Is it weird to use a zodiac name if the child isn’t that zodiac sign? [name_f]My[/name_f] spouse and I both like [name_u]Aries[/name_u] for a boy but Jellybean is due late [name_u]September[/name_u]/early [name_u]October[/name_u] so it seems a little odd to name a [name_f]Libra[/name_f], [name_u]Aries[/name_u].
It’s not that we’re big into astrology it just seems mismatched. Is it actually weird or are we over thinking it?
I know someone named Lïbrä who is actually a Pisces.
I really like the name [name_u]Aries[/name_u]! I’m so undecided about whether I want day-of-the-week, month, or zodiac names to align with their birth day, month, or sign. Today, I don’t want them to align, but tomorrow I’ll probably feel different I know that’s probably not helpful lol
I don’t think it matters… seasonal names ([name_f]Autumn[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f]) don’t always match the season they were born. Same with month names ([name_f]April[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u], etc).
Name what you love!
I agree with @hannahhh that [name_u]Aries[/name_u] could end up in another part of the chart too.
I also want to point out, like an extreme astrology nerd, that [name_u]Mars[/name_u] will be in [name_f]Libra[/name_f] then and possibly conjunct the [name_f]Sun[/name_f] so [name_u]Aries[/name_u] may not be too unfitting after all.
Also, I think you should just use it because you like it and it’s cool.
I don’t see anything wrong with it. There are people named [name_f]Summer[/name_f] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] who weren’t born in their respective seasons, and there are people named [name_f]May[/name_f] and [name_u]August[/name_u] who weren’t born in those months.
I also don’t see how [name_u]Aries[/name_u] could be offensive to a Greek person (although I’m not Greek so take this with a grain of salt). [name_u]Aries[/name_u] is the Greek god of war, but [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], etc are from Greek mythology and those names seem like fair game.
Unless [name_u]Aries[/name_u] is sacred, I imagine you’d be fine using it
I’d go for it! For what it’s worth, many astrologers believe that the rising sign of a person’s chart is the ruler of the chart. So [name_u]Aries[/name_u] might be more fitting if that ended up being their ascendant placement.
FWIW, DH’s family is Greek and a family member has [name_u]Aries[/name_u] as their MN. Not sure if others would be offended but that hasn’t been my experience.
I second what most people have said, it doesn’t matter that much and they might have [name_u]Aries[/name_u] in their chart anyway. Also the greek god is called [name_m]Ares[/name_m] not [name_u]Aries[/name_u].
Uh, I’m Greek and I have no idea why that’d be. I think [name_u]Aries[/name_u] is so handsome! I’m an astrology nerd, and though I think it might be slightly weird on a [name_f]Libra[/name_f] (I’m one!) he’s still likely to have it in his chart somewhere and it has a lovely sound so why not!
I’m sure you were coming from a good place, don’t worry about it! Though since culturally insensitive names are a sensitive topic and it might scare parents away from names, maybe don’t share assumptions without being sure of them. Again I’m sure you had nice intentions though! But I still don’t get how [name_u]Aries[/name_u] could be offensive to anybody lol
I am an [name_u]Aries[/name_u]. If a met someone with the name I’m not gonna lie it would be my first question lol. What about the spelling [name_m]Ares[/name_m]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] are you not keen. I don’t think it’s unusable it has a nice sound, go for it.
