A thread for people (like me) too nosy for their own good!

My name is [name]Heather[/name] and I’m 30 (and you felt old [name]Winnie[/name])! My husband and I have been married for 4 years and have a daughter who is 2, [name]Grace[/name] [name]Marie[/name] (born when I was 28). We have a baby boy on the way who we will name, [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Anderson[/name]. We waited until later in life to have children so that we could complete our educations and buy a house.

lemon,
I have a masters in English Education but I have been a stay-at-home mom every since [name]Grace[/name] was born. I don’t plan to go back to work. Being a stay at home mom is the most rewarding job I have ever had. My husband has a PhD in Business Security and works for the Government.

[name]Both[/name] of our pregnanies were planned. In fact they were overly planned in some people’s opinion. I was charting my cycle with both pregnancies.

On a side note, I never realized how many college students were on here  So I don’t feel too old…I also have a cat named [name]Azrael[/name].

[name]Hi[/name], I’m [name]Chloe[/name]. I might be the youngest on this site, I’m not 13 yet! ([name]Will[/name] be soon…) I am an only child sort of, complicatedly, so that might be why I love kids and want a big family, which leads to my love of names! I hvae a dog named [name]Annie[/name] and I almost wish it weren’t her name because I love it so much for a person! I tend to like a bit more traditional names, but I also often like popular names, which I could never use!

Wow, thanks for answering my question, mothers! I think it is so cool that many of you have decided to take leave of work and stay home with your children! I’m not sure what I’ll end up doing when I have my own children, but, at this point, I can’t think of anything I’d like more than staying home and caring for them each day.

We’ll have to see how attached to my career I become…

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Ah[/name] I feel so old! I’m [name]Lucinda[/name] “[name]Lucy[/name]”, and I’m (wait for it) 32 years old. (My parent’s were [name]WAY[/name] ahead of the curve when they named me. As in 50-60 years ahead. I grew up in the era of [name]Jennifer[/name] and [name]Stephanie[/name], so I hated having an old lady name. Now I love it though.)
I am currently a school counselor, a job I love for both the new names I get to see every year and the wonderful kids I get to help out.
I have four children, all of which are adopted from [name]China[/name]. [name]Calista[/name] ([name]Calie[/name]) is 12, [name]Gabriel[/name] ([name]Gabe[/name]) is 8, [name]Gracelyn[/name] ([name]Gracie[/name]) is 5, and [name]Camden[/name] ([name]Cam[/name]) is 3.

I’m 13… No kids… I do have a dog, but she was prenamed because we adopted her… I am a writer and I love coming up with names for characters!!

I had no idea name nerds came so young! I’m [name]Jacquelyn[/name], 25, expecting in [name]August[/name]. My hubby and I have been together 5 years, he proposed the day I graduated from college (B.A. in Biology). We’ve only been married for 8months now. We stopped preventing when we got married despite my student loans and I turned up preggy by [name]Christmas[/name]! I’m working as a Phlebotomist and begin my Master’s next year. I’ll work up until I pop, then be a stay at home mom for as long as I can  Everyone in my family will be suprised when I turn out to be the breastfeeding,co-sleeping, all-organic, green, mom with a nameberry baby ([name]Calliope[/name]?!)!

“Nothing is more important than this day.”

haha i like that, “name nerds” - sums it up nicely!
i’m a name nerd too- i’m 31, been married for 2.5 years and hubby and i are currently trying. we’re different ethnicities so its important we come up with names that’ll work in both cultures- he’s hungarian, i’m south asian. so, having said that, we’ve decided on [name]Gabriel[/name] for a boy and [name]Amalia[/name] (nn [name]Mia[/name]) for a girl. both are easy to pronounce and have great meanings. i also love arianna and eliana for girls but amalia is currently our top pick.

”shild, resident Norwegian name nerd, to be 20 in [name]August[/name] and completely aimless!
I have NO idea what to do with life, except that I want children. I’m only happy when I can spend the majority of my time in the company of children. It’s been proven this last year since I’ve been spending it with children of all ages and it’s made me happier than ever!

Twinkle, I don’t post very often, but I had to reply to this! Not only is your [name]Raffy[/name]'s name my very favourite boys name I have ever seen on Nameberry, one that I would steal myself in a heartbeat, but I have a cousin [name]Raphael[/name] (I suspect his real name is [name]Raphaello[/name], but that’s beside the point.) He’s actually my mother’s cousin. He is in his late 40’s, and goes by [name]Rafe[/name] (rhymes with ‘safe’). If he isn’t the most boring man alive I will lose all my faith in humanity. He used to be an accountant actually, but about ten years ago he re-trained in computer science. This makes for riveting conversation at family reunions, as you may imagine. The most interesting thing about him is that he let his wife choose the names of his children, so instead of [name]John[/name] and [name]Jane[/name], he has a [name]Bruno[/name] [name]John[/name] and a [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. My mother says he tried calling [name]Bruno[/name] ‘[name]John[/name]’ when [name]Bruno[/name] was little, but it never took. I WISH he collected top hats, but I am doomed to disappointment where he’s concerned. He doesn’t like me, because I have a degree in Classics and Latin, and WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO [name]DO[/name] WITH YOUR LIFE, [name]SOPHIA[/name]? is pretty much all he ever says to me.

Sorry for talking aimlessly myself, but I thought I should tell you that if a man is going to be dull and taupe, he prevail through the most extravagant of names. I have nothing against accountants, by the way, almost my entire family are accountants, and they are almost all wonderfully eccentric, or at the very least a little insane.

Its nice to see so many people around my own age  I’m [name]Brandi[/name]. About to turn 23, and married for almost 1 year now. No kids yet, and it depends on where me and my husband get stationed (he’s in the navy) as to how long we will wait. But we are both ready when the time is right! I’ve always had an obsession with names, but kept it to myself until this year when I found nameberry! My family has been very receptive to my name chatter, and I’ve even found out that some of my friends have a name obsession that they were hiding as well!!

[name]Hi[/name],
I’m [name]Lauren[/name] and I’m 25. I’ve been married for about 5 years now and I’m expecting my third (and last) baby in early summer.

To answer [name]Lemon[/name]'s question: I have a BA in Anthropology and I minored in Sociology. I’m a stay at home mom now though. My husband’s job involved a lot of moving around and lots of long hours so we just thought it made sense for me to stay home with the kids until they’re all school age. I do love getting to be home with them so I have no complaints.

It’s nice to “meet” everyone.

[name]Hi[/name]! it’s nice to learn a little about everyone  I’m [name]Alexa[/name],I’m 21, a college student and not planning on having children any time soon, though hopefully I’ll be married by next spring! I think my obsession with names confuses my SO but he listens to my favorites of the week even if he doesn’t understand it :stuck_out_tongue:

I am 26 and don’t have kids yet, just a name nerd. Getting married 10/10/10. I have two cats, both named after historical figures. [name]Harriet[/name] Tubman [name]Beecher[/name]-Stowe and [name]Teddy[/name] [name]Roosevelt[/name]. [name]Love[/name] learning about you guys and happy I’m not the only one on here who has always loved names!

Cool idea!

My name is [name]Staci[/name] and I am a 22 year old college student majoring in biology. Me and my partner have been dating for almost 3 years and plan to get married sometime after graduation. I plan to go strait into graduate school and would like to get my PhD and become a college professor. That means we wont be having kids until our late twenties/early thirties, which is perfect for us. We both have a lot we want to accomplish and do before setting down and having a family. Plus, after helping my sister raise her three kids I’m really not in that big of a hurry! We already have names picked out and my boyfriend totally supports my name craze (even though he doesnt understand it). We have very similar taste so picking names is easy. Our first boy will be [name]Andreas[/name] [name]Michael[/name] after his father. We are both [name]German[/name] and love [name]German[/name]/European names. For a girl our first choice right now is [name]Eva[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]. I’m really like [name]Emilia[/name] lately too.

It was nice “meeting” all of you!

I have my bachelors degree. I work full time while also taking care of my home, husband and baby girl ?. I should eat better and work out but i am still trying to figure it all out!

[name]Hi[/name] everyone, I’m [name]Marike[/name] (24) not married but involved (hopefully to be married), no kids yet. I’ve been name obsessed since forever. I love names starting with M. My daughter will have a M-name because it runs in my family, my mother is Mechthild and my grandma is [name]Margarethe/name. I name all my pets M-names up until recently because I couldn’t find a name that hubby loved. So my dog is [name]Enya[/name] instead of [name]Maya[/name]. My others were [name]Minka[/name], [name]Malu[/name], [name]Moritz[/name], [name]Mowgli[/name] and [name]Milli[/name].

My current favorite for a girl is [name]Malin[/name] or Maileen with the second name [name]Victoria[/name] (hubby loves it, not my first choice) We are not sure about a boy, he doesn’t really like my suggestions: [name]Matthis[/name], [name]Mads[/name], [name]Joris[/name], [name]Max[/name], [name]Taavi[/name], Tjorven and [name]Holden[/name].

Uh, I’m a student to become a teacher.
I’m [name]German[/name] by the way.

I have been married for 41 years and have a wonderful husband, two gorgeous kids, and five of the most beautiful grandchildren you could imagine.

I appeal to all the grandparents out there to come out of the closet and admit to being name nerds so they can contribute to nameberry too and enjoy the fun we have here.

twinkle I loved your description of your son’s name. I think that if you have an amazing name even if you turn out the to be as boring as my maths classes were at school you have the edge on the rest of the population.

My life revolves around my family and friends and I love to travel and I will be spending a long time overseas this year. All my friends love to travel too and we have interesting conversations about all parts of the world. This year I will be backpacking some of the time and at other times living in the lap of luxury all because I want to experience lots of things and meet interesting people and see amazing places.

I’m [name]Nicola[/name] i’m 22 and i only have an almost 3 month old son [name]Ronnie[/name] [name]Allan[/name] with my boyfriend [name]Steve/name. He was planned and we want more children. I’m the eldest of five and i want six lol. Gonna be hard work i know. My boyfriend is the eldest of 3 and he wants TEN! We’re both mad as hatters when it comes to babies though.

[name]Melissa[/name] and 27… I am engaged to get marry hopefully this year. We want a family soon… I had a miscarriage last fall so we decide to wait a bit. I had so many names pick out we change the name like 20 times but As of now we love [name]Ella[/name] for girl no middle name yet Any suggestions? And if it is a boy we like [name]Brandon[/name] [name]King[/name] yes [name]King[/name] if I have a boy he will be the 1st boy on my side of the family so he will be the king of the house.

I think your mother did quite well for a fifteen year old! [name]Scarlett[/name] is nice, and she tucked Junebug away in the middle … I like a lot of your siblings’ names, too - [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Lilly[/name] (although I prefer one L in the middle), plus it’s great to see [name]Wilma[/name] and [name]Gloria[/name] in use, and [name]Simba[/name], although I wouldn’t use it, is just brilliant!

Your children’s names are lovely - I especially like [name]Alice[/name] [name]Marie[/name], although I am biased, as my middle is [name]Alice[/name] and my sister’s is [name]Maria[/name].

As a fellow expectant mother of twin girls, I’m interested to know what you have chosen for yours …
