Childhood Name Loves šŸŒ·

It is a late night in the middle of the week, so of course a random question about names popped into my head and wonā€™t leave, so Iā€™ve decided to ask the Berries!
What were your guysā€™ childhood/teenage/young adult top baby name loves, and what name did you actually end up picking for your child(ren)? And if you donā€™t have kids, feel free to say your childhood name loves vs what names you think youā€™ll actually use!

Bonus Question - Would younger you ever have thought that you wouldā€™ve picked the name(s) that you did?

I love this question! When I was younger I was in love with the name [name_f]Selena[/name_f] & then as a teenager I was set on naming my daughter [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. I still think both names are nice but far from my style now! Most likely our future daughter will be named [name_f]Winslet[/name_f]!

For a boy the name I loved was [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] well into adulthood, now I feel like it changes often! [name_f]My[/name_f] current favorite is [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] nn [name_m]Hank[/name_m]!

[name_f]My[/name_f] top 3 favorites growing up were [name_f]Krystal[/name_f], [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] - all 3 names are still on my list! No babies yet, and I have a very long list so the reality of using any of the 3 when I actually get pregnant is somewhat low. Out of the 3 [name_u]Evan[/name_u] is my top favorite and Iā€™d love to use it if I can, [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is still somewhat up there but I have a lot of other boy names I prefer, and [name_f]Krystal[/name_f] has fallen out of favor but I still like it enough to keep it on my list; I freshened it up with nn [name_u]Tully[/name_u] and that makes me enjoy it even more!

Girls: [name_f]Venus[/name_f] & [name_f]Alexa[/name_f]- I wouldnā€™t use either of these but I still appreciate them.

Boys: probably [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and I would use that in a heart beat for a boy or a girl. :blue_heart:

When I was a kid, I loved [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] !! Neither are still on my list, and I donā€™t think I couldā€™ve ever dreamt where my naming style would go and evolve to be haha

Then:

Girls: Olivia/Olive, [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_u]Anne[/name_u] and [name_f]Renee[/name_f]

Boys: [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_u]Liam[/name_u] and [name_u]Carson[/name_u]

Now:

Girls: [name_f]Strawberry[/name_f], [name_f]Bonnibel[/name_f], [name_u]Story[/name_u], [name_u]Berry[/name_u], [name_u]Poet[/name_u], [name_u]Scout[/name_u]

Boys: [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], [name_u]Nova[/name_u], [name_u]Arthur[/name_u], [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] and [name_f]Opal[/name_f]

I think young me would be either very intrigued or be the type that be jealous bc young me would always want a very less common name, lol

Growing up, I loved a lot of names that became really popular later in when my generation started having babies! For some reason, as a teen I didnā€™t love many girl names. I also wanted mostly boys haha. Very few of these names I would even consider today

.
Preteen/teen loves:

Boys:
[name_u]Carter[/name_u] (would still use if hubby liked it)
[name_u]Liam[/name_u] (basically unheard of in the US then, but it got too popular so fast, sadly)
[name_u]Carson[/name_u]
[name_u]Jackson[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_u]Charles[/name_u]
[name_u]Elijah[/name_u]
[name_m]Tayson[/name_m]
[name_u]Kyler[/name_u]
[name_u]Aiden[/name_u]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Travis[/name_m]
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]

Girls:
[name_f]Jenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_u]Allison[/name_u]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] (still would use)
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] (still would use)
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]

I think pre-teen/teenage me might have liked the name I picked for my child, but I hadnā€™t heard of it until I was a young adult (even though itā€™s classic and pretty widely known haha). I think the middle name I chose would have surprised younger me, even though itā€™s not unusual today.

As a child and as a teen, I liked the names: [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_u]Jess[/name_u], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_u]Mandy[/name_u], [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f], [name_u]Alfie[/name_u], Annie-Rose, [name_f]Lorilyn[/name_f], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_u]Emlyn[/name_u], [name_f]Larissa[/name_f], [name_f]Lacey[/name_f], [name_u]Ara[/name_u], [name_f]Nadia[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f].

I still like a lot of these

When I was a little kid I love [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] ā€œLilyā€, [name_f]Clover[/name_f], [name_u]Fern[/name_u] and [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]. [name_u]Fern[/name_u] is my number 2 girl name! I still really like [name_f]Clover[/name_f]. [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] is nice but not on my list. Iā€™d use [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] as an honour name in the middle spot.

Iā€™ve definitely learnt about a lot more names now, so my style has shifted to much rarer names. However Iā€™ve loved [name_u]Fern[/name_u] for around ten years, so thatā€™s something that hasnā€™t changed.

I remember loving [name_f]Silke[/name_f], [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], [name_u]Sky[/name_u], Semhar, [name_f]Acacia[/name_f], [name_f]Dia[/name_f], [name_f]Christine[/name_f], [name_m]Reginald[/name_m], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], and [name_u]Shirley[/name_u].

I still really like [name_f]Silke[/name_f], [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], and [name_m]Reginald[/name_m], and I change my mind about [name_f]Layla[/name_f] all the time. I think [name_m]Reginald[/name_m] was the only one I thought about in the context of ā€œthis is what I would choose for my child,ā€ and the rest were names I wanted for myself.

Great question

As a young child I loved [name_u]Marie[/name_u], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_m]Boy[/name_m] names were never on my radar really however I did love [name_u]Noah[/name_u].

When I was a teen I loved [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], [name_u]Levi[/name_u], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] & [name_u]Noah[/name_u] for boys. For girls I loved [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. When I was 17 I lost my baby girl [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] at 23 weeks + 6 days and I still love her name. If I didnā€™t already have [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] I would probably use her.

Fast forward to today Iā€™m a parent to my beautiful daughter [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] a name that was NEVER on my radar and 17 year old me would never have dreamed off naming my baby [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. I still love [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_u]Marie[/name_u], [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] and of course [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I also have a soft spot for [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. However my partner has a niece called [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] which takes [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f] off the table, we wouldnā€™t use Alexander/Alexandra, [name_u]Marie[/name_u] or [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] and my partner thinks [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is too ā€˜softā€™ so wouldnā€™t use. Nevertheless [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is definitely still on the cards if we were ever blessed with another girl and we have another bible name for boys [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]!

I remember liking [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f], [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. [name_u]Robin[/name_u] for a boy (my longest name love, probably, but he doesnā€™t work with my married surname :smiling_face_with_tear:).

I still love [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] but theyā€™re now too trendy for me to consider because it turns out my entire age group was obsessed with Greek mythology names this whole time

i liked more classical names when i was littler. some of my favorite combos were lucy jane antoinette and esther elizabeth rose. i also loved the name annelise. like i was obsessed with that name. i was also into unique spellings like bayleigh, lileigh, paisleigh, and some iā€™d rather not embarrass myself with
now my naming style has changed from classical to country/cowgirl. my top combos are now ruthie ophelia, autry campbell, lula gentry, and dorothea monroe. :pickup_truck: :ear_of_rice:
i think my younger self would think i was a lil crazy for liking names like that, but iā€™m sure little me would understand at some point

[name_m]Young[/name_m] (<10 year old) meā€™s favorite names were [name_f]Kandy[/name_f], [name_f]Rica[/name_f], and Risaā€¦ I literally loved the name [name_f]Kandy[/name_f]. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I discovered the names [name_f]Athena[/name_f] (from a name website) and Maryelle (from a TV show) when I was about 12/13ā€¦ they are still my top 2 girl names to this day!

my childhood name love is still my name love, I have always loved the name [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f], and the name gained more meaning for me when I lost my best friend who was named [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f]

my naming style was similar to mine now when i was much younger, but i adored matching names. i mean, who wouldnā€™t want an isabella and an ella together?

the name of my first doll was rosie after caillouā€™s little sister () and with her came along her ā€œsisterā€ rebecca whom i nicknamed becky. those were my favorites when i was younger, and soon after that emily, olivia, isabella, lucy, lily, lila, and hope was my short little list.

my dream set however was lucy anne, lily marie, and lila kateā€¦ but my first daughter had to be named olivia.

apparently boys didnā€™t exist in my head during that time :sunflower:

[name_m]Young[/name_m] me was much more obsessed about comic books and I was determined to name my children [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] and [name_f]Ororo[/name_f]. I still like them, but not enough to name a kid after .
I also liked [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f], and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].
The one thatā€™s really held on is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], Iā€™ve loved it since I was about 11 or so and got the [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] American [name_f]Girl[/name_f] movie. The main thing thatā€™s changed is I have a deeper interest in multicultural names and try to actively learn about them, as well as names to honor my SOā€™s Turkish heritage. :heartpulse:

[name_m]Little[/name_m] me really liked [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] and [name_f]Bianca[/name_f].
Teenage me- liked [name_u]Liam[/name_u], [name_u]Kingsley[/name_u], & [name_u]Lyric[/name_u] (that I can remember.
I named my first two as a teen- [name_u]Pilot[/name_u] & [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]
The kids I had in my 20s- [name_u]Happy[/name_u] & [name_m]Philo[/name_m]
And in my 30s- Retro
[name_f]My[/name_f] style has changed so much. In fact I think it changes yearly.

I canā€™t remember perfectly but I know my tastes changed a lot, and sometimes Iā€™d go through phases where I was OBSESSED with a certain name and then completely change my opinion on it later. Some of the random names I remember liking:

Girls:
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_f]Katie[/name_f]
[name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]
[name_u]Jules[/name_u]
Anything with a J really
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Rain[/name_u]
[name_u]Andrea[/name_u]
Virginia/Ginny

Boys:
[name_u]Timothy[/name_u]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Fred[/name_m]
[name_u]Miles[/name_u]
[name_u]Rocky[/name_u]
[name_m]Flint[/name_m]

[name_f]Pretty[/name_f] much all of them are names I still sort of like now (except maybe [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and Megan), but not enough to consider using, Iā€™d only like them for someone else really. I donā€™t think thereā€™s anything on my list now that I wouldā€™ve disliked when I was younger, but I donā€™t remember feeling strongly about any of them back then.
