I know no one else is here yet, [name_f][/name_f] but being sick while pregnant sucks! [name_f]My[/name_f] throat is so swollen and sore and though my temperature is not high (thank goodness), I still have chills and body aches. And I have to wait one more hour before i can take another dose of medication, which I also try to avoid as much as i can, [name_f][/name_f] but this time I’m worried I’ll spike a fever if I don’t! I might go in to urgent care tomorrow to check for strep.

Thank you! I feel like I’m being a baby complaining. But it’s just one more thing. This pregnancy has been anything but smooth, and I’ve only known for two weeks! Between my three yr old breaking her arm, [name_f][/name_f] then knocking out her front teeth, [name_f][/name_f] and worrying about xrays hurting the baby before I knew I was pregnant and now this! I’m ready for some good news.

[name_f][/name_f]

I’m 90% certain I have strep. [name_f][/name_f] And now my temperatures climbing up, [name_f][/name_f] which always makes me nervous in early pregnancy. Luckily the Dr opens in an hour and I’ll go get some antibiotics.

Sorry for complaining. But I’m just ready for a break!

So i ended up in the ER with a temperature of 102/103. Luckily we were able to get it back down; [name_f][/name_f] but having such a high fever this early in pregnancy is a little scary. The Dr reassured me that the odds are still in my favor for having a healthy pregnancy and baby, [name_f][/name_f] especially since it was treated promptly. He said in this case its probably best to alternate between ibuprofen and Tylenol every 3 hours until my fever breaks. [name_f][/name_f] That the risk of the fever outweighs the risk of the ibuprofen, especially when taken for a short period of time. [name_m]Just[/name_m] to make sure it doesn’t spike again.

@LibelluleClaire[name_f][/name_f] Don’t apologise. Everyone needs to vent. You’ve had a lot happen. I’m sorry things are hard. It’s good that you’ve been seen and received reassuring news that things should be fine despite the fever. I hope the pain meds help and you feel better soon. :heartpulse::people_hugging:[name_f][/name_f] xx

Officially had my first scan! Baby is measuring great with a heart rate of 178. Official due date is Nov. 11. And we qualify for the nipt test this time around, so we’ll get to find out baby’s gender next appt

Well I guess I belong on here, baring any bad news down the road! Still can’t quite wrap my head around it. I think my due date will be roughly [name_f]December[/name_f] 14th or 15th. I have my first ultrasound on [name_f]April[/name_f] 28th so that will give a good indication of where things are at. I have also been thinking if I want to do the NIPT this time around. We didn’t with my son (who is now 12 months old), but especially juggling a second I think knowing in advance of any issues would be good.

@LibelluleClaire[name_f][/name_f] sorry this hasn’t been a smooth pregnancy for you, I hope you’re past the worst of it. It’s still quite early for me but it has been okay, on and off nausea but I can manage that. The waves of exhaustion are harder, especially with a 12 month old who wants to sleep with me and nurse all night. I’m going to have to find some solution to that in the next few months.

Im so glad to have someone else join!

Ive definitely gotten over the worst of it (knock on wood). And baby looked good and was actually measuring a week ahead on the scan so it was definitely reassuring.

The exhaustion is definitely the worst! We’re out of the baby stage with our girls and they’re pretty good at sleeping in their own room. But I remember being pregnant with my second and it was rough. I either didnt realize with my first pregnancy how tired I was because I got to rest, or because I didnt get to rest with my 2nd I was way more tired!

And even with my kids sleeping through the night I have not had the energy to keep up. Im ashamed to say my 3 year old has gotten a lot of screen time the past few months between her broken arm and teeth and my pregnancy. But I keep reminding myself that she’s happy, safe and hasnt rebroken her arm (which is a big win for us, since she’s not supposed to rough house for the next 3 weeks and she is a daredevil of a wild child) and that this phase is just temporary!

Your scan is coming up so soon! That’s so exciting!

It’s okay to be in survival mode sometimes. I felt similarly recently when we were all sick at the same time. The TV was always on and I hated it, but my sick brain just didn’t have the energy to entertain a baby all day!

[name_f][/name_f]

I’m glad baby is looking good and growing well! :growing_heart:

Yep that’s definitely where we’ve been. I keep reminding myself it’s OK if i can’t do everything I usually do, and as long as my babies are happy and safe it’s all good.

We’re going to to tell the girls on [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], we’ve got a special easter basket with ‘big sister’ bracelets and things like that, Im pretty excited [name_f][/name_f] Plus I think it’ll be a little easier once everyone knows why I’m so tired and cranky

@xxMeghan[name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Welcome[/name_m]! Im so excited to have more people! And our due dates are super similar, Im due on the 11th.

That’s such a cute way to tell them! I hope it goes well and they’re exciting. Haha, I remember that feeling - I was a bit of a grump in my first trimester, especially when stressed at work… one of my bosses guessed I was pregnant because of my mood and constant yawning! :joy:

[name_f]My[/name_f] dad has a sixth sense when it comes to my pregnancies. [name_f][/name_f] He has guessed everytime, i thought we had finally kept it secret this time and but when we told him his response was ‘oh yeah i thought so, congratulations!’

[name_f][/name_f]

The girls were happy when we told them but its definitely been a slow burn, we’re just letting them slowly ask questions and answer them as they come. [name_f][/name_f] They will randomly through out the day come up and touch my belly, [name_f][/name_f] or ask me if the baby is still there is pretty cute. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]My[/name_f] youngest is most excited to be a ‘big’ sister now

Oh over a week ago now we had our first ultrasound which showed one baby measuring 7+3 (a little ahead of what I think it “should” have been, but the resolution of the ultrasound seemed poor) with a heartbeat of 155. So first hurdle crossed and everything looked okay. I actually have had less nausea, but that did also start to fade I think earlier than usual with my son as well, although a bit later than this. So I guess we will just assume everything is okay unless we hear otherwise! I have been trying to figure out what my cost would be if we did the NIPT screening vs a more limited option, and I can’t get a straight answer from anyone. And there is a pretty tight gestational window for the other testing, so I don’t know if we would be able to do that as a backup if the estimate for the NIPT is high. I like the idea of having more info about any potential issues earlier, and the NIPT is more accurate than the other option as well.

[name_f]My[/name_f] 13-month-old (in a couple days), as much as I adore him, is driving me up the wall a little. [name_f]Every[/name_f] evening after daycare he is just fussy and upset and unsatisfied all the way to bedtime. I don’t know if it is a transition thing (he loves daycare, he is super social) or if it is because he has two molars coming in, or just purely developmental but it is just not a very pleasant time honestly. He does better on weekends, but he prefers we be out and about and doing new things all weekend, he doesn’t really seem to enjoy spending much time at home. He also just got really good at walking so I think he really just wants to explore that all the time. And he still mostly only sleeps if it is with me and he can nurse 4-8 times a night, so I am buring the candle at both ends right now. Ahg. This too will pass.

We just had our second appointment, [name_f][/name_f] baby was being uncooperative with the doppler (they were moving so much you could hear it) but eventually we found the heart beat 153 bpm.

[name_f][/name_f]

We also opted tobget nipt testing done this time, so now we have to wait for those results. This will be our first pregnancy doing nipt as Im now 36.
