can i just for a moment talk about how much i love the name zipporah? first of all, it’s beautiful, biblical, and has so[name_f][/name_f] many fun sounds—my maiden name also starts with a z, and thanks to @lateaugust[name_f][/name_f] i’ve fallen more in love with the idea of using a z name in honor of that.
[name_f][/name_f]
zipporah also carries the meaning “bird”, which is pretty special for this little one. before my husband and i conceived, we often saw signs of our coming rainbow baby in birds— especially rose finches.
[name_f][/name_f]
and, it might just be me, but i think she would wear well on a free-spirited little cowgirl
[name_f][/name_f]
now, for the part where you all can help me…
[name_f][/name_f]
what are your thoughts on zipporah?
[name_f][/name_f]
does it pair well with the other names we’ve chosen— judah and shepherd, as well as our angel baby, willa?
[name_f][/name_f]
also, i’ve been adoring the combinations zipporah ruth, zipporah elouise, and zipporah may, but i’d love a few more ideas! we tend to opt for rare biblical or nature names in the middle, but love a classic name as well!
I absolutely adore the name [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f]. I think that it is one of the most beautiful names in existence!
[name_f][/name_f]
However, although I have absolutely no authority to speak on the subject, I personally have left it off of my list because I am not Jewish and I think that this one crosses into cultural appropriation. It’s not a name like [name_m]Levi[/name_m] or [name_m]David[/name_m], which are Hebrew but have been integrated into Christian/secular culture, and that gives me a pause.
[name_f][/name_f]
Again, though, I am not Jewish and therefore my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt. It is a gorgeous, gorgeous name that works especially well with [name_m]Judah[/name_m] and [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f]
Perhaps it’s more suitable for a middle name? Something like [name_f]Valley[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] would be divine.
[name_f][/name_f]
If it’s alright, might I suggest [name_f]Avis[/name_f] or [name_m]Pipit[/name_m]?
I have always adored Zipporah (although I slightly prefer Tzipporah)!! It’s so … zippy (lol) and lightly regal feeling. It’s just a gorgeous name!
It feels like a very different style than Judah and Shepherd, but at the same time I think it still works since they’re all biblical. Willa is does feel quite different from.
Zipporah Elouise is pretty!
These might be a little outside your style, but off the top of my head…
Zipporah Bluebell
Zipporah Moon
Zipporah Merritt
Zipporah Cosette
Zipporah Cleo
Zipporah Honey
Zipporah Dulcie
Zipporah Lucille
Zipporah Rosemary
While Zipporah isn’t my style, I think it’s an intriguing, creative, biblical choice for a girl! It doesn’t seem to fit the exact vibes of Judah and Shepherd (in my opinion) as they seem more chill/laidback while Zipporah is spunky and unique. I think it could make an even better middle name though-I actually quite like the flow of Luella Zipporah-it’s sweet and unexpected!
(We’re doing the musical “Prince of Egypt” right now- she’s the female lead- and they spell the name Tzipporah!)
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f], she is so lovely and (imo) fits your names perfectly!! I also love how she pairs with some of your rarer names like Emmaus!!
[name_f][/name_f]
She may be a bit out there for you, but I love the thought of [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] Bluebird (redundant as she may be )
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Zippy[/name_f] is also so sweet and cute!!
[name_f][/name_f]
More MN ideas:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] Willowglen / [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Willodean[/name_f] (Thought these could be a unique way to honor Willa) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_m]Arbor[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Breeze[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Fig[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_m]Clove[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Tansy[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Dove[/name_f] (again redundant but so cute!!) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Maple[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Wildrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is gorgeous! I love her meaning, especially with how significant it is for you, and her fresh, spunky sound. She fits well with all your other names (I ADORE [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] & [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] together [name_f][/name_f] ), but not to the point of being too matchy. [name_f][/name_f]From your middle name ideas so far, I’m really loving [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]. A few other ideas…
I am obsessed[name_f][/name_f] with [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] for you!!! She’s a little boho, a little rustic, and just the right amount of clunky and biblical. I love the subtle connection to your maiden name too. Plus, [name_m]Shepard[/name_m] and [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] are perfection together!!!
[name_f][/name_f]
I love your ideas of [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]! I would add:
oh, my husband will love this! promise is the name of the road he grew up on— and his family farm! i also adore zipporah sunday. this little one is due on a sunday… so that would be a really sweet connection.
I looove this thought, zipporah is absolutely beautiful and I think works wonders with the other names you have chosen. It for sure also gives off a free spirited little cowgirl vibe too, i love that there is both a reverence and a firey-ness to it. I knew a child named “Sephora” but pronounced “Seff-ra” which was in honor of zipporah. Though I like the traditional name best I think! It fit her so well as a little girl and still as shes grown up. [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] Rose-something comes to mind because you said you saw many rose finch’s while waiting for her [name_f][/name_f]Maybe [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemund[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]Well, you get the idea. Along with a slew of other middle names, I feel like this name does surprisingly well at molding to any middle names that mught stand out to you.
i adore[name_f][/name_f] the idea of a rose name. i think zipporah primrose is my favorite of those you mentioned— those p’s just make it flow so nicely!
[name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is such a cool name! I love the idea of the nickname [name_f]Zippy[/name_f] on a little girl, it feels both tomboy and posh at the same time if that makes sense. Could also use [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a nickname as a stretch
[name_f][/name_f]
I think it pairs well with [name_m]Judah[/name_m] and [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] as being biblical but on trend
[name_f][/name_f]
I love [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] from your list!
