I will have to try this once I get my email address sorted. Unable to change my email right now and I would rather have an avatar/email that’s separate from everything else as I use a different name on here than in real life. Thanks for suggesting it!!

I ended up giving it a go anyway with my current email. I’ve made the gravatar account and set the picture but I don’t see any way to connect it to here or add it in my settings
I’m wondering if you maybe have to already have it set up before you make your account?
From what I’ve read (and take this with a grain of salt as I’ve never actually used it), it’s supposed to reset your profile picture every time you sign in… are you always logged in on Nameberry? Because if so, you could try intentionally signing out and then in again.

I have logged out and back in a couple times and no change.. I have used Gravatar before with Wordpress but there’s a specific button you click to allow your Gravatar on the site in the profile picture section (where alternatively you can upload your own). So I was wondering if when we go to change our profile pictures (you can still navigate to this part just not browse to add a new photo) if that is where the Gravatar setting would be if enabeld?
I will leave it set up and keep an eye in case there’s some kind of delay or something! If I randomly have a profile pic then it works haha

This is a very poorly designed forum. I still have my avatar from ages ago, but I’ve never seen a forum that doesn’t allow avatars or signatures. It sometimes feels that Nameberry goes out of its way to make user experience as poor as possible. This site is unusable without an ad blocker. Seeing the decline in this site over the years has been very sad. Also, I’ve never seen this fabled lounge area I see some users mention, so I must be blocked from accessing it.

i don’t think you’re blocked from the lounge, it’s just locked behind a trust level! 
i can’t speak to the rest of your message, but the team had mentioned there are some changes coming to the forum, though i’m not sure what the status of that is

Yes! I’d love an update on the changes, if that’s possible.
And @southern.maple the team mentioned recently that they’ve integrated no-ads onto the forums, although I’m not sure that’s the same for the actual database. I haven’t had ads recently, and I’ve never used an ad blocker, so that update seems to be working for me! I think the profile picture thing had something to do with the no image rule that was implemented, unfortunately.
I will say, though, I wasn’t around for signatures, but I do love the option of having a user card (and actually like that it’s a bit out of the way, as it keeps the forums easy to read!).

I’ve not had any ads for ages either!
I do agree about signatures and profile pictures though. People have been asking for a long time now, especially for profile pictures, and we’ve not really had an update.
It is getting quite confusing when everyone has the same profile pic i.e. a letter in a circle. Multiple users have an A in a yellow/orange circle for example, and I’ve seen several people with the same one as me. Sometimes I’m like “I don’t remember writing that…”

There is definitely still a giant ad for the Nameberry app on every page. It is obnoxious. Even my ad blocker does not get rid of it.
And the “trust level” concept explains why I have never had access to the lounge. I am not here to gain points like I’m playing a video game.

Same here! I don’t have a profile picture currently.
I have seen a new account (joined in June) which has a profile picture, but they didn’t reply when I asked them how they set it.

They’ve definitely been on the rise lately - I’ve seen at least seven in the last two months, not counting two who are clearly bots/advertisements. I don’t know if it’s the Gravatar thing or something else? Some of them have quite unusual usernames to be associated with their email address for every account (though I guess if they’re one of several emails?)…

I wonder if we could get an update from someone on the team who is more involved? I know they work really hard in the background, but I think it would probably help if we could find out whether it’s something that they’re looking into or whether it’s final? If we’re never getting profile pics back, I’d love to just know so I can stop thinking about it! I don’t want to come across like I’m constantly asking if it’s already been decided that it’s not coming back
(I really hope we can get them back, though! [name_m]The[/name_m] forums feel a bit impersonal now everyone is just a letter)

I believe our forum admin did say it was not a priority to bring them back. I assume if that ever changes they will make an acutal update for it. Comment here suggests those on the forum side have advocated for it but that the site admins have no intentions at this point of bringing profile pics back
