[name_u]Sakari[/name_u] " [name_f]Kara[/name_f] " [name_f]Renee[/name_f] Ridgely-Tobuk (13) is [name_f]Awa[/name_f] and Leonora’s mutual half-sister, born from the respective marriage of their parents. Kara’s remained mostly ignorant of the conflict between her dad and his ex-wife, but this largely comes from Awa’s efforts, as she doesn’t want to see her little sister dragged into the family politics given how ugly they’ve been over the years. She’s met [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] on a few occasions but is actually a bit intimidated by her older sister, who she considers effortlessly more cool and stylish than she’ll ever be - always wanting to present herself in the maturist manner possible to make a good impression. Her current major passions are sketching animals she sees around the garden and netball: something that she plays both competitively at school and also for fun with her friends, who share this passion - as the sports become notably popular at the middle school [name_f]Kara[/name_f] attends.
Through her mom and [name_f]Awa[/name_f], [name_f]Kara[/name_f] also has a strong connection to her Inuit culture, taking a lot of pride in being biracial and she tries to be equal in how she addresses her heritage. Her best friend is also a member of the Inuit community and they share a close bond due to their mutual familial similarities, although Kara’s sometimes a bit jealous as her friend’s family life is much less complicated than her own situation. Still she tries to avoid bitterness, as her mom’s always steering her from it due to Kara’s fathers’ demeanour, and she’s more often happy-go-lucky, which cheers her parents up considerably; even her stern father who’s seen as dour by most people. Currently, she has no clue what she wants in the future but [name_f]Awa[/name_f] has reassured her she has plenty of time and to not fixate on how some of her friends know their paths at such a young age. [name_f]Kara[/name_f] also has a crush on one of her friend’s older brother’s but he’s seventeen and involved with someone else, so she merely pines…not as subtly as she thinks she manages to.
