Zia, Ramona or Xana to go with her big sis, iyra?

Due in a month with second girl. [name_u]Love[/name_u] unique names with incredible meanings, that as a bonus reflect our heritages (European/Welsh and Muslim). Like short, gender neutral, magical, powerful names.

Our firstborn’s first 3 names are: iyra frances salam…

I uncpaitalise iyra so people don’t confuse I with L, as they often do. Would like to avoid confusion this time and any non-phonetic/obvious pronunciations ([name_m]Even[/name_m] though that is what we tried to do first time !)

Middle names have to be our grandmas: [name_f]Alma[/name_f] and [name_f]Jamila[/name_f]

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the below firstnames? Can you think of any similar vibes names? I’ve spent months on the most niche goddess name forums etc and nothing stands out like iyra did!

[name_u]Zia[/name_u]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
Xana

Thanks!!
Cle

I’m voting for [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].

For other suggestions maybe [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] , [name_f]Athena[/name_f] or [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Zia[/name_u] and Xana are tooooo different or just prefer [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]? [name_u]Love[/name_u] that but the shortened versions not so much… although I love [name_u]Mo[/name_u] (wanted [name_m]Moses[/name_m] but can’t do that to a girl!!)

[name_u]Artemis[/name_u], [name_f]Athena[/name_f] and [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] are awesome… best short version would be [name_m]Arty[/name_m] prob!

I like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] the most, although that’s obvious because of my signature~ I like [name_u]Zia[/name_u] too as I’ve been slowly hearing it more, but as a heads up it also means Aunt in Italian. If you don’t think you’ll run into any Italians, though, then it’s perfectly acceptable. Xana I’d probably stay away from, though. It sort of reminds me of Xanax and that’s not the exactly the best connotation.

[name_f]Zahra[/name_f]
[name_f]Nia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Olwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Nolwenn[/name_f]
[name_f]Caia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zayna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ziva[/name_f]
[name_f]Zahara[/name_f]

so true! i had thought of xanax without realising. it isn’t as big in the Uk but i knew it reminded me of something…

i don’t mind aunt as a name! only 1 Italian friend and he thinks I should call her Pizza…

Thank you, amazing suggestions!!

I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is a nice name. [name_u]Zia[/name_u] is okay but I don’t think is substantial enough on it’s on (maybe [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] nn [name_u]Zia[/name_u]?) And I agree with pp that Xana has too much of a connection to Xanax as well.

[name_u]Zia[/name_u] is aunt in Italian.
Xana looks like [name_m]Xeno[/name_m] as in xenophobia
Not a fan of [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]

BTW - how do you pronounce iyra? eye-ra? eye-yee-ra? ee-ra? I can’t figure it out!

I like [name_u]Zia[/name_u] the best from your list, Xana is too close to Xanax for me. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Athena[/name_f]!! Iyra & [name_f]Athena[/name_f] sound great together!

From your list I prefer [name_u]Zia[/name_u] with iyra, they’re both short but pack a punch.

Xana reminds me of xanax, too, which might be a good name for a soundcloud rapper but not a little girl.

Is [name_u]Asa[/name_u] too close to Iyra?

Wow those names are incredible thank you!! [name_u]Love[/name_u] them all xx

Iyra is pronounced [name_u]Ira[/name_u] we just added the y to avoid the Irish republican army acronym spelling!!

These names are great; but I need to warn oh about one thing.

I scanned through to see which ones popped out at me and thought [name_f]Esti[/name_f] was great because I’ve only seen other spellings of that name… but then it hit me, and I didn’t realize until the spelling was just right.

[name_f]Esti[/name_f] is a blaspheme/swear by [name_m]French[/name_m]-Canadians. It means holy water I believe but it’s used like the f word pretty much and used frequently. So please… don’t bring a daughter named [name_f]Esti[/name_f] to Eastern [name_f]Canada[/name_f].

It’s a shame because it could have been cute :frowning: all the other names are amazing though

I really like [name_u]Zia[/name_u] with Iyra, especially if it’s pronounced like [name_u]Ira[/name_u].

The only goddess name I can think of that hasn’t been mention that I think would go well with Iyra is [name_f]Neith[/name_f], who is the Egyptian goddess of war and hunting.

from your list I like [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] best with Iyra

I think both Xana and [name_u]Zia[/name_u] are too close in sound to Iyra… though [name_f]Xena[/name_f]/[name_f]Zena[/name_f] (like the fictional warrior princess) might work?

other suggestions:
Iyra and [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]
Iyra and [name_f]Zephyra[/name_f]
Iyra and [name_f]Saffira[/name_f]
Iyra and [name_f]Talulla[/name_f]
Iyra and Belphoebe (or just [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f])
Iyra and [name_f]Roxana[/name_f]
Iyra and [name_f]Xena[/name_f]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] and Iyra! I think they’re both so beautiful, sweet, and spunky together.
I also really like [name_u]Zia[/name_u], but it just makes me think of aunt, unfortunately.

I absolutely love the suggestion of [name_f]Xena[/name_f]! I think its perfect. Cool, unique, strong, and pretty - just like Iyra!
