Ziggy or Cam?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries -

This is a sneak preview of tomorrow’s Name [name_u]Sage[/name_u] post!

He says [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] or [name_u]Stacy[/name_u]. She says [name_u]Cam[/name_u] ([name_u]Cameron[/name_u]) or [name_u]Casey[/name_u]. When it comes to casual cool boy names, how different is too different for their first child? And what’s the best compromise name for their son?

Check the blog for the full post tomorrow, 1/13/21. But for now, what are your favorite casual-cool boy names … maybe somewhere between [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] and [name_u]Cam[/name_u]?

The Name [name_u]Sage[/name_u]

I feel like a retro nickname/short name that fits today’s trends would work.

Evan (my top choice for them)

Casual cool nickname? I have to say [name_m]Kip[/name_m]!

[name_u]Jude[/name_u]/Jade (as a brave choice for a boy)

Beck ([name_u]Beckett[/name_u])
[name_u]Cal[/name_u] ([name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_u]Callum[/name_u] or [name_u]Callahan[/name_u])
[name_m]Archie[/name_m] ([name_u]Archer[/name_u])
[name_u]Gus[/name_u] ([name_u]August[/name_u] or [name_m]Augustus[/name_m])
[name_u]Jules[/name_u] ([name_u]Julian[/name_u])

Casey and especially [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] are :heart_eyes::heart_eyes: I actually think these parents sound pretty in-tune when it comes to boy names.

We love these kind of casual-cool names in the UK! How about…

[name_u]Cass[/name_u] (on its own or short for [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u])
[name_u]Carey[/name_u] or [name_u]Cary[/name_u]

Trying not to repeat…

[name_u]Cass[/name_u] ([name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]?!)

[name_u]Bo[/name_u] / [name_m]Boden[/name_m]

Maybe [name_u]Cade[/name_u] or [name_m]Bram[/name_m] would be in the middle of the two styles. I guess [name_u]Dash[/name_u] leans more towards the [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] side of things…

More ideas:
[name_m]Cord[/name_m] or Chord

Something like [name_m]Otis[/name_m] or [name_u]Finn[/name_u]

Ooh, just seen @Abby’s amazing suggestions!

I agree that [name_u]Huxley[/name_u] feels like a perfect fit, and [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] “[name_u]Cal[/name_u]” feels like a perfect cool, laid back, slightly more daring substitute for [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] “[name_u]Cam[/name_u]”.

I also love the names [name_u]Nico[/name_u], [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] :blue_heart:

I think names seem "less out there " when they have a longer formal name, and use a nn to make them more unique.

Zigmond ([name_u]Ziggy[/name_u])
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] ([name_m]Ozzy[/name_m])
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m] ([name_m]Ozzy[/name_m])
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] ([name_m]Iggy[/name_m])
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] (zeke)
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m] ([name_m]Mac[/name_m])
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] ([name_m]Mac[/name_m], [name_m]Colm[/name_m])
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] ([name_f]Zippy[/name_f])
[name_m]Malakai[/name_m] ([name_u]Kai[/name_u])

Ozzy for [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] is brilliant!

I love [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u].

I actually adore [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] so I’m with the husband!

Agree with @river_dweller about finding a more wearable long form of it, if they’re still worried.

Would so also say I think [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] makes for a lovely combo if they wanted to give him the option of a less out there name as a middle he could swap to when he’s older.

Other ideas (sorry for any repeats!):

There. This.

This may have already been suggested but I think [name_u]Rex[/name_u] fits the style they’re going for!

Also love the suggestions of [name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]Callahan[/name_u], [name_u]Sonny[/name_u], [name_m]Monty[/name_m], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_u]Remy[/name_u], Bash, [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_m]Raffy[/name_m], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_m]Iggy[/name_m], [name_u]Jem[/name_u], [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], [name_u]Dash[/name_u], [name_u]Nico[/name_u], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] (or even just [name_u]Kai[/name_u]) and [name_u]Fox[/name_u].

I’m not sure if I’ve just missed these but I also think [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Otto[/name_m], [name_u]Atlas[/name_u], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_m]Chet[/name_m], [name_m]Elio[/name_m], [name_u]Lennox[/name_u], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], [name_u]Van[/name_u], [name_m]Xander[/name_m] and [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] would work.

I named a kitten [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] called [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] in 2006! For reasons beyond my control, I wasn’t allowed to keep him, so I didn’t have him for very long and actually considered the name for my son years later. But I didn’t like the idea of people thinking I had named him for Kramer, given that Seinfeld was so popular and is still in syndication all these years later. Someone else should totally go for it, though! Sometimes I’m a little sorry that I didn’t. I ended up using a “Z” name, and although I use the nickname [name_u]Kai[/name_u], his grandparents call him just “Z” a lot, and he’s obsessed with the letter “O” and wants to know why his name doesn’t have one. That said, my favorite of your suggestions for this family is [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] in place of [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]. So many other great suggestions here, too – this is definitely my naming style for boys!

I dont put [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] and [name_u]Stacy[/name_u] in the same boat though. [name_u]Ziggy[/name_u] was never a name we’ve heard being used, [name_u]Stacy[/name_u] used to be relatively heard of but is now considered on the more dated side. People wont find [name_u]Stacy[/name_u] to overshadow the child, just more on the “wow haven’t heard of a baby [name_u]Stacy[/name_u] in many years”.
