Your thoughts on Maeva?

Hello everyone, what’s your opinion on the girl name [name_f]Maeva[/name_f]?
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it instinctively?
I want it pronounced the [name_u]French[/name_u] way Ma - Eh - va (we’re both [name_u]French[/name_u], but we want it to sound nice to [name_f]English[/name_f] native speakers too) but I’m thinking people will pronounce it Ma - ee - va due to the spelling.

The style of names I like: [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] for example. Thanks for your help. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] is due next week.

I think it’s super pretty and sweet! I’d pronounce it MAY-va because of its similarity to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], but I adore the [name_u]French[/name_u] pronunciation as well.

I would pronounce [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] so that it rhymes with [name_f]Ava[/name_f], but I like the [name_u]French[/name_u] pronunciation very much! I think it’s delightful!

Thank you for pronouncing it correctly :sob: I feel like everyone ends up saying mave-uh. I love [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] and I think the pronunciation issue would be a quick fix!

I said it [name_f]May[/name_f]-vuh but I love the [name_u]French[/name_u] pronunciation so much more! Like others have said, the pronunciation is easy so once you tell someone how to say it, they won’t have any issues with it.

I think it’s really sweet and pretty! A lovely alternative to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I would pronounce [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] ‘[name_f]May[/name_f]-Vah’. Ma-Eh-Va is also gorgeous.

I love [name_f]Maeva[/name_f]! Instinctively I would also say may-vuh, and given the rising popularity of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] I think that would be most people’s go-to. [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers might find the [name_u]French[/name_u] pronunciation a little difficult, but I’m sure people will get it after a few tries.

I would also pronounce it may-vuh instinctively or maybe my-eh-vuh. I think pronouncing it the [name_u]French[/name_u] way won’t be too much of a problem, just a quick correction every now and then. I really like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] as well!

Such a pretty name! I think it [name_f]English[/name_f] and [name_u]French[/name_u] speakers would both be able to say it.

I would pronounce it [name_f]May[/name_f]-vah. I’ve never heard it pronounced any other way, but I quite like Ma-Eh-va.

I think its really cute! Instinctively, I would pronounce it [name_f]Mave[/name_f]-uh but like your pronunciation better. It sounds very European and pretty!

Thank you all for your feedback, I’m glad it’s more [name_f]May[/name_f]-vah than Ma-ee-vah.
We would pronounce it Ma-eh-vah and indeed easy to say in [name_f]English[/name_f] but maybe annoying for her to have to clarify when meeting someone new.
I’m still undecided. Our tie is with [name_f]Stella[/name_f].
