A sister for Clyde?

Not currently pregnant, but always amending my list for when baby #3 comes along.

We currently have two boys- [name_m]Warren[/name_m] and [name_m]Clyde[/name_m].

I love both of their names, but I would say [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] is a bit more emblematic of what I would be looking for in a name for our next child.

I felt a little worried when we chose his name because it got some unsavory responses from some family members, but I could not be more happy with it. [name_f]My[/name_f] mother randomly mentioned recently how well it suits him.

To me, [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] just strikes the perfect balance of being recognizable yet somewhat unexpected (everyone at the pediatrician’s office gushes over his name and the doctor told me he’s the only [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] she’s had in over 30 years of practice); easy to pronounce and spell (I cannot count how many times people have misheard [name_m]Warren[/name_m] as [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]- one of our elderly neighbors actually still thinks he is named [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] :joy:); a smidge quirky or offbeat without being yOuNiQuE; and it’s short, sweet, and simple while still feeling strong and sturdy. I just absolutely love it (even though I know it isn’t everyone’s style) and the name just looks/feels so HIM.

I always have a running list of names for baby #3, but I don’t know that I’ve found a girl name that makes my heart sing the way my boys’ names do.

Any suggestions on girls names based on what I’ve described above?

For reference, here are some girls names on my list- some are contenders, some wouldn’t be used for various reasons, some I sort of kind of like but don’t love, some have gotten too popular:

You have a really great list! I love so many but just going to focus on the names that I think are amazing with your boys.

I would say with older siblings Warr3n & Clyd3 [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] + [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] are the winners.

[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] & [name_f]Della[/name_f] all have that midcentury
clunky cool vibe which Clyd3 possess. [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] feels very unexpected, retro, easy to pronounce and a little rockstar. [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] again feels unexpected and has a similar feel to Clyd3 + Warr3n I can just visualise these three together.
[name_f]Della[/name_f] is fun, kooky with a melodic sound.

[name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] & [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] all have a sweet, feminine vintage flair. [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is a lovely biblical name that shares the ‘e’ sound with his brothers so feels very in keeping whilst having her own individualistic ending. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a lovely name that feels whimsy whilst familiar. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] provides similar vibes to [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] both names would be sweet with your boys. Finally [name_m]Pearl[/name_m] just gives the right vibe! Absolutely gorgeous.

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] & [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] do feel slightly different less midcentury like your boys however I think they sound spunky and bright with your boys.

You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with berries

This is quite a wide brief in many ways, but I see something vintage with a touch of [name_m]Southern[/name_m] charm.

[name_m]Clyde[/name_m] is such a cool name!

From your list I love [name_f]Edith[/name_f] ‘Edie’ and [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] the best. They are eclectic but not unheard of, and they are sort of unfashionably cool, like [name_m]Warren[/name_m] and [name_m]Clyde[/name_m]! (In a good way haha).

Other suggestions:

[name_f]Norma[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Josie[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f] or [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] suit best. Mean they each get a different starting letter and ending sound, they’re not too vintage (as in turn of century), they seem more 1930-1950, which is where I’d place [name_m]Warren[/name_m] & [name_m]Clyde[/name_m].

I like [name_f]Betty[/name_f] too but you might get [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] comments - so maybe [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Betty[/name_f]? It’s similar to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and gives you [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] & [name_f]Beth[/name_f] too.

How about:

[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]
[name_f]Suzette[/name_f]

Hi. I can’t seem to pull up the original post unfortunately, but it looks like you already have two boys, named Warren and Clyde (which are great brw) These two names are very Scottish or something that would fit in Scotland very well, so I would personally continue that trend. Right, your original post finally popped up! I now see you aren’t expecting yet, so forgive my last comment, but me and my husband do the same ( me mainly because I’m a baby naming addict ) we like to have our names in advance (then they usually organically change somehow during pregnancy lol :joy:). I also won’t go for anything I believe is too popular. I am so glad to see that I already picked some of the names on your list for you! I have to advocate for Tallulah and Fiona because they are mine and my sister’s names! Apart from that, I love love Edith/Edie, Suzie or Susie, Farrah, Estelle or Estella, Esther (We were going to use this for our baby this time, but changed it when I became pregnant ) and Betsy. I really like names like Lola, Pearl and Freya but feel they are way too popular for me now. I also love Enid, that has been suggested by a few other Berries.

I hope you find that sparkle :sparkling_heart: name soon!
