[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have an all time favorite name?? One that’s stuck around through the different phases and years, one you’ve loved since you were 8, one you’ve heard and put on your list ever since??
[name_f]Majorie[/name_f] I love the way it sounds (or at least how I pronounce it) and it’s not common at all.
I’ve loved the name [name_u]Simone[/name_u] since I was 6 (I named my first American girl doll [name_u]Simone[/name_u]) and she’s been on my list since, but never very high. The longest reigning name loves from my top 5 are [name_m]Torin[/name_m] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], both of which have been on my list since I was 13/14.
For a girl, I would say [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. It’s been on my list since I started making lists as a child. My great-grandmother was called [name_f]Helen[/name_f], and she was an incredible woman with whom I had a very special bond.
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] … As a little girl my first favorite name list was [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] (after [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_u]Drew[/name_u]), [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f], and [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]/[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mimi[/name_f]. Now my favorite name is [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f].
My taste in girl names change very often, but [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] for a boy has been a favorite of mine since around age 12.
I’ve always loved [name_f]Bethany[/name_f].
I’ve loved two names for years and years - [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u]/[name_f]Kitty[/name_f] (full name [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]).
My OH can’t get on board with either - [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] has very specific cultural connotations for him, and he just thinks of cats with [name_f]Kitty[/name_f]. And it still feels a little bit like all the other names we ever discuss are a bit of a compromise!
My all time favourites are [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f], [name_u]Jordyn[/name_u] and [name_u]Shelby[/name_u], but unfortunately I can’t use them
I have loved [name_f]Jessamy[/name_f] since the day I heard it and even named a doll this.
Sadly it’s rhymes too much with my now surname (sounds ridiculous!) so is off the table for an actual child.
“[name_m]Brom[/name_m]” for a baby boy. Stole this from Sleepy Hollow’s “[name_m]Brom[/name_m] Bones”. <3
[name_f]Liana[/name_f] was the first name I fell in love with, and I still love it
[name_f]Sibyl[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].
I love the name [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], it’s been stuck in my head for a girl since a dream in my early teens.
Sounds silly with that explanation, but hopefully my one day SO likes it too and I can feel a bit clairvoyant
The name that I’ve loved for years and years is [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], it’s been my top pick for a daughter for ages. However, the name that I think I’ve liked for the longest in terms of actual years is the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f], when I was about 5 I heard it in a movie and it was my favorite name for about the next 8 years. I still adore the name, but probably would never use it
My favourites for 5+ years were [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f], though they aren’t as high on my list as of now. My current favourite boys’ names ([name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_u]Percy[/name_u], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]) have been on my list for years though never as high. For girls’ names, my favourites have been on and off for years, but a few (i.e. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]) have stayed near-constant.
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]! Heard it from Silent [name_m]Hill[/name_m] and have loved it ever since
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] It’s been my fave for about 6 years now
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]. I’ve had a fairly consistent top 5 since I was 12, all of which were apparently ahead of my time because they were not popular in the mid-90s and have now exploded in popularity. [name_f]Emma[/name_f] has been my steady, always-beloved choice but her extraordinary popularity makes it hard for me to commit to it for a child. I think [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is just beautiful in its perfect simplicity. To my circle of family and friends, it is “my” name - everyone was surprised when we ended up with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (just as popular - go figure).
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. I’ve loved it since I was a kid. It’s been on every list of favorite names I’ve ever had. I live in the southern US & it just seems like the perfect southern name to me. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is another favorite that I’ve had for about 10 years.
