What are your thoughts on [name_m]Yves[/name_m] ([name_f]Eve[/name_f]) for a girl? It’s most popular for [name_m]Yves[/name_m] [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_m]Laurent[/name_m], of course, but I was considering it as a different spelling for the name [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. 
Would it be weird to have a boy name (it’s strictly a boy name here on Nameberry) for a girl? I just can’t decide.
Yes. It’s a [name_m]French[/name_m] boys’ name (not unisex in any language) and there is a perfectly fine and wonderful looking English girls’ spelling, and while many people do know [name_m]Yves[/name_m] [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_m]Laurent[/name_m], you can be sure that people will be mispronouncing it “Eyevs” (as Y seems to be able to replace any vowel in English) or Eevs, especially as YvesS… leads to the name being pronunce Eefsain, they naturally flow into each other, even the people who do know about the brand might still say Eevs.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] use [name_f]Eve[/name_f].
I also think it’s unusable as a girls’ name. What do you think of [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f] or [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f]?
[name_m]Yves[/name_m] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] aren’t related at all, [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] is actually a female form of [name_m]Yves[/name_m]. I don’t really think it’s a good idea to use [name_m]Yves[/name_m] as a girl’s name. If you want [name_f]Eve[/name_f], just use [name_f]Eve[/name_f].
Definitely just use [name_f]Eve[/name_f].

If everyone knew that [name_m]Yves[/name_m] is pronounced like [name_f]Eve[/name_f], I’d say that I’m not keen personally, but it might work. The problem is that lots of people will mangle it as “EYE-vuz”, “WHY-vz” or something else entirely, so I think it’s more trouble than it’s worth to change the spelling. The beauty of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] for me lies in its simplicity, and spelling it [name_m]Yves[/name_m] would just kind of ruin that.
I agree with [name_f]Katinka[/name_f]. [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is beautiful as it is, but I too, have also always admired how [name_m]Yves[/name_m] looks and sounds. To use it for a girl would inevitably invite a plethora of mispronunciations and I don’t see [name_m]Yves[/name_m] as an alternate spelling for [name_f]Eve[/name_f], they are completely different names.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] use [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and save yourself a lot of hastle.
I would go with [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Yvette[/name_f].
