[name_f]Elizabetta[/name_f] " [name_f]Liz[/name_f] " [name_f]Giulia[/name_f] [name_m]Marino[/name_m] (35) is Alex’s maternal aunt. She’s the younger of the [name_m]Marino[/name_m] sisters, and they’ve always been close. Growing up, Liz’s family wasn’t very well off. Their parents did their best but had immigrated from [name_f]Italy[/name_f] with almost nothing. They worked hard to provide for their daughters, and [name_f]Liz[/name_f] is forever grateful. She was able to put herself through college, get a job as an editor, and help her sister support their parents. They’re now retired and in their sixties, living a quiet and easy life. [name_f]Elizabetta[/name_f] is very proud of her heritage; she loves to see [name_u]Alex[/name_u] and her brother feeling the same way. [name_f]Liz[/name_f] has nothing nasty to say about [name_m]Marcus[/name_m]. He’s a great dad and a good man. She feels like [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] and her sister didn’t know each other well enough when they got married, having only known each other a few months. She keeps this opinion to herself, though, since everything’s over and done with now.
[name_f]Elizabetta[/name_f] has been married for nine years. She met her husband at a murder mystery party that a mutual friend hosted, and they kept in contact after. It took three months for them to get together again, this time for a coffee. A year later, they got married. Her husband is Italian as well. He moved to the States when he was eighteen. They have two kids, aged six and three, who are the light of their lives. Something her husband recently told her has left her reeling, though. She was already aware that his family was leading a criminal society in [name_f]Italy[/name_f], and that’s why he left as soon as he could. It’s also why he took her last name. But he’s learned that some of them have moved to the States, and he’s worried they might try to find him. [name_f]Liz[/name_f] is trying to stay positive, but this scares her, especially since her husband doesn’t know if they’ve gotten over his leaving. He’s started thinking (wrongly) that [name_f]Liz[/name_f] regrets marrying him. She’s convinced of that because of little comments he’s started to make. He’s also saying sorry for every little thing, a surefire way to know he’s feeling guilty. [name_f]Liz[/name_f] wants to talk about all of this, but they rarely get a moment alone between the kids and work, which he’s taken on more of lately.
