Zina

Thoughts on girls name Zina ? :pink_heart: I found the name in my family tree

I think [name_f]Zina[/name_f] is quite pretty!

[name_f][/name_f]

It’s short + easy to pronounce, and is quite similar to other more common names (Gina, [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Tina[/name_f], etc.), but is still unique. A great choice if you want something uncommon but still approachable.

[name_f]Zina[/name_f] is really interesting! [name_f][/name_f] There’s a lot of unusual 2-syllable Z names out there that feel so approachable, and I think [name_f]Zina[/name_f] is one of them! [name_f][/name_f] I would also put [name_f]Zanna[/name_f], [name_f]Zea[/name_f], [name_f]Zoya[/name_f], [name_f]Zaria[/name_f], etc. in this category too. [name_f][/name_f] I would happily meet a [name_f]Zina[/name_f]!

I work with a Luz!na, too, which I find interesting; if it feels too short I think there are probably several options for using [name_f]Zina[/name_f] as a nn as well!

Good luck!

I hate to be negative, but as I really loved this name too, I would google it. What you find might not be prevalent where you’re from but it would matter in a worldly sense I think. Sorry to be vague, but it isn’t appropriate for NB. It’s a bummer because it’s a beautiful name!

[name_m]Sharp[/name_m] and pretty [name_f][/name_f]- maybe the [name_f]Zena[/name_f] or [name_f]Xena[/name_f] spellings would detract from what @auroracallista[name_f][/name_f] is talking about?

I’ve known two Zinas (one Russian and one half Russian, so the name definitely has a Russian feel to me) and I’ve never heard of what @auroracallista[name_f][/name_f] is referencing! To me it’s a non-issue. So it may depend on what the cultural composition is like where you live, whether it’d be something the average person would think of.

I think it definitely depends on where you live. For me it would deter me just knowing that in a huge community of the world, it means something bad. But for you it may not matter. Like I said, I do really love the name, but I figured I’d mention it in case it would be something that would bother you or matter in your circles.

I had a nurse this week named [name_f]Zina[/name_f] (pronounced to rhyme with [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] not Gina). She said her parents got it from her grandmother’s Lebanese names. It really fit her, but I don’t know that it would be a good fit for everyone.
