For a while now, I’ve been thinking I’m feeling set on [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] for a boy, but I’m not sure if I’m really in love with it. I’ve also been slightly dubious ever since a friend reminded me that [name]Jasper[/name] is a “Twilight” name as my last name sounds like Swan ([name]Bella[/name]), but really that isn’t much of a big deal for me because I feel like that trend is over and done with. I’d be open to suggestions if anyone has any? I found a few names that I liked - [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Hugo[/name], [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Beau[/name] - and then I hit a rock so to speak, so I settled on [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Jasper[/name], but I slightly feel like there could be other names out there that I’d love, but I’m missing.
So yes, thoughts and suggestions if you please [name]Jilly[/name] x
I think it’s gorgeous. I love both of them, and I also like [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] from your list very much. [name]How[/name] do you feel about [name]Hugh[/name]? [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Hugh[/name], [name]Jasper[/name] hugh both sound nice.
I probably like the sound of [name]Hugh[/name] more than [name]Hugo[/name], but whenever I look at it I just see “ugh” - an expression of disgust! [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Edgar[/name], [name]Ivo[/name] and [name]Rupert[/name] are all great, particularly like [name]Edgar[/name] and [name]Ivo[/name]. I wonder if the bear association would be too much for [name]Rupert[/name]?
[name]Rowan[/name] is all girl for me… Perhaps spelling it differently would make it sound less girly like maybe [name]Rohan[/name] or [name]Roan[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] is a very handsome name! I absolutely love it. [name]Rowan[/name] is a boy name that people have started using for girls. Another name you may like is [name]Ronan[/name], which is Irish as well. [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] would sound lovely too. Good luck!
I honestly think more people will associate [name]Rupert[/name] with mr Grint or mr [name]Everett[/name] than that bear! There are a few [name]Rupert[/name]'s popping up here and there, at least around where I live.
As for [name]Jasper[/name] being Twilight tied, I don’t know anything about that thing but I believe it will wash away in a few years. Besides, most people who like Twilight fall inbetween here; they won’t be the mums at school (maybe some, but average age for first time mother’s in [name]London[/name] is early 30’s I believe, so hopefully not) nor his peers.
I like [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Jasper[/name], it’s a really nice name. I also like [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Felix[/name], [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] [name]Jasper[/name].
I like it a lot, though [name]Jasper[/name] being a personal favorite of mine, I’d like it even more as [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Rowan[/name]. But both are great names. [name]Hugo[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] from your list are also very awesome. [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Hugo[/name] would be my favorite combo of all.
And as far as the Twilight thing. I don’t think it matters much. Twilight is not a movie that’ll be in societies consciousness for much longer, and I don’t think [name]Jasper[/name] was even much of a main character anyways (I don’t actually know, as I’ve never seen the movies, and until quite recently thought it was a tv show (I was corrected by some of my students that Twilight was the movie series and Vampire Diaries was the tv series (funny, that my Chinese students in [name]China[/name] had to inform me about this very American topic (me being American and all))). And [name]Jasper[/name] is a classic, always-been-around but never-been-overly-common kinda name, so I think it definitely transcends any kind of flimsy only-Twilight association.
Yeah I’m definitely not worried about [name]Rowan[/name] being seen as girly, I’ve never heard it on a girl before!
Really the [name]Jasper[/name] thing just irked me more than really bothered me. I think I’m definitely on the younger side for a mother in [name]London[/name] so perhaps that’s why people I know are more in touch with that. I have seen a couple of the films and I’m pretty sure by the time my little one is at school age no one is going to remember that drivel! It wouldn’t put me off using the name, but aside from that I’m just not sure how in love with it I am.
Thank you for the suggestions everyone, though, I’m going to mull over them for a bit and see how I feel.
I don’t think of [name]Jasper[/name] as too Twilight, or [name]Rowan[/name] as too feminine, they’re both names I absolutely adore.
However, I think the combo is a bit too “soft” sounding. While the names are definitely male names, neither strikes me as particularly masculine sounding, and I’d choose something a bit stronger and more traditional to pair with [name]Rowan[/name] (or [name]Jasper[/name]) such as [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Cassius[/name], [name]Felix[/name], etc.
