In 2010, we adopted [name_m]Felix[/name_m], via a closed adoption. [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Boaz[/name_m] was placed with us at birth, and we had the privilege of meeting him in the hospital the day he was born and taking him home with us from the hospital. He is now 9 years old and loves playing sports (baseball, soccer, and swimming) and exploring the great outdoors. [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is a great leader and loves any opportunity to work toward a good cause.

In 2011, we were selected to become the parents of [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] through a last-minute open adoption. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]'s biological parents were going through a difficult divorce at the time of his birth, and finally agreed that placing him for adoption was the best choice for everyone involved. We brought him home when he was ten days old. Although [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]'s biological mother has not been able to remain in his life, his biological father [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] has consistently maintained a relationship with [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] have an annual visit around the holidays, and [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] is always invited to [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]'s birthday parties and other celebrations in his life. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is now 7 years old and loves [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars, video games, and rock music. He is funny and laid-back and a joy to be around.

In 2013, we met the biological parents of our third son, [name_u]August[/name_u]. [name_u]August[/name_u]'s biological parents were a teenage couple seeking a semi-open adoption. Although they were not comfortable with the idea of an active relationship post-adoption, they still wanted an open line of communication. Each year, around his birthday, we send pictures of [name_u]August[/name_u] to his biological family, but there is not much contact beyond that. [name_u]August[/name_u] is now 6 years old and loves reading, creating with legos, and playing the piano. He is independent and often quiet, but never fails to pipe up with something wise or witty beyond his years.

In 2014, we met [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], who were 5 and 6 years old. They had been removed from an unstable family situation due to neglect and were both already falling behind academically. We had just been approved as foster parents and believed our adoption journey to be complete. However, we all bonded quickly with these girls, and when they became available for adoption, we knew that they were our children and that we had to make the placement permanent. [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] is now 11 years old and loves drawing, sewing, and classic muscle cars. [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] is brave and opinionated and a very loyal sister, daughter, and friend. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is now 10 years old and loves gymnastics, animals, and playing make-believe. She is sensitive and nurturing, and absolutely loves being a big sister.

2014: After seeing Li thrive, you decide to adopt another child internationally, this time from South [name_f]Africa[/name_f]. You end up being matched with a 6 year old boy named Esaia Kwanele Underwood.

2015: You decide to adopt another baby. This time, the child will not have contact with his birth family. You decide to name him [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] Underwood.

2016: You now have 12 children so you decide to take a break for at least a year.

2017: Although you were planning on taking a break from adopting children, you hear a story of a single mother named [name_f]Kate[/name_f] who would like someone to adopt her baby girl. She decides to have an open adoption of her daughter, [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] [name_f]Lila[/name_f] Underwood.

2018: You decide that 13 children is more than enough and decide not to adopt any more.

2019: For now, you are still set on stopping on 13 children, but who knows what the future holds?

Hello, we are the Harms-[name_m]Lewis[/name_m]’! I am [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and my wife is [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], and we have kids. Ten years ago we adopted our twin girls, [name_f]Anabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] from [name_f]Argentina[/name_f]. Two years later, we adopted [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], who were 7 at the time. [name_u]James[/name_u] has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and at the time, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] was falling behind in school. The next year, we adopted a baby girl from a teen mother. We have very minimal contact with [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s birth parents, but we send them photos each year of her. A year later, we adopt an 8 year old boy from foster care, [name_u]Noah[/name_u], who is falling behind in school. The next year, we adopt again from birth a baby boy, [name_u]Sterling[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. While we do not have contact with his mother, we do talk with and visit his older brothers, [name_u]Alex[/name_u] (13) and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (19). Two years later, we adopt a baby girl from birth, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f], and we have an open adoption with her father, [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]. The next year, we adopted a 9 year old girl from Germany named [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. This year, we adopted a baby girl from birth named [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and have contact with her grandparents, [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u].

So, our family consists of Myself ([name_f]Emma[/name_f]) and [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] and our 10 children; [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Anabella[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_u]Sterling[/name_u], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].

Our Adoption [name_u]Story[/name_u]

2014
After 4 years of trying to adopt, we were finally matched with our 3-month-old twin daughters, Linh [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_u]Tai[/name_u] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], and made our journey to bring to Vietnam to bring them home! They bring such joy to our lives!

2015
About a year after the girls came home, our social worker matched us with our son, [name_m]Axel[/name_m] [name_m]Harry[/name_m], in [name_m]Germany[/name_m] when he was six years old. [name_m]Axel[/name_m]'s [name_f]English[/name_f] skills developed very quickly and we learned some [name_m]German[/name_m], too!

2017
After [name_m]Axel[/name_m] settled in, we found ourselves wanting to expand our family further. Vietnam adoptions having closed, this time we tried for [name_f]China[/name_f], and two years later 6-year-old Jiang [name_m][name_u]Ezra[/name_u][/name_m] came into our lives! He has never let his limb difference stop him and we are so proud to call him our son.
