Zane Alexander Ellis

I recently came across the name [name_m]Zane[/name_m] and thought [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] sounded like a nice strong name for my baby boy due [name_u]December[/name_u] 22, 2016. [name_m]Zane[/name_m] has been around a long time and means “God’s gracious gift” as well as “handsome/beautiful”. I have had trouble finding boy names that I like, due to them being too common or too unique. What do you think?

[name_m]Zane[/name_m] is occasionally a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] so it seems a bit like a double dose. I think [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], nn [name_m]Zane[/name_m] would be a nice option.

I don’t know why [name_m]Zane[/name_m] is ever used for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. They have 2 different meanings and are not derived from one another. I would think that [name_u]Alex[/name_u] or [name_m]Zander[/name_m] would be used for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] which is why I don’t like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] for a first name. I don’t care for those nicknames.
I like [name_m]Zane[/name_m] as a first name and I thought [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] had a nice ring to it. However, I would be open to exploring other middle names. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any suggestions?

Would [name_m]Zane[/name_m] be popular due to [name_m]Zayn[/name_m] [name_m]Malik[/name_m]?
I think it sounds pretty cool.
I would assume [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is the surname as I have personally had a few friends with the surname [name_u]Ellis[/name_u].

I think [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u], the author. That’s not a bad connection, though. I like [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. It’s very strong. If you are looking for suggestions, I like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] with [name_m]Zane[/name_m] so [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] has a slightly better flow to me. That’s assuming that [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is not the surname, of course.

Thank you  Ellis is the surname. I didn’t know who Zayn Malik was until I did a lot of research on the name, but I suppose it could be a little more popular to some due to him. The spelling of his name is a variation of the original “Zane”. I have never met a Zane in my life. (Pearl) Zane Grey, the author of westerns, and his father Ebenezer Zane seem to be the earliest connection I can find, but I just really love the name.

[name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is fantastic! Congrats on finding a name you love that feels handsome and has a nice meaning.

I think it’s a spectacular choice! [name_m]Zane[/name_m] is one of those perfect names that is familiar, not overly popular, masculine, and with a great meaning.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]! Go for it!

I’m not even a fan of the band or know much about them but whenever I see [name_m]Zane[/name_m] I think of his band! Wish I didn’t!

I think it’s very handsome! [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is also a cool not too popular not too unique name…?

Now that I see that [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is the surname… I retract my comment about [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], lol.

I think it’s a great name and flows well with your surname.

I really like it! [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is cool!

[name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is a handsome combo! I quite like that the name gives off both a modern and classic feel. I’ve never heard of [name_m]Zane[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] nor are the two names related in any fashion so I wouldn’t worry about that

I love it! I think it works really well, and it sounds great.

Warmest congratulations @katiebenke,

[name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is fantastic.

Wow! Thank you so much everyone! All of your positive responses made me so happy.
I can’t wait to meet my little boy!

Lol, this is crazy, but I know several (as in a few handfuls) of [name_m]Zane[/name_m]'s and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]'s, and two of them are [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]'s who go by [name_m]Zane[/name_m]! Small world! I strongly prefer [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] to [name_m]Zane[/name_m], put that is mainly because of the link to “zany” which means peculiar, odd, eccentric, unconventional, strange, weird, erratic…

However, it is your child, not mine, and the whole combination of [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] sounds pretty decent! Congrats on the baby.
