It’s a boy! And unless we find an upset favorite (not looking too hard, as we’ve spent a lot of time on our boy list the past couple pregnancies), he’ll be either [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u] or Brannoc [name_u]John[/name_u].
What vibes do you get from sibling set [name_m]Ransom[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], Deliverance, and [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m]?
How about [name_m]Ransom[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], Deliverance, and Brannoc?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a preference, and why?
This is so tough, because I love [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] for it’s lively feel and distinctive sound - and I would love to see someone use it! However, Brannoc is rugged, cool and unexpected and I like it a lot!
[name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] feels cohesive in that it’s a (bolder) Biblical name, longer and intriguing.
Brannoc adds something interesting, and has that slightly rugged feel of your boys and I’m leaning towards this!
It’s sturdy, unexpected and will be an awesome name for either a lil babe or an adult man.
[name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] will probably get shortened to [name_m]Zeb[/name_m] or Zebee or DeeDee and I think Brannoc (Bran or Nocci even) wears waaaay better.
Brannoc is the way to go! It sounds confident and assured, the name for a leader or someone of influence. It has a mystery vibe to it almost? [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] while cute just doesn’t flow as well, I think it would be better as a childhood nickname but overall Brannoc sounds better suited.
I love him he’s bright, majestic, whimsical and rich with biblical history. He’s very cohesive with his potential sibling names they are such a bold colourful sibling set. Beyond cool.
I prefer Brannoc [name_u]John[/name_u], though it’s super close.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys use nicknames much? If yes, then I’d change my answer to [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] nn [name_m]Zeb[/name_m]. If no, then I think that Brannoc works better.
Definitely Brannoc for me! Maybe it’s because I’m just not used to the name, but [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] sounds a bit silly/childish to me and stands out from the more buttoned-up vibe of your other children’s names. Brannoc is cool !!
@cms1512@Sadie307 we aren’t huge on nicknames at home, but [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] gets Toby/Toby-man/Tober etc. a lot with my family, and Deliverance gets Livvy/Liv/+ various pet names. I’m sure [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] would be [name_m]Zeb[/name_m], Zebby etc. (hopefully not DeeDee, hadn’t really thought of that though it is cute for a little baby.)
One of the pros of Brannoc is that I could call him [name_u]Bran[/name_u] I’ve loved [name_u]Bran[/name_u] forever but don’t want to use it as a full name because of bran muffins etc.
I prefer the sound of [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] over the sound of Brannoc, so I’d choose [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m].
Brannoc feels straight from a storybook to me, and I like what that adds to your sibset. [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and Brannoc in particular feel like perfectly paired brothers—strong and boisterous but with a dash of magic. I also see a sort of 90s surfer vibe, maybe because of shared sounds with [name_m]Brock[/name_m], [name_m]Brandon[/name_m], [name_u]Brennan[/name_u] etc?
[name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] with the “ee” ending and rounded letters and bouncy cadence feels absolutely adorable, but my own personal preference for names that seem serious makes me hesitate. In a world where the most familiar spelling was “Zebedi,” this name would be high up on my list. I’m also guessing that the association with the biblical [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] (which I know of but am not very familiar with) makes this name feel more grounded than what I’m picturing.
I think [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] makes your sibset feel more traditional, and Brannoc more eclectic.
(Also, how cute would “Bee” and “Bran” be as nicknames?!)
I don’t think either name changes the vibes of the sibling set by much since the older sibling names already offer contrast and balance to one another. I would not expect either name in the sibling set, but I would say Brannoc is the greater surprise.
[name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] itself feels like a name of contradictions. It’s origins are Biblical and traditional, yet it feels playful and stylish while remaining undiscovered. It’s got a clunky cool factor about it and I think the sibling names get some added flair alongside it. If you ever had another daughter, [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] would be a great fit.
Brannoc feels a lot more weighty by comparison. It brings to mind myths and legends and skews the sibling set a touch medieval. The siblings feel a little more stern with Brannoc adding an offbeat note at the end. It also simply feels mature.
I prefer the sound and imagery of [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m]. It’s a fun, memorable name. It feels friendly. I like Brannoc more in theory than I do in practice. I don’t love the nasal sound and the glottal stop. [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] also introduces new sounds to the sibling set, whereas Brannoc has a similar sound profile to [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] repeating the ‘ran’ and ‘o’ letters.
[name_m]Handsome[/name_m] names all round. I wish you all the best in your decision.
zebedee feels a bit more cohesive with your set, and gives them a biblical, bold, and historical feel. i love nn zeb. by himself, he’s bright and cheerful.
on the other hand, brannoc gives your set an outdoorsy, adventurous, and slightly more eclectic vibe. bran is so sweet and gives a bit of a boyish edge to the stately full name. he’s sturdier than zebedee but has the same liveliness.
i think i prefer brannoc for you! he balances the set very well and gives you a bit more flexibility for any future kids. he goes especially great if y’all end up having a little ruby, whereas with zebedee she feels a bit out of place since she’s not biblical. in general, he pairs so well with the siblings individually and together. with that being said, i don’t think there’s a wrong choice here – they’re both stunning choices!!
I think [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] sounds the most cohesive and enjoyable when you say your names as a list. It does beak up the sounds really nicely. It also has the more obviously religious and evangelical/pioneering imagery as per [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] & Deliverance. With the nn [name_m]Zeb[/name_m], there are also surfer/boho/yoga teacher vibes for me. It’s a very confident, outgoing, friendly and perpetually youthful name!
Brannoc has a more serious, introverted quality and is as others have said, less expected (though still very much works with the others). I prefer Brannoc because I like the calm but clipped sounds, its tailored quality - and the Welsh/Celtic, rugged imagery (and of some sort of bookish Saint/traveller in a remote, windswept village). It would be my choice but I’d get why you might want to lighten things up with [name_m]Zeb[/name_m]!
