[name_f]My[/name_f] husband is Italian, I’m American and we currently live in [name_u]Rome[/name_u]. We are expecting our second baby girl in just a few weeks (older sister is [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], goes by [name_f]Bea[/name_f] pronounced Bay-ya) and we are struggling with a name.
-Our last name is “Angella” pronounced “an-GEL-la”, so baby name can’t be too rhyme-ey (ex not [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Angella[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] Angella)
-We want something that can be pronounced in [name_u]America[/name_u] (we plan to move to the states next year) and in [name_f]Italy[/name_f]
-something not TOO popular (no Sofia)
-Good sister name for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
I LOVE [name_f]Margot[/name_f] but my husband wants something with Italian roots…Aurelia?
Thank you for reading this much and for any suggestions or support in choosing [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilde[/name_f] or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_u]Marie[/name_u] or [name_u]Maria[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is a lovely name! [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is cute too and fits well with big sister and your last name. Here are some suggestions for names that are not too popular and easy to pronounce in both [name_f]English[/name_f] and Italian:
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lia[/name_f] (as a full name or NN for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] or Aurelia) - I like the idea of [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and [name_f]Lia[/name_f] as NN for two sisters!
[name_f]Giada[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariana[/name_f] (NN [name_u]Ari[/name_u] or Ana)
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] (less common than [name_u]Florence[/name_u] and it could be a tribute to the beautiful Italian city)
Thank you so much! [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is also a favorite! I have some Spanish roots as well and that name pops up a lot on my family tree…also love it’s [name_m]Roman[/name_m] ties.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’m Italian! [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is beautiful. In [name_f]Italy[/name_f] it’s mostly considered an elegant, “aristocratic/noble” type of name, so I would suggest something similar for her sister…
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] e [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] [name_f]Angella[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] e [name_f]Caterina[/name_f] [name_f]Angella[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] e [name_u]Maria[/name_u] [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] [name_f]Angella[/name_f] ( [name_u]Maria[/name_u] [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] as full name)
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] e [name_f]Matilde[/name_f] [name_f]Angella[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] ed [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Angella[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] e [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Angella[/name_f]
If you like the nn [name_f]Vivi[/name_f], I love [name_f]Vivia[/name_f] as a full name! Also brings to mind 2 other names I like: [name_f]Livia[/name_f] “Liv” or “Livi” & [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. And I forgot to add in my last post that although those names aren’t Italian, they’re all in the Italian top 50 & I think would work in [name_u]America[/name_u] too (I missed the bit where your husband wanted a name with Italian roots)
Some other ideas:
[name_f]Frida[/name_f]
[name_f]Chiara[/name_f] (maybe too popular?)
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] (Bea and [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] would be so cute!)
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f] (same as above, [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] as nickname)
[name_f]Adela[/name_f]
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] (Cinzia in Italian I believe…?)
[name_f]Miranda[/name_f] (Mira)
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Margherita[/name_f] nn [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is fine.
Instead of [name_f]Flora[/name_f], why not [name_f]Floria[/name_f]? You live in [name_u]Rome[/name_u], and [name_f]Floria[/name_f] [name_f]Tosca[/name_f] is a heroine.
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Catarina[/name_f], nn Catari or [name_f]Katia[/name_f]
[name_f]Giorgia[/name_f] or [name_f]Giorgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Giulietta[/name_f] (Juliet)
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Alba[/name_f]
Costanza
[name_f]Flavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sibella[/name_f]
[name_f]Silvana[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Floria[/name_f], [name_f]Silvana[/name_f], and [name_f]Flavia[/name_f] the best.
I love [name_u]Romilly[/name_u], [name_f]Fiorenza[/name_f], or [name_f]Julia[/name_f] for you! Is the last name pronounced with a hard or soft g sound?
