"s but [name_u]Elliot/name_u with one “t”

Thanks! I can definitely picture a grown up [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] just as good as a little boy called [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
Since [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] isn’t very popular in Europe and most people only know it as a boys name, I don’t think anyone would consider it unisex here. UK is a different story, it ranks quite high there, however, I don’t believe it’s much of a unisex name there, either.
Still I secretly curse everyone naming their daughter [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] or one of it’s variants.

I’ve watched the show before but not good enough to remember any names…
My main association with Elliott right now is the little boy from E.T.
I like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] described as a rascally good boy, that’s mainly my image of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] as well.
The 2 vs 3 syllable thing is mostly due to the “io”/ia part getting fused together in some names. Some people pronounce [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] so it becomes A-meel-ya and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] becomes [name_f]Ell[/name_f]-yot.

Interesting that you prefer [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] with my favourites. If you find a reason why, I’d love to know.
I’d love to have a little [name_m]German[/name_m] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. Well, hopefully in a few (or more) years

It’s a fantastic name, isn’t it? It’s always been in my top 2 and while the other name changed a lot (it’s been [name_u]Theo[/name_u] for a while now), [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] always stayed.
I love the image of the little boy and the imaginary dragon.
I also love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] but I don’t think I’ll use it as a first since I know (of) so many. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] I love but I always felt like I couldn’t use it with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] due to the similar beginnings?!

I never noticed that. I have only seen [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] with two Ts, so that seems normal to me. [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] seems to be missing a T. [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] just looks right to me, maybe because the only [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] I have know spelled it this way. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] would be my second choice. I do not care for [name_u]Eliott[/name_u] or [name_u]Eliot[/name_u]. I could so easily have my top three boys’ names as [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]. I think my poor son might feel out-of-place.

I can answer this…my son’s name is [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. He’s currently 2 year old. And I totally agree with the spelling and that having only one t makes it unbalanced. To answer your questions, I think of [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] as intelligent, articulate, spunky, and well-behaved. But he definitely has an opinion about the way he wants things.

It’s 3 syllables to us. His big sister’s name is [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] & I just love the way they sound together. [name_f]My[/name_f] faves from your short list are [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. None of the boy names are really my style, but I guess I would pick [name_u]Theo[/name_u] for a brother. I find that the others that have double T’s in them sound too rhyme-y with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] ([name_f]Juliette[/name_f], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_m]Beckett[/name_m]).

Good luck!

Yay for a little [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]!
I definitely wouldn’t pair [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] with [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] or [name_f]Juliette[/name_f], that would be a bit too much for me.
If I had to name three kids right now (which is not going to happen in the next few years), their names would actually be [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. Mostly because they’re my favourites individually but I also adore them together

I’ve only ever seen [name_m]Bennet[/name_m], the others definitely always had two "t"s for me, too. (I prefer [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] though.)
I think with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] it’s really about what looks right to you. The only [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] I’ve met was an [name_u]Eliott[/name_u] ([name_m]French[/name_m] spelling) but the name itself only appeared as [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] on my list, maybe it’s the first one I read?
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] would be my second favourite spelling but there’s still something off with it, especially when I write it down on paper. I believe many others feel the same about [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]

I love the name [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. The two boys I knew growing up with this name were tall, dark and handsome. They were also charming and athletic. I also love the names [name_m]Julian[/name_m] and [name_m]Graeme[/name_m] for boys and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Adriana[/name_f] for girls. From your signature I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
