How are we feeling about Zachary? Do you think this could make a comeback?
Edit: I feel like I should add that the lookup is up 1000% on the website, but I’m not sure how accurate those are!
Thanks!!

[name_m]Ah[/name_m] that makes since! [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] and [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] are more popular than [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] was in my area, so I missed all the Zac’s!!
I feel like [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] still works well, especially if it’s used in full (Zach feels a lot more dated to the 90s to me). It’s such a fun name to say!
There’s a young [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] in my extended family and I was quite charmed to hear his name when he was born.
I had a dog named [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] growing up and I’ve always thought it was a sweet name! Not a big fan of [name_m]Zach[/name_m] though.
I’ve always like the sound of [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]. Not a big fan of the nicknames (ex [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is great but [name_m]Alex[/name_m] is meh). I think it’s still too currently outdated if I’m honest, but a good name nonetheless
It still feels fairly well used where I am but falling currently. Not sure I can quite see it rising to the Top 20s yet, but it could move up the charts again
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is a solid choice - also possibility of nicknames [name_m]Ary[/name_m] / [name_m]Ari[/name_m] and [name_f]Zee[/name_f]
[name_f]Zee[/name_f] for [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is sooooooo cute!!!
I feel like its one of those names thats past its prime but isnt quite dated yet either. Like I wouldnt be surprised to meet a baby or toddler Zachary or a 20/30 year old Zachary.
Its not my favorite
I worked with children for about 10 years, and tbh every Zachary I worked with was a pill, probably leaves me a little biased
but overall I dont think its a bad name.
It’s not my style personally but I do think it’s a great, solid name!
Personally I dislike [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] yet adore [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] with the NN’s [name_m]Ry[/name_m] or [name_m]Zach[/name_m].
In the UK [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is still fairly high in the charts (in the top 100), so pretty popular & I half expect it to continue rising.
I don’t think of [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] as dated! But it does feel a bit “plain”, one of those names that have been steadily popular for a while so they don’t really feel that exciting anymore, at least to me. I wouldn’t be surprised to meet a baby [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]! I just don’t see it rising back up the charts anytime soon.
I don’t think [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is dated either, it’s very sweet and soft to me.
I don’t really know many Zachary’s personally, I know of them but the only one I do know is someone in my old school
Aww I would love to meet a baby Zachary!! I feel it’s sort of a modern classic - bit dated to the 90’s but is wearable, handsome and interesting on a baby of today!
I think [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is lovely!
Honestly I didn’t know [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] ‘went away’ he’s still really popular in the UK ranking at #50 in the popularity charts. I know two young Zachary’s one aged 10 and the other aged 3. I hear [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] being called out all the time when I’m at soft play or in the park in my opinion the name is very current. I think [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is a lovely outdoorsy name that feels boyish and laid back.
I would say that in the current zeitgeist [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] feels a tad dated to the 80s/90s - it feels kin to names like [name_m]Brandon[/name_m], [name_m]Tyler[/name_m], et al. that really took off around that time.
However, I would personally classify [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] as more of a modern classic… maybe more like [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] or [name_m]Ryan[/name_m]? Although it’s true that [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] doesn’t pop up in the top 1000 in the US until the 40s (and doesn’t reach the top 100 until the 70s), [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] has a solid history of usage behind it. Not only did we have a [name_m]President[/name_m] in the mid-1800s named [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], it is derived from a Biblical name and there was even a Pope named [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] in the Middle Ages. So although it’s not the most historically prolific name, it’s not just a trendy name that was invented during the time period in which it ultimately became most popular.
Personally, I like the zippy Z sound and think it has a nice sound to the ear. It feels quite distinct. For example, [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] has counterparts in [name_m]Brayden[/name_m], [name_m]Brendan[/name_m], etc. but I can’t think of any popular names that closely mirror [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]. It is a bit past its prime but I honestly think that makes it a distinctive choice for a modern baby. It doesn’t sound outdated, but a modern [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] likely won’t have many peers named [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] either, putting it on a sweet spot between familiar yet seldom encountered.
