Not sure what we’re having but will be number 4. Big brothers Elliot and Arthur and sister Madeleine. Will be quite close in age to Madeleine. If a girl would like a French name if possible. We like Lea? Possibly Leonore? If a boy possibly Henry or Lewis? Would like a clan name if possible. All names need to be saint names too. Open to suggestions!
PS boy’s middle name will be Paul; girl’s middle name Christine or possibly Margaret
Oh I love [name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] . For a boy I am LOVING [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] . I think if you used [name_m]Louis[/name_m] you would get the [name_f]French[/name_f] flaire as well
[name_m]Elliot[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] are beautiful! [name_f]My[/name_f] first idea was [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], or maybe [name_f]Cécile[/name_f] if you want the [name_f]French[/name_f] form? [name_f]Lea[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] are beautiful as well! I’m not too familiar with [name_m]Saint[/name_m] names, but I am rather fond of [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] or [name_f]Geneviève[/name_f] which is a [name_f]French[/name_f] saint name. I also love [name_f]Odilia[/name_f] but I’m not sure what the [name_f]French[/name_f] form would be, Odilie or [name_f]Odette[/name_f] maybe? [name_m]Or[/name_m] [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]?
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] or [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] is super lovely, so is [name_m]Henry[/name_m]! Both work perfect with [name_m]Elliot[/name_m] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].
Here’s a mix of saint names for both genders I think would be nice with your kiddos:
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_m]Alban[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Anselm[/name_m]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_m]Cornelius[/name_m]
[name_m]Cyril[/name_m]
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_m]Flavian[/name_m]
[name_m]Florian[/name_m]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_f]Perpetua[/name_f] (couldn’t help but squeeze her in, I love Perpetua!)
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_m]Roderic[/name_m]
[name_m]Amias[/name_m]
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_f]Verena[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
I think a longer name than Lea given you have Madeleine.
I would chose Leonor* (Lenny/Lea/Leo/Nora etc) or Cecilia (nn Cece/Lia/Sissy) - I love both of these!
*prefer this spelling but get the “e”‘might seem more complete.
Re boys’ names, I like Henry & Lewis. Lewis feels a little too close to Elliot somehow but it doesn’t matter as much when they’re not back to back siblings. Lewis will be more distinct among all the Henry’s and it’s a doubly name. Would spell it Louis if you want the French (Lou-ee) pronunciation.
Otherwise:
Josephine
Chloe
Celestine (which could also be your nod to Christine)
Camille
Francine
Sylvie
Hugo
Theo
Harvey (less popular than Henry)
Julian / Jules (not sure if Julian and Elliot are too close, French spelling is Julien but possibly not worth it?)
Felix
Bastien
I love [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] as sister names and I definitely think you could have [name_f]Lea[/name_f] be a nickname for her
For boys I have a sweet spot for [name_m]Henry[/name_m] but if you’re looking for something more uncommon then [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] is definitely the way to go
Congratulations!
I love the idea of giving a girl a [name_f]French[/name_f] name to match [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (I love that spelling!)
[name_m]Saint[/name_m] names are my absolute favorite baby name category. There’s so much meaning in them! And [name_f]French[/name_f] names are my favorite category for girls! So [name_f]French[/name_f] saint names are wonderful!
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] (St. Julia)
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] (St. [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] of Lima)
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (Stella Maris)
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f] (St. Therese’s sister, a Servant of [name_m]God[/name_m], but there’s also a St. Leonie)
Marguerite/Margot
[name_f]Therese[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilie[/name_f] (Pope JPII’s mom’s name was [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and she’s now a Servant of [name_m]God[/name_m], there’s also a St. Emilie)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
I love [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and Lewis/Louis for boys with your family!
Other suggestions:
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]James[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
Benedict/Benjamin
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] (if you don’t do Leanore/Lea/LeonieLeonora)
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Lawrence[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
Edmund/Edward
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
Honestly, I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is the best fit!
There’s a wonderful Catholic baby name blog called Sancta Nomina that has SO MANY saint names and names with saint connections (as well as quite a few [name_f]French[/name_f] names!)
Personally, I’d go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. It’s just my favourite french name and I think [name_m]Elliot[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] sounds stunning. [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] & [name_f]Marley[/name_f] for sisters close in age. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]. GORGEOUS.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Leonore[/name_f]? I prefer [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] but my husband not keen and [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] is the [name_f]French[/name_f] variation in any case … he’s open to it. Think it’s growing on us both.
Can’t use [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] but love them all …
Really love [name_f]Flora[/name_f] but a veto from husband.
Flortina maybe too out there!
Thanks so much for your suggestions! Yes I think [name_f]Lea[/name_f] is a sweet nickname for [name_f]Leonore[/name_f] and is still part of a name that pairs well with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] who sometimes gets called [name_f]Maddie[/name_f].
If a boy, not wanting a [name_f]French[/name_f] name per se. Both [name_m]Elliot[/name_m] and [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] are regular names but also clan names- same with [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] …
Crazy but for a variety of reasons there’s only two from your list that we would possibly use: [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
[name_f]Emilie[/name_f] is beautiful but not sure I want another E name and would worry too common. But actually so pretty and amazingly not used in the family so it’s a contender.
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] is such a great, classic name with a spunky vibe so it’s a strong contender too.
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] but there’s one in the family albeit in another country and always called [name_f]Eve[/name_f] … It really goes well [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and is a stunning name with lovely nn though.
[name_m]Stewart[/name_m] or [name_m]Stuart[/name_m] does tick the criteria boxes but don’t love … also have considered [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] and [name_m]Gregor[/name_m] but sadly not contenders
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] is so chic I agree. Plus it would be a nod to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] which is a family name. Husband didn’t like when I suggested before but will ask again. Our last name starts with a M too- too much?
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] is so lovely
Thanks so much for your suggestions- will check out blog rec!
Of your suggestions I’ve put forward [name_f]Therese[/name_f] (my confirmation name) and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] previously but husband not keen on either.
I absolutely love [name_m]James[/name_m] but husband not keen. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] you like [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I have a cousin who has twin boys [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Luke[/name_m] but they live in another country … but probably the main reason [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] wasn’t [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Now I don’t care as much. Mainly I need a name that goes with middle name [name_m]Paul[/name_m] and pairs well with siblings, esp [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].
