Yumeko - I need some advice, people with knowlegde about Japan (and anyone else)

Is Yumeko a somewhat normal/regular name in Japan? Maybe someone can let me know.

I love the name Yumeko. I would just like to know whether it’s considered a normal name in Japan or more of an anime/manga/fantasy name, that’s not used among the general population.

What about similar names such as [name_f]Yume[/name_f], Yumea, Yumeka, Yumeri etc.?

There’s a Yumeko (born 1915), an actress, but she was born Yachiyo. Still, she chose her stage name in the 1930s so it must have been around/known of then, but I can’t tell whether it would have been considered a normal name or far out stage name.

Not Japanese, so this is just based on a bit of research - but I can’t find much about Yumeko being used, except in fiction. Yumiko (different meaning but similar sounds?) does seem to be used though?

I would imagine Yumiko is more popular.

[name_f]Yume[/name_f] is “dream” and “ko” is child so it would have something akin to that meaning I would imagine although it would depend on the kanji used (I am not Japanese so I default to any native speaker) but I did study the language for 3 years.

Ahh, I think that Yumiko is really popular. [name_m]Or[/name_m] at least it used to be. I also know a few who are just [name_f]Yumi[/name_f].

Yumeko is similar, but might have a totally different image in Japan. I wish, we knew.
