[name_f]Oona[/name_f] [name_f]Roisin[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] (25) is a young screenwriter who has worked with [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] on multiple occasions. [name_f]Oona[/name_f] thinks [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] has potential to go for in the business if she could only find a way to work on her focus. [name_f]Oona[/name_f] fears [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] has a tendency to get overwhelmed & is worried it may hold her back.

[name_f]Oona[/name_f] fell in love with writing & literature when she was about 7 years old. Her mother self published her own children’s book & [name_f]Oona[/name_f] thought it was the coolest thing ever. She remembers seeing her mother’s books for the first time in a tangible medium. All of the bright scenes and characters felt like they were jumping off the page & now as a young adult [name_f]Oona[/name_f] assists them.

Unlike most of her fellow screenwriters [name_f]Oona[/name_f] is perfectly content with keeping her films small. She enjoys entering her films into festivals & even traveling for them. One of her favorite memories is when she entered one of her first films into the Sapporo Short Fest in Japan & got to see Japan for the first time. She enjoyed visiting the Hokkaido Museum of Modern [name_m]Art[/name_m] & even made a new friend while touring the Ishiya Chocolate Factory.

Manbir Oviyan Varma (45) is an indie film director who hired [name_f]Oona[/name_f] as his screenwriter for his upcoming film [name_f]Indian[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] about a young single mother who gets into a yoga club for fun but then discovers how shallow the Western approach to yoga is by talking to her [name_f]Indian[/name_f] co-worker about it. Facing harassment at work, she and her co-worker decide to spontanously go on a journey to Northern [name_f]India[/name_f] in order to discover the Hindu spiritual origins of yoga and find themselves. They end up falling in love and sorting out their life in [name_f]India[/name_f].

Manbir needed someone like [name_f]Oona[/name_f] to work on the project because he thought she was very open-minded and willing to be educated about other cultures. He also thought that [name_f]Oona[/name_f] is rather talented based on her previous work which he saw while visiting the Sapporo Short Film festival with his wife, who is Japanese-American. [name_f]Oona[/name_f] seemed to display genuine passion and a positive outlook on life in her work , which Manbir thought would make his film fresh and relatable. Manbir lacks such an outlook because of his tough childhood in Northern [name_f]India[/name_f] - which was full of hunger and poverty.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] after he and his parents emigrated to the US , Manbir was met with many unrealistic expectations from his parents of immediately assimilating in American culture and excelling in biology class to become a doctor. By the time he turned 18 his relations with his family were already very strained. At 19 he secretly married his high-school sweetheart, a Japanese-American woman and moved out of state to live with her. They now have two children - both daughters - and Manbir wants to make sure they have a financially stable home and no unreasonable expectations placed on them. Although his wife is the primary earner - working as a financial analyst - he himself is not only a director but also makes wedding videos and other gigs as a side-hustle, so they have two stable sources of income. He wants his daughters to develop a rich imagination and supports them in his creative endevours. They both are huge fans of the children’s books that [name_f]Oona[/name_f] 's mother writes

[name_f]Sadako[/name_f] " [name_f]Koko[/name_f] " Dayamai Varma (6) is Manbir’s younger daughter, who was considered a surprise baby following their older daughters’ birth. As the baby of the family, [name_f]Koko[/name_f] enjoys being doted upon by her parents and getting involved in mischief, having a very strong will that’s as much of a blessing as it is a curse. Although adventure’s something she loves, [name_f]Koko[/name_f] isn’t too sure what she’d like to do in her future - although her recent awareness of [name_f]Lara[/name_f] Croft means archeology is starting to pique her interest, thinking the idea of investigating abandoned temples and beautiful forgotten runes is absolutely amazing. This has only been encouraged more by Koko’s mom being in the process of making plans to visit her extended family in Kanazawa, a trip the little girl is delighted at the prospect of, given how she was too young to remember prior holidays the family took away from the States.

[name_f]Koko[/name_f] did speak to her dad about possibly appearing in one of his films but now feels more uncertain, as the idea of all her friends at school seeing this intimidates her greatly. She’s quite popular on account of her boldness and is best friends with another Japanese-American student as the two both speak the language, turning it into a secret code they indulge in (much to the annoyance of some of their other friends). Being multicultural is something [name_f]Koko[/name_f] has grown to love with the encouragement of her sister, being absolutely obsessed with spicy food of all kinds, and she’s always eager to share her food with classmates. Oona’s mothers books are those she’s familiar with and the prospect of actually meeting the author some day amazes [name_f]Koko[/name_f]: even if it brings out her relatively unseen shy side.

She is much more introverted than her sister and spends most of her time either listening to music (mainly Bollywood soundtracks , which she loves the colorful and chatoic nature of) or studying. Her favourite subject is maths and she is reasonably well-liked because she’s always open to explain some things to the classmates which may be having trouble. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up because the prospect of being a mentor and sharing her knowledge is really something that attracts her.

[name_f]Tara[/name_f] is rather happy that [name_f]Koko[/name_f] has gained a Japanese-American friend , as she considers herself too old to play with dolls and Littlest [name_f]Pet[/name_f] Shop Figurines. Now at least she isn’t constantly nagged by the 6-year-old to play or scolded by parents for refusing. The sisters don’t have too much in common other than being fans of the books that [name_f]Oona[/name_f] 's mother wrote - both being rather intimidated but excited by the prospect of meeting her. Another thing that brought them closer recently is brainstorming the activities that the family may do during the visited payed to their maternal family in Kanazawa. [name_f]Tara[/name_f] and [name_f]Koko[/name_f] are particularly excited about the fact that the city is coastal and borders the Japanese [name_u]Sea[/name_u] , as they love beach and water-related activities. [name_f]Tara[/name_f] even decided to be part of the school’s swim team rather than the [name_m]Math[/name_m] Club, which had many teachers shocked.

[name_f]Asuka[/name_f] is the second of four siblings and typically considered the most reserved and stoic, usually found enjoying documentaries or gaming in the comfort of her own space (see: her bedroom). The fact her little cousin [name_f]Tara[/name_f] looks up to her - on account of [name_f]Asuka[/name_f] being a very talented maths student who has a particular interest in programming and computing given codings use of numbers - intimidates her somewhat, as she enjoys fading into the background beside her siblings, all of whom have their own notable quirks and tend to be much more boisterous.

Aside from her friends - fellow gamers who exist in a small group at school, which is predominately made up of queer students (including [name_f]Asuka[/name_f] herself, who’s bisexual but more interested in women) - she’s usually kept company by the family’s younger dog: their excitable, three-legged [name_u]Jack[/name_u] [name_m]Russell[/name_m] named [name_f]Mindy[/name_f], who was adopted from a rescue shelter by Asuka’s mom. She loves going on bike rides with [name_f]Mindy[/name_f] either running alongside her or sitting in the basket; but when she’s in a rush takes her [name_f]Vespa[/name_f] and puts on her specialist carrier backpack, which allows [name_f]Mindy[/name_f] to accompany her on these journey’s. [name_f]Asuka[/name_f] works part-time at a second hand and vintage gaming shop where she does come out of her shell considerably, being well-liked on account of her non-snobbish attitude towards new gamers and emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility.

[name_u]Kaede[/name_u] is a smart cookie & has always gotten straight A’s in school with a particular knack for science, more specifically chemistry. She currently goes to a university in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Jersey[/name_u] attending courses for a food science degree and as even taking some classes in [name_f]Asian[/name_f] & [name_f]Asian[/name_f] American studies to keep in touch with her roots & heritage.

[name_u]Kaede[/name_u] has always had a passion for learning as well as cooking. Growing up her mom would let her help at in the kitchen which helped her grow a healthy relationship with not just her mother, but the food she was eating. One of her biggest indulgences is green tea cookies. She has been known to eat an entire batch in one sitting, but she will never admit to it out loud.

[name_u]Kaede[/name_u] has most recently become interested in molecular gastronomy and on an impulse bought herself a kit online. She is very excited for it come in the mail and spends some of her time watching YouTube videos on the subject. [name_m]Just[/name_m] recently she watched a video on a chef making transparent ravioli.

Outside of class & her bedroom she spends most of her time with her roommates and good friends. She is very extroverted and loves to get out of the house (but doesn’t mind a night at home with her green tea cookies and wild cooking videos). At first glance [name_u]Kaede[/name_u] comes off as the quiet types, but truthfully she can be one of the loudest in the room. She likes to think of herself as quite funny (though most people who know her find her jokes kind of cheesy) & will do anything to work a smile out of somebody, especially if she feels like they really needed one. Those her know her think she very kind & smart & find her fun to be around.

When she’s not cooking, vlogging, and taking [name_m]Eskender[/name_m] for long walks in the mountains, she reads, writes poetry, beats her father at Senterej, and plays PC games.

[name_m]Leroy[/name_m] Won-hyuk Saltmarsh (21) lives in the same dorm as [name_u]Kaede[/name_u] and is the one who sent her the videos that Etenesh made. He was adopted from Korea at 3 years of age and does not know much about his biological mother other than the fact that she turned 18 shorty after giving birth and wasn’t prepared for motherhood. She expressed it all in a letter that she left in the basket where the newborn boy was put and left on the doorstep of an international adoption centre. She swore in the letter that once she finishes high school and goes on to establish her career, she will find him. However, [name_m]Leroy[/name_m] doesn’t care and is adament that only his adoptive parents are the real ones and he will not risk the wonderful relationship he has with his mom only to get to know the woman who seemed to barely even care about what happens to him.

[name_m]Leroy[/name_m] is a rather private and introverted person and likes to pretend that [name_u]Kaede[/name_u] 's extroverted nature annoys him and that she’s too loud and obnoxious for him to even consider her as a romantic interest. However, he really has a crush on her and the crush only intensified after the Chemical Engineering student discovered that they both have an interest in cooking. Therefore he sent her the link to one of his favourite Youtuber’s videos so as to check if it will spark a conversation between them and surpriningly enough, it worked! Despite the teasing he endures from his roomates who now discovered this secret crush , he is hopeful about the future and thinks that it will soon be a good time to ask her out on a date. However, he also knows that his mother will be disappointed - as she is clearly trying to play matchmaker between him and a family friend’s daughter despite the fact that they actually disliked eachother in school and had an ongoing rivarly about who will be the best chemistry student. Despite [name_m]Leroy[/name_m] 's good communication skills, his mother refuses to see this and thinks that just because they both like chemistry and their families are close, they’re meant to be.

[name_f]Sybil[/name_f] " [name_f]Bibi[/name_f] " [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] Heinzworth (20) is one of Leroy’s roommates and designated mother of the house who organises the duty roter to make sure everyone’s pulling their weight. Bibi’s responsible with the authority placed in her hands and strives to be fair, even if it sometimes means she has to play referee to disagreements, but her level-headedness conquers all squabbles. People often assume [name_f]Bibi[/name_f] must have been raised in a parentified environment, but in actuality she only became a big sister when she was sixteen. Her dad and stepmom decided to start their family later in order to give [name_f]Bibi[/name_f] time to adjust to these changes, as well as the fact her mom and future stepmother were settling into their relationship; but she was delighted when her little sister was born, and also shares a good relationship with her stepbrother on her mom’s side, even though they see less of one another know Bibi’s at college and he spends one week with his dad. Coming from a blended family is something she’s very open and happy about, being grateful her parents get on in spite of no longer being a couple, and she’s especially close with her dad’s wife who helped [name_f]Bibi[/name_f] overcome her fears that her dyspraxia (which makes physical writing very difficult for her) would hold her back from pursuing a degree in [name_f]English[/name_f] Literature.

Having been named for her great-grandmother - a decision [name_f]Bibi[/name_f] jokes she can’t forgive her parents for - history is also an interest of hers, spending a lot of time having documentaries on while she’s cooking or doing chores. Bibi’s the one to tease [name_m]Leroy[/name_m] the least about his crush but in part this is because she can’t fathom her parents getting involved in her love life, something she’s eternally thankful for. She’s in a long distance relationship herself, having started dating her girlfriend when they were in their final year of high school and she opted to attend university in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]York[/name_u] after being offered a scholarship, but in spite of this they’re going strong. Bibi’s girlfriend has visited a few times and vice versa, during which time she’s endured teasing for her ‘domestic bliss’ as her relationship is affectionately referred to, and takes it on the chin - disappointingly well as some would say. She can seem a little stoic and too mellow to some people, borderline disinterested in comparison to her more gregarious roommates, but this calmness means she’s a great support and listening ear when someone else is facing a rough time.

She has no guilt about her past relationship with Bibi’s father and is grateful for the time she had with him even if it didn’t work out. [name_f]Paula[/name_f] has no regrets in life and always finds reason in everything she does in life no matter the outcome. She’s since remarried a man with a kind son, Paula’s stepson and while she wouldn’t mind if she married someone without kids, she’s glad her second husband has a son and feels she relates to him more as a divorcee parent. In addition, she is on great terms with her stepson and his true brilliance and intelligence. She’s truly not the type to pry into any possible love lives of [name_f]Bibi[/name_f] and her stepbrother unless they seem unhappy or uncomfortable and she’s grateful they’re not, which is all that matters to her. [name_f]Paula[/name_f] has a rather tragic job, she works in a pet cemetery. However she’s been very kind to those who want their pets buried, whether it’s a big furry animal or a small fish, and she’s never belittled their grief just because it’s an animal and not a person. The pet cemetery is small but sweet and there’s even memorials around the cemetery. Benches, plaques, trees, fountains, and even a wishing well dedicated to Paula’s first dog, a golden retriever who died when she was 6: “Crispy. 1967-1979. A good pup. A beloved friend”. Her current dog [name_u]Micah[/name_u] is her best friend and everyone she knows loves him but [name_f]Paula[/name_f] loves him most, because he resembled Crispy so much. She’s getting along with Bibi’s stepmother too and respects her husband for finding someone he loves and still staying family by being a great father to [name_f]Bibi[/name_f].

[name_m]Dalton[/name_m] [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] Berkstein (18) is Paula’s stepson and Bibi’s stepbrother, who’s currently in the process of preparing himself for college, with plans on majoring in computer programming. A little ironically, he and [name_f]Bibi[/name_f] have similar personalities, in a sense of being a very calm person who’s a voice of reason and reliable common sense among his friend group; as well as when he’s involved in the terror that’s called group projects. Dalton’s what he calls a ‘proud nerd’ - he loves classic gaming, comics and playing D&D - but actually has a couple friends who are in the jock circle, as his very open mind means people know he’ll never judge them.

At his school, he’s happy that social groupings are more dedicated by interests opposed to people looking down on each other, but always loyal to his friends. [name_m]Dalton[/name_m] and his best friend have known each other since kindergarten, bonding further when they were older as they’re both from blended families thanks to divorce. His best friend’s parents separated when they were 8, whereas Dalton’s mom and dad split up before he was born actually, having married on a whim and quickly regretting it.

There’s a bit more distance between them, more awkwardness than hostility, but [name_m]Dalton[/name_m] never holds it against either party, as he knows there was some upset when his dad remarried, as his mom has staunchly been against pursuing another relationship until he’s at college; a decision [name_m]Dalton[/name_m] respects, but at the same time, he’s happy his dad and [name_f]Paula[/name_f] found one another - as well as enjoying having a sister in the form of [name_f]Bibi[/name_f] become part of his life through her.

While there was some fear on Dalton’s end that he and his girlfriend would break up with university now on the horizon, they’ve remained stronger than ever, and are only going to be an hours drive apart with the school’s they’ve been accepted to. The couple have a lot of understanding and good communication - regularly confiding in one another about a whole variety of matters - which [name_m]Dalton[/name_m] hopes is going to allow them to keep going strong. [name_u]Micah[/name_u] is likewise adored by him, and he’s always happy to take the dog for a walk if Paula’s busy or just in need of some rest.

[name_u]Sidney[/name_u] is one of the star players on the school’s football team but has many other interests as well. He games with [name_m]Dalton[/name_m] a lot, enjoys reading mysteries, and is very serious about school. His dad has been pressuring him to pursue football as a career since he’s a retired quarterback. [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] doesn’t have any interest in that though and plans to study graphic designing. In contrast with Dalton’s calm personality, [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] tends to be somewhat wild and raucous. He’s just as loyal to his friends and always up to hang out.

His parents divorced when he was 8. They had both fallen out of love with each other felt it was the best choice. His mom remarried two years later and [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] now has two younger stepbrothers around his age and a half-sister eleven years his junior. They’re all very close and [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] and his brothers are extremely protective of their little sister. His dad briefly remarried a couple years ago but the marriage didn’t last long. He has a girlfriend now who doesn’t exactly like kids so between that and the pressure from his dad, [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] doesn’t see them much.

[name_u]Sidney[/name_u] is glad that [name_m]Dalton[/name_m] and his girlfriend are still going strong. He’s always thought they were great together. [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] has never been in a very serious relationship and Dalton’s girlfriend as well as another girl in their friend group speculate as to why. He doesn’t mind it and thinks it’s kind of funny. Their guesses range from his busy schedule, to his absentmindedness, to his difficulty in connecting with new people. [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] has recently found himself with a big crush on a girl in his history class. He really wants her to like him and is beyond nervous about talking to her. He fumbled it completely the first time he tried and hasn’t attempted again.

(He told her, “I know you don’t need my permission, but you can do whatever you want.”) [name_m]Even[/name_m] though her first marriage ended on fairly good terms, the experience opened up a lot of old wounds, and she worked hard to get to a healthy and happy point in her life where she loves herself and just is herself, unapologetically. She’s been told her whole life that she’s too loud, too opinioned, too much, and now she says, “Well too dang bad!”

Her stepsons and daughter have all taken music lessons (piano, violin, and cello), and it’s one of her favorite things to get all dolled up to attend the recitals. But don’t think for one second that she isn’t ready to get her hands dirty. [name_f]Margolette[/name_f] " [name_f]Margot[/name_f] " Eija Kemény (18) is someone [name_f]Serena[/name_f] has heard of quite a few times, namely as [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is the girl [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] has a crush on. A little ironically, history is Margot’s favourite subject, stemming from how it’s helped her connect more with her Hungarian ancestry. She’s known for being studious and ambitious where her future’s concerned, wanting to become a historian specialising in her great-grandparents homeland, but in spite of her drive, is otherwise a fairly quiet person who’s content keeping her head down and focusing on the task at hand. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] can unintentionally seem a little closed off because of her quietness, and she doesn’t handle unforeseen attention well, which worsened Sidney’s attempt at talking to her, as she was so blindsided she just stared at him and was only able to say ‘bye’ once he was making his retreat. Her closest friend in their shared history class is insistent he has some interest in her - she’s very socially aware, which [name_f]Margot[/name_f] credits to her hopes of becoming a psychotherapist - but [name_f]Margot[/name_f] can’t help feel a little sceptical, as she can’t really fathom why [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] would be interested in her of all people, thanks to his status and energetic personality, whereas she’s a very calm, unassuming character who’s happy fading into the background unless asked about her work.

She hasn’t had much dating experience, a combination of her shyer nature and preference to stick with the close friend circle she adores, frequently crafting them personalised jewellery/storage boxes as birthday presents, which is very much appreciated. Margot’s bisexual and had a girlfriend who attends another school in the area - who likewise is an academic - however their similarities is what led to them breaking up a year ago, as they drifted apart due being so wrapped up in their schoolwork and lives outside of being a couple. There’s no hard feelings between them, but [name_f]Margot[/name_f] does wish she had acted differently, as it’s made her less confident about trying to be with someone again, especially as one of her good friends is part of a ‘golden couple’ - renowned for their compatibility and good communication. She tends to be someone who avoids what intimidates her - see: never even considering heights thanks to how uncomfortable they make her - and this has led to dating very much falling to the wayside. Sometimes she wonders if university will allow her to find confidence in this again, or perhaps someone asking her out [but she isn’t getting her hopes up, as [name_f]Margot[/name_f] hates disappointment and takes measures to avoid setting herself up for it].

As the younger of two children, [name_f]Margot[/name_f] admits she’s felt a little saddened now her older sister’s at college and her lively, gregarious presence is missing from the house. Everyone else in the family is absolutely an introvert - especially Margot’s dad, who she’s very fond of - so her social butterfly ways were very amusing to everyone, including Margot’s sister herself, and she did her best to encourage the younger girl to pursue what made her happiest, with her outspoken nature helping give [name_f]Margot[/name_f] the push she needed. Her family own two cats - tortoiseshell [name_f]Enid[/name_f] and moggy [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] - who she absolutely adores, and frequently sends her sister photos of them as she’s very much missing them while studying at college, meaning Margot’s on update duty. It’s their mom who taught her how to craft the personalised boxes she’s known for giving others, running her own gift shop where she designs a lot of the products, and she’s always the person [name_f]Margot[/name_f] confides in about her fears, having an excellent listening ear in spite of being a very quiet woman. Margot’s friend group usually don’t plan things - it’s not their style - and can be found just relaxing in local parks together or going on impromptu trips to hotspots, granted the local amusement park is a bit precarious thanks to how [name_f]Margot[/name_f] absolutely will not get on a roller-coaster [and she’s very stubborn for a usually accomodating personality where this is concerned].

Warning for brief mentions of cancer and alcohol.

Rina Koi Laine (18) is Margot’s friend in her friend group who is part of the aforementioned ‘golden couple’. She knows Serena more given that she’s dating one of her stepsons. She’s the younger cousin of Oona Laine, which doesn’t always look apparent due to the fact that Oona is fully Black while Rina is half-Asian, having a Japanese mother. Oona is close with Rina’s mother given her love for Japan as well, which Rina admires. Rina’s mother is a two-time breast cancer survivor which has inspired Rina although she vastly hates seeing her mother miserable. Rina is Gothic and buys all her clothes at thrift shops and finds “goth shops” to be “for poseurs”. She’s perky though and enjoys not caring what others think about her. She enjoys all her friends in her friend group but has a secret - she likes Margot’s family the best! She loves talking to Margot’s family whenever they’re around and they chat for hours.

Rina is also rather stubborn in a sense and Margot understands her. Rina absolutely adores gummy candy and takes it with her. However gummy candy was banned at the school when a scandal broke that students were taking booze-filled gummy candy. While Rina can be seen as a stereotypical bad influence to some people given her Gothic life, she would never take booze gummies. The school gave students an alternative healthy gummy candy in the vending machines but after Rina searched the candy, she found it contained a bad chemical that would build up and stay in the body, especially if it was chronically consumed over a long period of life. Rina used these facts in her persuasive essay about this problem and the school listened and removed the candy. They revised the candy policy, saying students can bring candies but only from approved brands, which worked out much better for students like Rina. When Rina feels something is wrong, she’s a logical person who uses facts on her side, which she knows is all for the greater good. She lowkey wishes she had a pet owl since she shares their personality of being wise and staying up late, but she always loves her canary, Keiko.

Emery Ethan Widdowson (18), pictured with Margot’s cat Elsie, is Rina’s boyfriend and step-family member of Serena and Sidney. Belonging to the same year group, Emery and Sidney are opposite ends of the spectrum: with one being born in September (Sidney) and the other August (Emery), something that others consider odd, but it’s never phased them. While they aren’t joined at the hip, they do get along well when spending time together, although it’s debatable that Emery’s friendship with Margot furthers the gap between them, as Sidney really doesn’t want him knowing about the crush yet - as Emery absolutely would try setting them up.

When his father began dating Serena, Emery definitely found this easier to digest than his younger brother. It wasn’t as if he assumed their parents would get back together - their mother had already remarried - but accepting another step-parent was something he found hard to comprehend, as there had been a lot of arguments between him and their mothers’ husband, which Emery usually tried to deescalate as their mom’s quite easily overwhelmed. He’s never held this against her (even more so after he learned she experienced severe postpartum depression), but still won’t let needless conflict go on around him.

Like Rina, Emery’s a methodical and logical personality type, with hopes on studying chemistry at university. He doesn’t want to become a doctor, but science is absolutely what he wishes to pursue, and he’s planning on exploring his options once he’s further into specified education. Thanks to this quality, Emery’s usually the person asked by their sister whenever she’s feeling philosophical, and is always happy to indulge her questions. They share an enjoyment of biking and go out together frequently, although Emery’s hidden his plans on getting a motorbike when he’s older, as he absolutely knows she’ll want to follow him immediately into this (something his brothers’, parents and Emery himself would never forgive).

[name_u]Holland[/name_u] " [name_u]Holly[/name_u] " [name_f]Drucilla[/name_f] Faulkner-Widdowson (7) is the half-sister of [name_u]Sidney[/name_u], [name_u]Emery[/name_u], and their other brother. Despite being quite a bit younger than her brothers they’re still close. [name_u]Holland[/name_u] really loves her name because it’s connected to her brothers. Her first name is unisex like theirs while her middle is Latin like Sidney’s, means strong like Emery’s, and starts with a D like her other brother’s. [name_u]Holly[/name_u] looks up to her brothers and is always asking them questions. [name_m]Even[/name_m] when they tease her (playfully), or if they get in arguments, she still loves them.

[name_u]Holly[/name_u] is close to her parents as well and loves it when they come to her violin concerts. Aside from her love of music she enjoys dancing. She doesn’t take lessons but constantly coerces her family into dancing with her. [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] will often read some of his mystery books to her and she claims now that she wants to be a violinist and a detective. Biking with [name_u]Emery[/name_u] is another fun hobby of hers and she also enjoys exploring outside with her other brother.

[name_u]Holland[/name_u] is in second grade and has made two good friends who are kindred spirits. She likes her teacher and will be in the school play that’s being held in a month. Her whole family will be coming and she can’t wait. A lover of fairies, believer in kindred spirits, and obsessed with all things pretty and sweet, it’s no surprise that her favorite book series is [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables. She’s on the second book now and though sometimes she reads it by herself before bed, one of her parents or brothers usually reads it to her.

[name_u]Declan[/name_u] [name_m]Flint[/name_m] Widdowson (16) is Holly’s final brother and the youngest of the boys in the family. Authority is something [name_u]Declan[/name_u] has a complex relationship with: while he’s willing to accept it from certain individuals, he can be a bit of a deliberate rebel where others are concerned. His teachers have come to not be phased by it - he won’t disrupt the class or insight a riot, he just sometimes decides to ask sarcastic questions when they’re giving one-on-one feedback to amuse himself and help with the critique process - but his stepdad was someone he genuinely objected to trying to tell him what to do. The husband of he and Emery’s mom is a retired army doctor, whose disciplined and rigid structure did not go over well with the boys when they first met him, aged eight and ten respectively. [name_u]Emery[/name_u] came round quite quickly, thanks to how accommodating and amiable he is, but for [name_u]Declan[/name_u] there was almost a challenge in asserting himself, one he couldn’t back down from. He had to make it clear he wasn’t going to just accept this newfound structure, and a cold war of sorts erupted between them; a conflict that lingers on to this very day.

Part of it happened because [name_u]Declan[/name_u] suspected - not incorrectly - that his stepfather had spoken poorly of their dad. While there wasn’t animosity between their parents, he wasn’t ignorant to the fact there can be dislike from new partners to former one’s, and the fragility of his mom’s emotional state is something he feels his stepdad unfairly believes her ex-husband contributed towards [an incorrect and unfair belief, but [name_u]Declan[/name_u] sort of understands why, even if it aggravates him]. He absolutely adores his mom regardless of this - not that it ever made him antagonistic or cold towards [name_f]Serena[/name_f], it’s merely part of Declan’s world. They’re both very creatively expressive people and she’s always encouraged his enjoyment of metalwork, something that can be viewed with skepticism. More than anything, [name_u]Declan[/name_u] would love to become a sculptor, and he’s very devoted to crafting his pieces.

Sometimes he can be a bit pessimistic about his own future - given how art can be a less than reliable industry to work in - but Holly’s clearly made it her personal mission to ensure her brother never doubts himself. He’s incredibly proud of her accomplishments as a violinist and has made her a few fairies to decorate her bedroom, granted they’re paper instead of metal, as he doesn’t think that’s the wisest of ideas when it comes to safety [although [name_u]Emery[/name_u] loves to point out [name_u]Declan[/name_u] frequently ran the gauntlet while climbing trees and making impromptu obstacle courses in the back garden for them to engage in]. There’s still part of him drawn to such pastimes, as he regularly goes indoor climbing with his friends and has done a bit of parkour, but by no means does he consider himself especially talented [and no he will not demonstrate for [name_u]Emery[/name_u], in spite of how much his brother asks this of him].

Declan’s also in a relationship but it’s newer than the established one between his brother and [name_f]Rina[/name_f]. His partner’s non-binary and doesn’t attend the same school as himself, [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] and Emery; the couple having met at a local arts fair hosted in the biggest mall their town has to offer. This is something he’s been surprisingly shy about - usually being a wealth of information about the smallest of details going on in his social scene - but they’re someone he really has made a connection with, and [name_u]Declan[/name_u] doesn’t want to mess it up by dragging a lot of other people into matters. [name_f]Serena[/name_f] was actually the first person he spoke to, as she’s by far the person who won’t tease [siblings] or start with a dozen questions [his dad], and she helped him figure out the best means to express this to his family, who’ve just been introduced to his significant other - when they came round for dinner and to do some sculpting in the garage. For how obtuse [name_u]Declan[/name_u] usually is, he’s been able to hide his suspicion it may be [name_f]Margot[/name_f] who [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] has a crush on very well, but approaching his stepbrother might be difficult given Declan’s known for his firecracker nature…
