Zoie?

[name]Do[/name] you think the name [name]Zoe[/name] spelled [name]Zoie[/name] looks funny? I keep going back and forth between [name]Zoe[/name], [name]Zoey[/name],Xoe & [name]Zoie[/name]. My friend today recommended Zohee or Zohey:D

My advice if to keep the spelling simple and the most authentic: [name]Zoe[/name]. Why complicate a girls life? She will only have to spell it as long as she lives and with some of them ([name]Zoie[/name], Xoe, Zohee, Zohey), pronounce it as well.

I definitely like [name]Zoe[/name] the best. I probably wouldn’t recognize that some of these (Zohee, Zohey, Xoe) were meant to be alternative spellings of [name]Zoe[/name], and I don’t think that I would intuitively pronounce them the same way if I saw them written down somewhere. [name]Zoie[/name] and [name]Zoey[/name] would probably get the correct pronunciation, but I much prefer [name]Zoe[/name] aesthetically.

My favorite is [name]Zo[/name]ë (WITH the umlaut!)
[name]Zoie[/name] looks like a French spelling to me. I don’t mind it, but I’d want to pronounce it “Zwah.”

[name]Zoe[/name] is beautiful, clean and simple. All your other choices just complicate the matter. When I see [name]Zoie[/name] I say Zoy in my head.

My opinion?

Spell it [name]Zoe[/name] or don’t use it at all.

These trendy, modern spellings are awful, and Xoe, Zohee and Zohey in particular hurt my eyes!

I completely agree with maggiemary and pretty much everything else that’s been said.

[name]Zoe[/name] is the proper spelling, the majority of people know how to spell and say it, and why needlessly complicate things? I wouldn’t put the umlaut either as the girl I know who’s [name]Zoe[/name] with an umlaut hates it. Her teachers never write it, she never writes it herself, and half the time, people mispronounce it because of the umlaut. They say zoh-ay a lot and when she says “No, [name]Zo[/name]-ee” they say “Of well I just thought with that accent it was different”

So just use the proper spelling, [name]Zoe[/name]. It’s a beautiful name.

I am glad [name]Zoe[/name] tends to be the favorite because that is what we originally wanted <3 But when my friend brought up adding a ‘y’ and Zoie it sort of made my mind crank again LOL

I know a [name]Zoe[/name] spelled [name]Zoey[/name] too and not one person spells it right the first time. When she tells the teachers or anyone “It’s [name]Zoey[/name]” they spell it [name]Zoe[/name]. When she says “With a Y” She usually gets this sort of lok O_o Before people just add a y.

[name]Just[/name] stick with the classic one you both originally wanted

[name]Zoe[/name] is nice. It’s the only way I like the name.

On forums (and in real life), I will only suggest going for [name]Zoe[/name]. Its simple, it’s classic, and usually people don’t have a problem figuring out the popularity. It’s popular enough that I don’t think you need the y or the ie or the ooey or whatever to insure the pronunciation that you want, and its simple and clean cut and sweet.

However, I am a huge sucker for the [name]Zoie[/name] spelling. It’s sprightly, to me. While I wouldn’t use it, and I don’t really publicly condone it, I do love it and would probably love seeing it in real life. It’s just too much of a hassle to deal with, and I think just [name]Zoe[/name] presents a much more respectable image for professional situations.

Good luck!

[name]Zoie[/name] does look pretty odd to me. I go back and forth about whether I prefer [name]Zoe[/name] or [name]Zoey[/name]. [name]Both[/name] of those are fine, though [name]Zoey[/name] may have problems with spelling. Definitely a big fat no to Xoe, Zohey, [name]Zooey[/name] (that actress - I always call her zoo-ee), or whatever other random spelling anyone comes up with.

Me too!

I really dislike all spellings except [name]Zoe[/name].

Technically [name]Zoe[/name] (and [name]Chloe[/name]) in English should have an umlaut to make the pronunciation of the ‘e’ make sense. However, since everyone knows how to spell and say both in modern times, you can get away with just spelling it [name]Zoe[/name].

Any other way just looks daft.

[name]ZOE[/name]!! Please let it be just [name]ZOE[/name]!!! My [name]Zoe[/name] was able to spell her name by the time she was 2 & write it by the time she was 3.

Like most other posters, I only like the [name]Zoe[/name] spelling.

[name]Zoie[/name] makes me think, “zoy-ee” so I’d not recommend it. Personally, my favorite’s always been [name]Zoey[/name]. That’s how I thought you spelled it because I watched [name]Zoey[/name] 101 as a kid. Then when I stumbled upon [name]Zoe[/name], I thought that was just pronounced “zo”. [name]Zoe[/name], however, has grown on me as the original spelling and that is the one I would go with.

I guess I am different. I like the [name]Zoie[/name] spelling you have , it kind of looks exotic without being weird. Yes, she (and you for a while) would have to spell it for everyone. That happens.

I do not like the Xoe, or the Zohey spellings.

PLEASE spell it right! All of those kreatyve spellings are horrible. Stick with [name]Zoe[/name].
