[name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] Danby (20) is Haruâs close friend and a fellow member of the Sensational Six - not that sheâs any more fond of the name. A fellow fashion major, [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] lives to frustrate teachers in her refusal to shorten her name, taking pride in itâs uniqueness and also how she wasnât named for [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m], but instead the character from the cartoon series Gargoyles, which her dad worked on as an animator. Some people find it baffling why [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] is so endeared by this - sheâs not exactly a mushy person, very much being considered the coolest of the Six, with an aloof politeness and preference to keep to herself [daresay being a little awkward when receiving praise as she doesnât aspire to garner the spotlight] - but her sentimentality is something she prefers keeping on her own terms; as reflected in her [name_f]Beanie[/name_f] [name_u]Baby[/name_u] collection, which her grandpa got her into and sheâs continued for as long as she can remember. The eclectic, unusual and contrary fascinate her, always being reflected in her designs that are known for their boldness and how she decorates her room with surrealist prints, very much believing in self-expression and endorsing people to use their sense of style in whatever way they see as best. Again, she acknowledges she hasnât got the personality to be the poster girl of this campaign, but her sentiment is sincere, and she has a very encouraging attitude towards her peers, even if itâs expressed in a subtler way [usually her ghostly post it notes that appear throughout work spaces, and itâs only her distinct handwriting that led to others twigging she was the one responsible for this morale boosting].
As the eldest of three children, [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] tended to play the authority role to her siblings. Her younger brother has severe ADHD and it led to her sister despairing frequently with his antics, usually because he was antagonising her as theyâre only thirteen months apart in age, behaving as âpseudo twinsâ [although [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] checked [name_u]Haru[/name_u] approves of this term given her actual twin status]. There was never genuine animosity between them but the back and forth forever going on between them drove Desdemonaâs mother half-mad, as she would be trying to work as a counselor in her home office, only for chaos to erupt downstairs when one prank or game became emotionally hyper charged. [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] has always been the most reserved of the trio - not just in her more laidback interests such as knitting and reading fantasy novels - however her more decisive personality meant she could break the pair up when their squabbling reached critical points.
Now theyâre in their mid-teens, the two have mellowed considerably [to the relief of their parents], although sheâs the main confidant for them if theyâre facing any issues. Thereâs an unspoken protectiveness to how they feel towards their mom, as she had severe postpartum depression following the birth of her youngest - Desdemonaâs sister - and they work in tandem to ensure she isnât taking on too much from her job, viewing it as sparing their dad from subsequent stress as well. Within her family, [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] admits thereâs always a sense of belonging and understanding that sheâs incredibly grateful for, especially as her best friend comes from a polar opposite environment and is basically the fourth child of Desdemonaâs parents now thanks to family circumstances.
Currently, Desdemonaâs living with one of her fellow Six, her best friend and another close friend in a small house they rent; having chosen it because theyâre allowed small pets. Sheâs got a bearded dragon named [name_m]Osiris[/name_m] - another reference in part to her namesake show which focused on Egyptian mythology sometimes - and even made a series of screen print t-shirts boasting images of him for one of her projects. Part of [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] is considering going abroad once she finishes her degree - she has an aunt living in Finland and can speak some Finnish [sheâs never going to claim she can compete with [name_u]Haru[/name_u] though] - to explore the fashion community elsewhere, but for all her drive to explore visuals, she doesnât want to be so far from her loved oneâs [again the hidden soft side only those sheâs close to know well]. Thanks to their grouping, Desdemonaâs also become friends with Haruâs twin, and theyâve been the recipient of one of her knitted hats, specifically a cat eared design because of how much the pair share a love for felines: unsurprising given Desdemonaâs parents own a Russian blue named [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f] and a [name_u]Maine[/name_u] Coon named [name_f]Topaz[/name_f], who sheâs always bothering her siblings for photos of [payment for being their referee is what she calls it].
