Boy name 'Wren'

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I both really like [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for our baby boy. I’m just concerned people will think its a girl name. What are your thoughts? We have also never actually heard this name before, just in the movies. Thank you for your thoughts.

I think it’s lovely. It seems perfectly unisex to me!
If you’re still unsure, you could also use a longer name with the nickname [name_u]Wren[/name_u]/Ren, like [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] or [name_m]Ruben[/name_m], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], etc. But like I said, I think it’s great on a boy!

A friend of mine has a younger brother named [name_u]Wren[/name_u], though it’s short for [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]. I think it wears very well on a boy!

Ren would sound the same but be more boy looking.

Thank you, that makes me feel better about it

Ok thanks, I wondered that too.

For a boy I prefer [name_u]Ren[/name_u]! But I like it!

I don’t think it’s too commonly heard outside of naming websites for most people to have a specific gender tied to it. I think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is so soft and sweet and lovely!

I think it would work, since [name_u]Wren[/name_u] isn’t very popular for girls either.

Wren feels unisex to me

Thank you,

Aww, I love [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for a boy! I say go for it

Awe, Thanks!

Love the name [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. It was on shortlist for our daughter. I have to say personally I see it as a girls name but it is a unisex name. If say if you love it go for it!

Before meeting the child I would assume that [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is a girl, and [name_u]Ren[/name_u], a boy.

I think it’s a lovely name for either sex. Nothing objectively “feminine” about the sound, but it is more common for girls.

For me, that makes me love it even more on a boy — it feels extra fun and fresh and quirky! But if you think it would bother you to have people sometimes assume girl on reading the name out of context, [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is a good alternative suggestion.

I’m team [name_u]Wren[/name_u] though! [name_m]Sir[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is an eminent male namesake :bird:

Thank you,

I think it works for a boy. It definitely seems unisex to me.

I much prefer it on a boy. And of course, it will sound like [name_u]Ren[/name_u] which is to me definitely male.

I do tie [name_u]Wren[/name_u] to females, however the same could be said for a lot of names! For example, I picture [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] on a boy whereas most people would tie it to a girl. I think names that Nameberry has labelled in green are just that- truly unisex!

I agree with [name_f]Katinka[/name_f] that [name_u]Wren[/name_u] does feel unexpected and fun on a boy! I like it, and if it’s your favourite name, 100% go for it! I’d be thrilled to meet a baby boy [name_u]Wren[/name_u].
