My lovely friend Nazi@ and her husband Tasne3f had their baby boy on 14.11.25 and are deciding between these two names for her son who has big sister Radiy@h surname is M0hammed feeling very stuck. She knows I love the berry community so said I would post this on their behalf and see what you guys think. I’m completely undecided as to which name I prefer but think both are handsome.
On the one hand, I like that [name_m]Yunus[/name_m] has a different ending than big sister’s name. However, I just adore [name_m]Zakariyah[/name_m], so that gets my vote!
In an English-speaking context [name_m]Yunus[/name_m] reminds me a bit too much of the word @nus[name_f][/name_f] personally. And I find [name_m]Zakariyah[/name_m] really handsome!
ooh, what a tough one! I do like the gentle distinction of [name_m]Yunus[/name_m], but there’s something about [name_m]Zakariyah[/name_m] that is also so strong and lovely! I went with the latter in the end, but they can’t go wrong
@EagleEyes[name_f][/name_f] thank you for responding I also like the distinction and I like that [name_m]Yunus[/name_m] is Islamic for [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] with the meaning ‘dove’ etc so far he’s been a peaceful boy (just loving the newborn snuggles I’ve had so far they feel very peaceful) but there is something appealing about [name_m]Zakariyah[/name_m] and how both siblings have the ‘ah’ ending is sweet.

@tallemaja[name_f][/name_f] I never made this connections luckily we are in a diverse area with lots of culturally different names including Islamic names so [name_m]Yunus[/name_m] wouldn’t be so off the wall to make that association fingers crossed anyways! [name_m]Zakariyah[/name_m] is handsome.
[name_f][/name_f]
@Greyblue[name_f][/name_f] I do agree both are lovely but I can see why [name_m]Zakariyah[/name_m] is winning!
I know a [name_m]Younis[/name_m] and he’s amazing! Not sure if it’s the exact pronunciation of [name_m]Yunus[/name_m] but close enough for a positive association in my mind. I also find it more straightforward and distinct from the sounds of his sister’s name.
In the same boat as @EagleEyes[name_f][/name_f], normally I’d opt for something that varied the sibset but I just think [name_m]Zakariyah[/name_m] is the coolest! I suppose it slightly depends on whether they are hoping to have more sibs… it helps that the emphasis falls in different places (RAdiyah vs zakaRIyah) so they aren’t rhymey despite the same ending.
@rosajune[name_f][/name_f] aaah it’s nice to see someone picking [name_m]Yunus[/name_m] as I do really like name!
[name_f][/name_f]
@persephonescrown[name_f][/name_f] completely agree it does help that the emphasis falls in different places therefore they are not rhyming and [name_m]Zakariyah[/name_m] is super handsome.
