Names in italics are Hebrew names and therefore wouldn’t be on the birth certificate/would only be used occasionally and within a specific context. [name_f]My[/name_f] side of the family is Jewish, my husband/'s family isn’t.
[name_u]Basil[/name_u] [name_m]Eoin[/name_m] [name_u]Lior[/name_u]- [name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s favourite name for a boy, because he likes the nature feel, the fact it’s quite uncommon, the fact it’s difficult to nickname, and he just likes saying it (note: [name_f]British[/name_f] pronunciantion - Bah-zil not Bay-zil). [name_m]Eoin[/name_m] is the [name_u]Irish[/name_u] form of my dad’s name, which honours my dad and also my husband’s [name_u]Irish[/name_u] citizenship. [name_u]Lior[/name_u] is a Hebrew name meaning ‘light’, and is a nod to my sister whose Hebrew name is [name_f]Ora[/name_f] (also meaning light).
[name_m]Colin[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Noam[/name_u] - [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite name for a boy: my paternal grandfather’s name and also a name from The [name_f]Secret[/name_f] Garden which is one of my favourite books. (My other top top boys names are [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m], but DH vetoed both). [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] is just a name I really like that I could possibly convince my husband into! I prefer names to have at least once choice where it’s not an honour, so since [name_m]Colin[/name_m] is in the first name slot, it makes sense to me that the name in the middle is just one because we like it. [name_u]Noam[/name_u] just feels similar to my late mother’s name - [name_f]Naomi[/name_f].
[name_m]Russell[/name_m] [name_u]George[/name_u] [name_m]Natan[/name_m] - [name_m]Russell[/name_m] is our joint second favourite boys name. I don’t really know why, we both just really like it. [name_u]George[/name_u] is a family surname for DH. [name_m]Natan[/name_m] is a Hebrew name I’ve always really liked, it means ‘gift’ and is a small nod to my SIL who is [name_f]Natalie[/name_f].
[name_m]Nye[/name_m] [name_u]William[/name_u] [name_m]Oren[/name_m] - [name_m]Aneurin[/name_m] ‘Nye’ [name_u]Bevan[/name_u] was the founder of the [name_f]British[/name_f] National Health Service (NHS) which I work for and we both have a deep respect and pride for, even with its flaws. [name_u]William[/name_u] is a family name on both sides. [name_m]Oren[/name_m] is a Hebrew word that means ‘laurel or pine tree’ the laurel meaning makes it a good subtle honour for my MIL who is [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] (‘garland, crown’ but they were often made of laurel leaves!)
