What does everyone think of the name [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] for a girl? I like it but would be more inclined to spell it [name_u]Camryn[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband disagrees and says they will spend there whole time correcting people. I do agree but don’t want it to seem too masculine. Thank
You!
I think it’s usable on a girl, and I don’t think you need to spell it differently to make it feminine.
I think [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] is quite unisex. I’m on your husband’s side here, hanging an ‘‘o’’ to a ‘‘y’’ doesn’t make it any more ‘‘girly’’, just harder to spell.
In all honesty, the name is a bit dated to the 2000s to me, but [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] definitely feels fresher than [name_u]Camryn[/name_u]!
I’m not a fan, but if you did it I prefer the original [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] spelling. How about [name_u]Campbell[/name_u], [name_f]Cambrie[/name_f], [name_u]Camille[/name_u], or [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]?
My niece is named [name_u]Kamryn[/name_u], so I tend to think girl first before boy. But for me, [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] is very solidly unisex and can work on either girl or boy. I do think [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] is a more feminine spelling, though, for sure.
I know a [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] and I think that spelling reads girl, so if someone only sees the name on paper I think it is quite clear that [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] is a female. I personally prefer knowing before I return a call, walk into an office, etc.
I love [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] on a girl. I wouldn’t spell it any differently. I think [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] [name_u]Diaz[/name_u] really put it on everyone’s radar as a feminine name with the traditional spelling. [name_f]My[/name_f] fave combo is [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] [name_f]Raphaela[/name_f]
I love [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] on a girl! Makes me think of [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] [name_u]Diaz[/name_u] or [name_u]Cameran[/name_u] from the show [name_u]Southern[/name_u] Charm. I prefer classic spellings as it’s just easier on the child! Maybe pair with an overtly feminine middle name?
I have always loved [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] on a girl!!!
I like [name_u]Camryn[/name_u]! I think its a cuter spelling for a girl. Reminds me of [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f].
Cameron is one of those names that you’ll have to spell no matter what, especially on a girl. I’ve known [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], [name_u]Kameron[/name_u], Kamrynn, [name_u]Camryn[/name_u], and probably others. I think there are very few names that won’t see misspellings at some point though. Go with the spelling you love!
I agree with @SparkleNinja18 about the spelling situation. I don’t think spelling it [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] will necessarily save her from having to spell her name or correct someone because there are many different [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]/Camryn etc. spellings. So that being said, I think you should go with the spelling you like the best. I agree with others that [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] is unisex - [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] [name_u]Diaz[/name_u] is a great example - but [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] is also well used ([name_u]Camryn[/name_u] Manheim comes to mind, so does [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] Grimes, though she’s probably less known). So I would avoid going with a spelling just because I think it looks more girly, but instead with whichever spelling I actually liked the best.
Personally, I like the [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] spelling because that’s how I phonetically say the name, regardless of if it’s spelled [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] or [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]. I like the look of it and like @hellobanjo said, it does remind me of [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f], which is also my favorite spelling of that name too lol
I know of a teen (girl) named [name_u]Cameron[/name_u]. I think she goes by [name_u]Cam[/name_u]. I think either spelling is fine.
I agree!
I prefer [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] spelling wise I think this spelling is very visually attractive and looks more put together I don’t think adding random ‘y’ makes a name more feminine. I prefer [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] for a boy but I think the name also works for girls too.
I think it can work fine on a female. For a girl, I prefer [name_f]Cameo[/name_f] or [name_f]Cambria[/name_f], but it seems fine.
I like things spelled like [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], definitely not [name_u]Camryn[/name_u].
Cameron feels unisex to me! It has a strong yet soft feel
I like [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] for a girl! I have [name_u]Kamryn[/name_u] on my own list due to a personal association It’s sweet!!
The [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] I’ve known best was male (sibling’s close friend) so my first instinct is boy, but then I think of a TV character who was female. Both spelled [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], I’m only a fan of that spelling personally. I think overall the name with the original spelling is fairly unisex. Totally usable for all genders.
I like [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] on a girl but I also like [name_u]Camryn[/name_u]! I pronounce them slightly differently, though, I do pronounce the third syllable in [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] although I know some people don’t.
