My preference is Zoe but I live in US and I’ve had a couple people say that it’ll get misspelled as Zoey (and Zoey will get misspelled as Zoe less often) What do y’all think??

I live in the US as well and [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is the intuitive spelling for me. I wouldn’t even think to ask. I think [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is a well established name here, with that spelling, and that adding the y is unnecessary. She actually may even end up having to say “It’s [name_f]Zoey[/name_f], with a y” in some situations!

I also live in the US and I have always seen [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] never [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] sooo…

[name_u]Zoe[/name_u] and [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] both rank fairly highly in the US - with [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] being slightly higher (38 vs 45), so I think whichever you use, you’re good - and might have to correct :person_shrugging: I prefer the tidy look of [name_u]Zoe[/name_u]

I live in the US also and my default would be [name_u]Zoe[/name_u]! The [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] spelling bugs me a little to be honest, the y is so extraneous. [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] doesn’t get spelled Chloey, or [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] spelled [name_f]Daphney[/name_f].

[name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is great, though.

[name_f]Zoey[/name_f] seems more intuitive to me but I think [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is gaining in popularity here so either should be fine

Cool! Thanks everyone! I think it’s more the State I live in. The y is used more frequently. But I do much prefer the [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] spelling. I feel more validated now lol. I’m sure I’d have to correct people some either way but this does make me feel better that the [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] spelling wouldn’t be too crazy to use here.

[name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is definitely the more popular, timeless spelling in the US, while [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] is more trendy. [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] is currently more popular:

I wouldn’t think twice about the pronunciation of [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] (I’m on the [name_u]East[/name_u] Coast).

I like the name, but find it a bit 2000s and [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] is very 2000s!

I would spell it [name_f]Zoë[/name_f]. I personally think it looks best that way.

I used to hate [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] and find it terribly trendy and misspelled. But lately I’ve been thinking that it’s kind of nice and cool. But it does remind me a lot of [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] 101 (which was a terrible show, in my opinion) and [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] Deutch so it feels very 2000s [name_u]California[/name_u] Teenager.

I would go with [name_f]Zoë[/name_f] because in the long term it will age better. I like [name_f]Zoey[/name_f], though.
