They have released the new covid and flu shot, although it may depend what state you are in how easy or not it would be to get. [name_f]Or[/name_f] even where you try to go. The pharmacy I normally go to has a statement that they won’t be giving the new covid shot until after the vaccine advisory committee meets in a couple weeks, but CVS does have it available and all you have to do is self attest that you meet one of the risk factors (which is the existing CDC list that is pretty broad and includes pregnancy, as well as things like “sedentary lifestyle” or “BMI of 25 or above”). I sent my OB a message today asking for her advice, but I think I am just going to go get those two shots in the next couple weeks before that advisory meeting. I can’t remember when I get my Tdap shot but my doctor was not at all worried about me being able to get that one, and I am not far enough along to get the RSV vaccine yet.
From what I gather our state is one of the harder ones to get it (so far [name_m]Ive[/name_m] been told they are following cdc guidelines). I have my Dr’s appointment on [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and plan on talking to them about it.
[name_f]My[/name_f] doctor said if I can get the shot to go for it, so I have that scheduled for [name_m]Friday[/name_m]. Fingers crossed nothing happens between now and then…
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]My[/name_f] next appointment is next week and it is the dreaded glucose test. [name_f]My[/name_f] results were fine last time but man I don’t enjoy drinking that. I often get a bit anxious and nauseous to begin with at the doctor, so this just adds to it. I have no reason to feel that way generally, just that back of your mind worry something will be wrong.
We got all our vaccines! For me this is such a relief and anxiety reducer. I have been so nervous this whole time we wouldn’t be able to get them. We did end up paying out of pocket but for me it was worth it for the anxiety relief!
I’m officially at the stage where I feel huge. Sneezing, coughing, laughing, anything like that feels like I might just push her out as she is sooo low. And she’s still a lazy baby she kicks and moves just enough to let me know she’s OK but spends most of the time sleeping.

[name_f]Posy[/name_f] was like this! I had to stop myself panicking on so many occasions. At my appointments, they’d be like “have you felt the baby moving this morning?” and my response was always “no, but that’s our normal”. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have a super active baby! 
[name_f]My[/name_f] 2nd was super active, non stop movement 24/7 And she still is (she just spent the last hour singing me every song she knows with her own choreographed movements as we waited for her preschool to start)
[name_f][/name_f]But this little miss is chill, [name_f][/name_f] she just hangs out most of the time. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is hoping it’s an indication she’ll be a chill baby. [name_f]My[/name_f] Dr’s keep telling me that the movements will pick up, but they’ve been saying that for a month now and it hasnt happened. And she seems to have a somewhat regular pattern of alternating busy week and lazy week.
I also feel like this baby is more chill than my first, who is generally not a chill human being. I also hope it will mean baby is a bit more laid back than my first son…but we will see. I also feel like my first son strongly preferred to face out and kick towards my belly, while this one seems to prefer to face back and kick towards my spine. So interesting to try to guess who they will be while they’re on the inside, especially once you have kids and you’re comparing. [name_f]My[/name_f] son is a super chatty toddler (today all of a sudden he revealed that he has a pretty decent grasp of colors at 17 months? Never has mentioned a word about colors until this evening when he decided to label the color of all his blocks…), will this baby also? [name_f]My[/name_f] son loves the slide and has always disliked swings, will this baby be the same? I feel like I just as much expect him to look and act just like my first son as I expect him to look and act completely different. I will say I still totally expect this baby to be dark-haired even though my son shocked us by having solidly brown hair (my husband and I have dark hair, as do the majority of our families).

He has a checkup in [name_m]November[/name_m] and I am hoping it will be available by then, it seems like as long as his doctor signs off he should be able to get it. I also planned to get my RSV vaccine at my next appointment, but I just learned if you got it in a previous pregnancy they say you shouldn’t get it again! [name_f]Or[/name_f] really just lack of data to recommend it. [name_f]My[/name_f] doctor knows I want it and has never mentioned this, so I think I am just going to stay quiet and see. I know in the UK the NHS recommends it with each pregnancy, so I don’t think there is any reason to think there would be any harm. If I can’t get it I think the baby should be able to get the monoclonal antibodies, but with a toddler sibling I will only feel comfortable if he literally gets them on like the day of birth before ever even leaving the hospital.

@Beort12 isn’t it amazing what they pick up? I worked really hard with my 1st to make sure she knew all her letters, numbers sounds, shapes etc before kinder. And I felt guilty as I wasn’t in a situation to do that for my 2nd, well we just did a preschool evaluation and it turns out not only does she know all of that, but she can also pretty much read!
Seeing the differences in personality in my 1st two makes and knowing their ‘personalities’ in the womb, I think that is what I am most excited for this time around. Seeing her personality, seeing what traits she’ll share with her big sisters and what will be just hers. Like both of our girls have the exact same eye color, but our youngest has brown hair and our oldest is blonde etc.
As for the covid vaccines we were told that they were only available for kids if you had private insurance, but when we offered to pay out of pocket they allowed us to sign a waiver and the girls to get them.
And I was told the same thing for the rsv vaccine (it came out after my girls were born so I was able to get it this time) but my ob actually recommended the one they give to the baby, he said it actually provided longer protection, and I think our hospital does offer it at birth, so that might be an option? I haven’t looked into it too much though.
@_thelittlefairywren we have our fingers crossed! I wouldn’t say our first was a hard baby temperament wise, but she had some minor medical issues that made her super uncomfortable for the 1st year of her life, and our 2nd was a little spit fire from day 1, so though we love her already, if she was laid back baby that would be amazing!

@Beort12[name_f][/name_f] if you were curious, I was looking up the rsv vaccine info (because I was curious.) And you’re right the reason the cdc doesn’t recommend subsequent rsv vaccine in pregnancy is because of lack of info, mainly on whether or not it is as effective in subsequent pregnancies and in the US we have access to alternate options that have been shown to be effective.
[name_f][/name_f]And the reason the uk does recommend repeat vaccination is because up until this september they have not had access to the infant monoclonal shot, so to err on the side of caution it was better for mothers to get the vaccine even if it may be less effective (but starting this past month they have began offering it to preemie and high risk babies.)
[name_f][/name_f]It doesn’t seem to pose any danger to the baby to get a repeat shot, they just aren’t sure if it’s as effective, where as they know the infant monoclonal shot is effective, so to err on the side of caution in the US they dont recommend a repeat maternal vaccine and instead recommend the infant shot… (You probably already knew this, but I just was just curious and thought Id share)
@LibelluleClaire[name_f][/name_f] I’m not concerned about my or the baby’s safety in terms of getting the RSV shot again, but that is a good point about unknown efficacy of repeating this vaccine. With a toddler sibling my primary concern is immediate access, though, which is the advantage of the maternal shot. I don’t know if the monoclonal antibody would be available to get in the hospital before discharge, but honestly I don’t want baby meeting my toddler until he has had it. I’ll talk to my OB about it at my next appointment, I know a couple years ago supply of the monoclonal antibody was an issue and I don’t know if that has since resolved or not. I have heard the monoclonal antibody may have slightly longer term impacts, but I know both are extremely protective for the first 3 months or so, which is when the worst of illness season is so that is my primary concern.
I completely understand. Having my kids in school and bringing illness home is my biggest concern right now.
[name_f][/name_f]And fwiw when I got my rsv vaccine the nurse who gave it, made sure to warn me that I will need to tell the hospital when I deliver that I got the maternal vaccine so they don’t give the baby the monoclonal one. It gave me the impression that, at least here, the rsv vaccine would be offered in the hospital before going home. So fingers crossed you’ll be able to get some protection for baby before you get home! Because I totally understand the worry and would feel the exact same way.
Well I was definitely having some contractions this morning and Im having a lot of pressure and discomfort and nausea, so idk if we’re going to make it to [name_f]November[/name_f]. 
[name_f][/name_f] But Im really really hoping that she stays in until at least the first week of november, I have so much I have to get done these next two weeks! Then everything will be complete and we will be golden.

This time around I think I am definitely feel more stressed about the idea of going early rather than late. As long as it is no earlier than the second week in [name_f]December[/name_f] I’ll be okay.
[name_f][/name_f]I had a dream last night that I was at the hospital but things weren’t really progressing so I asked if I could just go home.
[name_f][/name_f]I wasn’t able to get the RSV vaccine, but at least the monoclonal antibodies are in good supply now. However, I talked to our pediatrician and it seems like here they do it in office, not at the hospital. She said usually within the first week or two. I still want is as soon as possible so I am going to definitely be asking at the hospital and if not trying to get into the pediatrician asap. With my first we only were at the hospital one day so they wanted us to visit the pediatrician on his second day, so hopefully I can get us in again that fast this time.
[name_f]My[/name_f] due date is Nov. 11, so Im 4 weeks early currently, and although I know she’d be fine if she came now I would like her to at least be early or full term. However a lot of the symptoms I feel have calmed and I only had one painful contraction today so Im cautiously optimistic we’ll make it to [name_f]November[/name_f].

We keep debating on whether we’ll let our girls stay home for a couple days after baby gets home, or if we’ll keep them in school. (Of course it kind of depends on when she comes and what help we have available.)
[name_m]Just[/name_m] got back from the Dr. I’m 2 or 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced. He said I wont make it to my due date (my ‘official’ due date is the 17th, but I ovulated early and baby has been measuring larger then any of my others), but he said I may make it to [name_f]November[/name_f]. So here’s to hoping!
[name_f]November[/name_f] feels right around the corner! Sounds like the 17th definitely isn’t going to happen, but maybe not very close to the 11th either….good luck!!
[name_f][/name_f]This time my ovulation/due date math is going the opposite way. [name_f]My[/name_f] official due date by LMP is [name_f]December[/name_f] 9th, but given there was only one single event in the plausible timeframe I know my “real” due date can’t be before [name_f]December[/name_f] 14. However, I do think baby implanted super quickly (I was having 5 day luteal phases PP and got a strong positive on something like 10/11 DPO) and he has always measured a few days ahead, so I actually think the 9th ended up being a pretty good guess. I am hoping baby doesn’t arrive before that second week in [name_f]December[/name_f], ideally between the 8-12th.
[name_f][/name_f]I’m not sure…it will also definitely depend on when baby arrives. [name_f]My[/name_f] instinct is that we probably will keep sending him to keep him in his routine, but who knows. If my MIL is able to be here maybe we will keep him home a few days. And frankly in [name_f]December[/name_f] odds are good he’ll be sick and have to stay home! I do think his personality is going to lend itself to a bit of a challenging transition. He is very social and really likes to be the center of attention, and I’ve noticed that lately he will “act out”, just pushing boundaries even more than the normal toddler amount, if people are over and he has an audience. So I think having less time and attention from mom and dad will be very hard for him, although if my MIL can be here I do think that will help a lot to fill his cup.
[name_f][/name_f]I have had a rough couple weeks. I have been sick for almost two weeks with what I believe has been 3 overlapping illnesses. It started with a run of the mill cold with some coughing and congestion, then I think I got another somewhat worse viral respiratory illness (which turned into a sinus infection that was so painful I couldn’t sleep one night), and then I think I picked up a stomach bug on top of it all. I think the worst of the stomach bug has passed but the virus is still hanging around. I actually decided to stay home from work today which I try hard not to do (just to save my days) because I spent most of the night pacing because my stomach was cramping so badly. I weighed myself today and I’ve lost almost 4 pounds in a week and a half. I don’t think it is enough to be concerned, and the baby seems fine, but man I have been struggling. Oh and the back pain is not going away, and an appointment with PT and some exercises hasn’t really done anything so this is probably sticking around until delivery at least 
[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] Okay, gripe over. Definitely feeling a little bad for myself right now!
I think at the later stages of pregnancy you are absolutely allowed to complain. Its already uncomfortable and then to add any other illness or even mild inconvenience on top of it makes it so much worse!

All the things we had to get done have been done, we even got our christmas decorations up yeaterday because I know I will not have the energy to that once babies here. Now we’re just waiting. We had another appointment friday and not much has progressed, but thats typical for my pregnancies. But I expect baby will probably be here in the next 2 weeks. Which is crazy.
