Zechariah… Usable or no?

I came across the name [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m]. Obviously it’s a variation or version of [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m]. What’s everyone’s opinions on the name. Is [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] usable or no? I’m of course not having a baby but I’m always intrigued by what others think about certain names. I’m always looking for cool new names and I’ve never heard of [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] until I found it in a game I’ve been playing. I’m kind of torn between if I like it or not. I want to use it for something but I’m not sure because I don’t know how much I like it and if it’s wearable.

Would you use [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] on a child or even a character? Why or why not?

I’m not a big fan personally but I think it’s totally usable, it might get misspelled sometimes but it’s not a huge deal

I think it’s totally usable! I personally prefer [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] but I think [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] has a cool, fresh sound and friendly vibe.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be usable! Though it’d be annoying to have to explain all the time that it’s not [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m], and tbh I find [name_m]Zach[/name_m] to be a lot nicer-sounding than Zech. It could definitely work on a character though, who wouldn’t have to worry about misspellings and nicknames!

Definitely usable, real world or otherwise.

[name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] is nice! I would actually use it above [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] as [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] is the form used in the Bible (both for the prophet in the Old Testament and the uncle of [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] in the [name_u]New[/name_u] Testament, according to my Bible!). There’s a cornerback on my favorite football team whose first name is [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] nn Zech (prn zeck) which I think is pretty cool too. I do prefer Zephan(iah) to [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m], but [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] is definitely cool!

ETA: I don’t like it enough to use it, but if I did, I wouldn’t hesitate? [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] reminds me of [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] for a girl and Zephaniah/Zephan for a boy, both of which I like better than [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m], but it is an interesting name and way more interesting than [name_m]Zachary[/name_m].

Totally usable! I’ve known boys called [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m], [name_u]Hezekiah[/name_u], [name_u]Elijah[/name_u], [name_u]Nehemiah[/name_u], [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m], [name_m]Josiah[/name_m], [name_u]Messiah[/name_u], etc. and they all wore them with ease.

I think people tend to be unnecessarily cautious when it comes to baby names. The vast majority of “crazy” or more out-there names end up feeling totally normal when they become attached to actual people. One might be taken aback when they first meet someone with an unusual name, but quickly they’re just [name_m]Zachariah[/name_m] from art class or little [name_u]Nehemiah[/name_u] who likes Pokémon. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I know a little [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] but his name is clearly pronounced with an A sound in the first syllable (like Zachariah). I actually slightly prefer the E pronunciation, but either way, it’s a very usable name.

I don’t think I would use [name_m]Zechariah[/name_m] myself but in genaral it seems totally useable to me!

it’s… fine?? but it sounds to me like a new zealander trying to say zachariah, and i would definitely get confused if i encountered it irl. i also think trying to explain that actually it’s zech not zach seems like a little too much hassle for a nickname that sounds honestly worse. you definitely could use it but i’m kind of asking why would you. (to be clear the complicating factor here is not that it’s ‘too out there’, it’s that i think it’s too close to a much more established name)
