Personally, I think a girl named [name]Zinnia[/name] would have an easier time than [name]Amaryllis[/name]. I would use [name]Amaryllis[/name] as a quirky middle name for another girl. [name]Zinnia[/name] is a certainlty more exotic than [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] but I think it’s usable. One of my favourite unusual flower names is Jonquil.
I love [name]Zinnia[/name]! It’s definitely my favourite uncommon flower name ([name]Iris[/name] is my #1 girl name but that isn’t exactly uncommon), and in my top 10 in general. I think it’s great!
I don’t care for [name]Amaryllis[/name] at all, though.
I’m not a huge fan of [name]Zinnia[/name] - I think I’d prefer it as a middle name.
I think it’s the Z that makes [name]Zinnia[/name] seem odder than some other flowers.
[name]Favorite[/name] less-used flower name I’d actually want to use? [name]Lilac[/name].
Beautiful in principle, but I don’t think I’d actually use*? [name]Hyacinth[/name].
*I’m not sure if that’s because I consider it too odd (which would be strange, as that’s rarely my reason for rejecting anything) or simply because it wouldn’t just have to compete in its own class but against equally uncommon non-florals.
I knew a [name]Laurel[/name] once. Suited her perfectly.
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Zinnia[/name]! I think it’s so sweet and spunky. [name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] is on my long list.
I love flower names, but I’m not really sure most of them are that unusual. [name]Violet[/name], [name]Liliana[/name], [name]Bryony[/name], [name]Fleur[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Dahlia[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Leilani[/name], [name]Bluebell[/name], [name]Azalea[/name], [name]Orchid[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Posey[/name], and [name]Primrose[/name] are my favorites.
I think that [name]Lilac[/name] is a really great suggestion!
Personally, I don’t care for [name]Amaryllis[/name] either. [name]Zinnia[/name] is offbeat and pretty – though I think most people are unaware that it’s a type of flower. [name]Don[/name]'t know if that makes it more or less appealing to you.
zinnia how cute love it im a nickname type of person i would call her zinny what would you call her agen cutest name ever xox
I think it’s lovely
I think [name]Azalea[/name] has the same zip as [name]Zinnia[/name] but seems flexible in terms of growing up with a child.
[name]Marigold[/name], perhaps. [name]Zinnia[/name] is definitely not common, but I don’t think it’s hard to pronounce and spell. Depending on how uncommon your last name is, I probably wouldn’t try and get too uncommon with a first name, too, though.
Thanks, everyone! I would love to use this name for our baby girl due in a few months, but I don’t think I have a prayer of getting my husband on board. If you can, I would love to know your thoughts on combos that include [name]Zinnia[/name] as a first name and an easy-to-spell and easy-to-pronounce middle name. Thanks again!
I like Zunnua and most other uncommon flower names. [name]Amaryllis[/name] is on my list too, but only as a middle because I worry about yllis names being rhymed with syphilis And clitoris
I think [name]Zinnia[/name] is very workable, I don’t see any issues. I think it’s pretty, personally. My favorite flower name is [name]Magnolia[/name].
I love [name]Zinnia[/name]! It’s beautiful and fun. I also like [name]Dahlia[/name], [name]Calla[/name], [name]Aster[/name], and [name]Azalea[/name] as unusual flower names and [name]Linden[/name] and [name]Bay[/name] are my favorite tree names.
[name]Zinnia[/name] is adorable–Zinny is a cute nickname, too! If I didn’t already have a [name]Vinny[/name], it’d be on my list.
From another [name]Heather[/name] who also loves flower names – [name]Zinnia[/name] is great!
My favorites are [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Lavender[/name]. I’ll probably never use [name]Lavender[/name] though. It’s too long and I can’t think of any good nicknames. I also like [name]Delphine[/name] as short for Delphinium.
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]/[name]May[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (common mn, but still pretty)
I think it’s usable, but it seems like it would go with a certain type of girl. My favorite floral is [name]Linnea[/name].
I’d look for something 1- or 2-syll, doesn’t start or end in -a for middle. Some that are also easy to spell and prn:
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Helen[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Mary[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Chloe[/name] ([name]Chloe[/name] means young green shoot)
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Susan[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Margo[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] (3-syll, but I think it works)
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Kate[/name] (I don’t love [name]Kate[/name] on its own, but plenty of people do, it’s fine)
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Fay/name
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Faith[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (yes, I know it’s overdone…I still like it)
Sure there are more. Good luck!
