Hubby and I seriously considered moving there several years ago. He’s very emotionally connected to those mountains, so this is partially for him, but also because I love the meaning. The trees are my happy place. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is after Hubby’s great grandma, [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], and because some form of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] has been on my list since I was like 5. It’s time I used it! [name_f]Kate[/name_f] connects her to my mom, sister, grandma, 2 aunts and me. We all have some form of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] either as our first or middle name.

Plus my grandma disclosed to me before she passed that she wished she had named my aunt [name_f]Laura[/name_f] after her grandma or had another daughter to name [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. This would be for my grandma as well. [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] and [name_f]Belle[/name_f] help create the initials LAB which was my mother-in-law’s initials before she was married. They also honor my great grandma, [name_f]Maebelle[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband vetoed it for our 10yo and I loved it long before that. [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is just cute and completes the initials CEW which were mine before I was married and are my dad’s.

[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] was my babysitter’s name before I started school. She was an elderly lady whom I adored and called [name_u]Nana[/name_u] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] honors her. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] was my grandma’s middle name along with a string of other great great great etc. grandmothers in my family tree.

my absolute favourite name, and has been for a while now. darcie has that summery, sunny sound and i love the spunky -ie ending. i feel like anybody could be a darcie. it is also a coincidental honour for my parents (one’s name starts with dar- and the other’s also starts with da- and goes by an -i ending nickname). joanna is melodic and timeless, the other name my parents considered for me. i like that it’s a nod to all three of us in that way. i could also call her darcie jo which is a cute connection to how my mum called me jemma lou (from my middle name louise) when i was younger!

summer elise
summer for the season, of course! i live for the summertime and everything it brings and for that reason it’s such a joyful name to me. i think that would be a lovely sentiment to pass on to my girls. elise is partly for the lovely sound and partly as a honour. there are so many important people in my life with el- names, and elise captures this.

bronte marlene
bronte is a name i’ve termed the ‘queen of good associations’. the name of a beach in my state, a strong nature meaning in “thunder”, olympic swimmer bronte campbell and charlotte brontë are all plusses. i love the strength and beauty this name represents and the opportunity to use one of my favourite nicknames, bee! marlene is a bit of a stylistic outlier but she’s endearingly stuffy. i’ve also realised that she could be an honour for both my grandmothers (the ‘mar’ part for one and the ‘len’ part for another).

classy, distinctive and musical, i love that imogen is feminine without being frilly. she has so many nickname options i love - immy, mim, midge, ginny - and the meaning “daughter” is sweet as that’s exactly what she’d be. my usual middle is lily, which i adore both with imogen and separately, but i don’t think i could ever neglect my darling mia. i can’t imagine a world where i didn’t have a daughter that had mia somewhere in her name, as she’s incredibly meaningful. she used to honour one of my dearest friends, and while we’ve since drifted a little she still symbolises the idea of a true friend in tough times. i think she’s extraordinarily appealing beyond this too - short and sweet, and lovely meanings of “mine”, “drop of the sea” - reflecting my love of the water - and “beloved”.
