This is a follow-up to my previous question on Zachary vs. Alexander. (I’ll see if I can link the poll in the comments, I would still very much appreciate votes).
But, looking just at Zachary/Zach:
What are your opinions on the name Zachary? Is it timeless or dated to the 1990s? Other general thoughts/opinions welcome!
In my opinion, the inevitable nickname Zach makes it sound even more 1990s.
But aside from that, I do like the nickname Zach, and would not enforce “He’s only Zachary”. (In case this changes your opinion on timeless vs dated)
Thanks so much!

Classic that peaked in 1990s
I would assume a [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] to be born in 1990s but wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t

I think it’s very much a classic, usable boy’s name. I wouldn’t look twice at a young Zachary.

Hmm, I’m conflicted. Zachary is timeless. But I’d expect a Zach to be in his late twenties, since it was so popular back then. I don’t think a baby called Zach/Zachary would be that weird, but I would think of it as kind of dated.
It doesn’t feel too dated to me
maybe because I’ve met a couple of little ones over the years

Oh I lovvvee Zachary
I love the way it looks & the way it sounds. Even though I went to school with so many, it still doesn’t feel warn out for me! Zach is okay, it definitely feels a bit more dated than the name in full

I think it’s been dated in the past but is making it’s way toward timelessness, if that makes sense.
Like I think it could easily fit in with the names we consider timeless and I think due to the widespread use, it could easily go in that direction.
I really enjoy it, personally!

I don’t think it’s too dated. I think it may have been more popular in the 90s/00s but not to the point where it feels set in that time
It’s very dated to me, but I do know a little boy named Zachary.

It’s a bit dated to me because there were so many in my grade and those above (early 00s, late 90s). However, I don’t think this makes it unusable at all.
I will comment again ( as I have a Zachary)
Lol, so I am probably biased.
I don’t see it as dated at all, but I do agree that the name peaked in the 90’s. I feel like it’s in the same vein as classic boy names such as [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], [name_m]Johnathan[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], which to me are all timeless and handsome boy names. I feel like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is contemporary enough to stand apart from all the [name_m]Daniels[/name_m], [name_m]Mathews[/name_m] and Joshua’s ( names that were also popular in the 90s)
I think [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is eye catching on paper and verbally. The hard Z sound makes the name unique. ( There are not really any other Z boys names that sound as equally as warm or classic to me) so I
I feel like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] has the strength to stand alone ( at least from all the Z names). Also, the name means ‘God remembers’ and I think this is poignant, given the fact that it’s a name you just ‘remember’ it is hard not to forget a Z name

[name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], is an intelligent, athletic, blonde, green eyed bundle of love. I have zero regrets with his name. His name will age well. It suits both a child, teen and a man.
All the girls in his school call him Zachy
P.s let me know if you need me to sell the name Alexander.

It seems totally timeless to me!
As someone born in the 90s,I find a little weird that the common names of my generation might be considered “dated”. I get it, but I tend to feel that way about names from the 60s/70s, not names from the 90s/00s!
That said I like Zachary/Zach – I consider it a classic! [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] could be an alternative.

I do associate it with the 1990s and 2000s, but I don’t consider it too dated or stale for a boy today. Like @anon25197097 said, it’s a cool and versatile name! It’s not completely timeless in my view, but it is enduring and stands the test of time.

[name_m]Zachary[/name_m] was our boy name choice when I was pregnant with our daughter, who is named Ada. But now that we’re expecting #2, we’ve moved away from it in favor of more “vintage” names that match the style of Ada.
But I dont think [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is unusable or too dated. [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is super popular (in the US at least) and I think [name_m]Zach[/name_m] would fit right in. I do think [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is more timeless though.
It’s a classic, but I would expect [name_m]Zach[/name_m] to be 20-30 years old.
There’s a [name_m]Zac[/name_m] on a YouTube channel for kids called Family Fun Pack, so there’s an example of a younger Zac(h) to show the nickname isn’t super dated.
I grew up with a ton of Zach/Zacks (born late 80s). But its still a classic name just one thats a dad name too right now.
I know a few Zachary/Zachs who would have been born between 2000 and 2010! It may have been more popular in the 1990s but I think it’s a nice classic name and very handsome, and would be totally wearable now.
Zachary & Zach just sound timelessy handsome to me! Perhaps that has a lot to do with Freddie Prinze Jr. in “She’s All That”
but even if it reminds some of us of the 90’s, I still find the name very usable.
