It sounds made up to me. Which… I guess all names were made up at some point, weren’t they!? But it’s not my style. It kind of feels like someone was trying to make [name_u]Orion[/name_u] sound more unique, but [name_u]Orion[/name_u] is more my style I guess!
It’s an actual name, Basque in origin. It means “happiness”.
I like the meaning. It sounds pleasant enough. I know it’s a real name but with the letter z being considered cool these days, I do think many will think it’s a modern made up name. I would constantly feel the need to tell people about the name’s origins… and that’s annoying. So the name is out of my comfort zone… but some people getting the wrong vibe from the name may not bother you in which case, thumbs up.
If I hadn’t looked it up I would have been unsure of the pronunciation, I think it feels a bit more natural to pronounce it like [name_u]Orion[/name_u] with a Z before the first O. Though I could get used to the actual pronunciation easily and I don’t think this is a huge issue.
It’s a cool name and I like how unusual it is, though it sounds a bit too modern for my tastes and I prefer [name_u]Orion[/name_u]. I’d be pleasantly surprised to meet someone with such a unique and attractive name in real life
I did actually know that, I just meant that some names, out of context/place of origin, sound made up. One of my best friends is from Bilbao, and we met a little boy there named Zorionak, which means congratulations. I should have clarified that, sorry! I realize now that my response didn’t really convey what I was trying to say.
I prefer [name_u]Orion[/name_u] or [name_u]Zion[/name_u].
If it rhymes with [name_u]Orion[/name_u], I think it’s pretty bad. If it rhymes with [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], I think it’s better, though not great.
